a lot of the “bad” Sonic games aren’t even that bad. Sonic Heroes is a bit buggy but playable, Shadow’s only real crime are 4/12 levels and slippery control, Sonic 3D Blast straight up isn’t even a bad game at all with its only real crime being the depth perception fucking with certain jumps (Gene Gadget) and looking a bit uglier than the other Sonic games up to that point, and Sonic Adventure is at worst dated.

I always thought i was the only one who liked both Sonic Heroes and Adventure 1...it's good to not be alone in the hill man.

People do hate the original a lot, but I've seen more hate on LR due to the time management mechanic and single party member.

Drakengard 2. It's generally loathed because the story is generic and Yoko Taro wasn't involved. But gameplay wise I think it fixed most problems I had with DoD1 and had some actually fun bosses and air sections. And the Caim scenes were really cool too. I'd say DoD3 its actually a much worse game, but simply because Taro was involved everything is forgiven. And DoD3 writing isn't even good.

I will defend Aliens Colonial Marines until the day I die.
Very fun arcadey FPS game that everyone hated because it didn't live up to the hype but is actually pretty fun all things considered. Still my favorite Aliens game to date.
That said, Randy is still a greasy bastard.

I beat the 3DO version of this game at least 4 times when it came out. All my friends back then could not understand its appeal. For FMV slop its actually pretty good.

Order of Ecclesia is always leered in ways that while reading its reviews i expected Castlevania The Adventure or Haunded Castle drek, however, as someone that beat it coming from the equally epic Dawn of Souls and Portrait of Ruin, i finished it while thinking

¿Is this game with a satisfactory and refreshingly high challenge and great story the worst game of the DS era?

People also throws trash at it being linear, considering the challenge and more focus in combat, i say they brought back the gool ol' classicvania spirit

This is a tough one for me. This might be cheating cause i believe NOW its genuinely seen as a good game but does anybody else remember when "Sly Cooper:Thieves In Time" came out and the absolute backlash it got from the community? I thoroughly enjoyed that game personally, even back then.

Actraiser Renaissance - A lot of people hated the added dialogue and new tower defence gameplay sequences. I don't mind going through the dialogue repeatedly since most of it are narratives of faithfulness, doubt, hope, perversion of morals...things I can relate to in real life being a Catholic. I suppose if you're a speed runner, the way the game runs now is going to really put a damper on your speed runs (which is where a considerable amount of the complaints is coming from...I think) The entire soundtrack has also been revamped by the original composer, the legendary Yuzo Koshiro so if you thought the SNES Actraiser had an amazing soundtrack, Renaissance sounds absolutely (maybe literally) heavenly. The tower defence is manageable once you figure out the trick to it which was surprising for me since I suck at strategy games.

Actraiser 2 (SNES) - Years back, I really wanted to play Actraiser 1 having read all about it in a gaming magazine but I could never get an english cart of it in my country. Actraiser 2 on the other hand, was picked up by a local store. I immediately discovered it was all action sequences, there was none of the town management simulation sequence in Actraiser 1 where you direct your people as their God. Miffed for a bit, I still proceeded to play it. It was...wow...mind numbingly difficult. I couldn't get past level 1 for a considerable time. But with practice and learning the nuances of your character's moves, I managed to master it to the point of getting through the whole thing on hard difficulty in one sitting. Now it's one of my old favorites and like Actraiser 1, has an amazing soundtrack as well. No Renaissance remaster though...

While Castlevania 64 isn't perfect (especially the magic nitro part) I still think it's the only game that captured as close as possible the classic 3D style, the PS2 games are just hack n slash like the reboot attempt of LoS.

About Smash Brawl is the same, the game is not perfect especially for the physics and tripping (which fortunately can be eliminated with a cheat) but I enjoyed it much more than Melee.

Ive still yet to play Castlevania 64, but i have played Legacy of Darkness and while i didn't beat it, i didnt think it eas a terrible game either. I heard it made aome quality of life improvements over 64 though, so if i ever do get back to that game I wonder how 64 would stack up to it

Final fantasy XIII is great, I think if square enix change the Final Fantasy of the name the game most of the haters will be in love with this game.

RE revelations 1 and 2 are greats spinoffs of the saga.

RE operation raccoon city is a great co-op game.

DS2 is the ugly brother but is a good game.

Agreed with FF VIII, I have never understood why people seemed to dislike it so much. I think the junction system is great, the "modern-realistic-fantasy" setting wasn't any different from what VII was doing, the presentation was significantly nicer than VII's. I've always been a defender of VIII and only recently do I feel like I've started to see more recognition of the game being good.

Final Fantasy community is one of the most stupid community in gaming, they NEVER will be ok with a game.

The game can be a 8/10 but they will be talking sht about something they don't like, to them the game is a 4/10 just because THIS specific thing.
This or the nostalfag, they love the 2D and the 7 but hate everything before it.

Was it paying full price for a game that wasnt as different as the one previous? I played it YEARS after release for like 5 dollars so i was thoroughly happy with my playthrough considering i only spent that small amount

I love this game. And Dela, of course.

I play through it frequently to relax myself. I don't know how hated is it, but I would certainly say that people in general seem turned off by Brandish because it's movement style is you know, stupid and pointless. I love both of the first two Brandish games.

8 is a great vibe, and an incredible soundtrack. Let's not pretend the story doesn't suck, but I don't think it's anything worth getting angry about.

I believe most hate came from the fact that it was narratively not as strong as Arkham City, and a lot of people didn't like how the main plot, especially the twist related to Black Mask, was handled. There were also some minor criticism for artstyle, especially how killer croc looked in this game comparison to asylum, and some people really didn't how collectibles like riddler trophies were handled, but then riddler trophies are a nuisance across all games, so that's nothing new. I remember reading that back then there were fair few bugs (one notorious one I remember is related to Batman getting stuck on a vent), but yeah, outside of that, nothing else I can remember.

Though the cold, cold, heart dlc was loved even back then.
