Sad day for game preservation, one of the best sites is going down next month

i knew they would eventually get hit. i was hoping that where ever they were located would give them some protection, but i guess not.
got to get going on grabbing some games and other things from there.

They even have 360 and PS3 DLC there too as well as Wii U stuff

Incredibly unfortunate news... I've been using Myrient for as long as I can remember and it's been my go-to all these years and honestly the loss is catastrophic because of their massive amount of content I couldn't really find anywhere else.

Unfortunately I was afraid that sooner or later this would happen

i know. i already got the wiiu stuff from usbhelper. it not only gets the games downloaded for you with a pause and resume feature, but it can also convert them and make them playable on cemu.
i need to check and make sure i got all of the ps3, xbox and 360 games that i want before they disappear forever.

One day maybe a new site may take its place

This sucks. Especially because some specific content (Namely, official translations of games like "Ripple Island", "Mappy Kids", "Ninja Jajamaru: Ginga Daisakusen" etc) may be lost to time................ unless some gigachad decides to back all of those up and store them elsewhere.

That mean hshop is going belly-up, too?......

Mostly because they dont have the money and access to the part required for maintaining the servers, due to guess what? Ai...

I wonder what is the position of Spyke and RGT on the same subject?

Sry i'm on tablet, so a bit hard to crop things but no, hshop will continue

well, that's a bit of good news then.
what is the telegram channel? i haven't heard of that before.

From the site's discord. The gist is Myrient has had a long reputation of being a safe, stable, and free site for rom preservation. But the combined increasing costs and insufficient funding has lead the owner to shut it down soon. Also apparently people have been using AI programs to force download the site en-mass, abusing it in a way the owner couldn't compensate for.

Every single day these artificial intelligence things happen, processors are getting more expensive, RAM is already ridiculously expensive. I also didn't know the site, but I know it well. Sorry if I commented here, I just wanted to share my opinion.

What really gets me is the second point: why the HELL would you program a tool designed to screw the site you are supposedly a fan of?!

I absolutely sympathize with the owner in this case. That's just gross.

Let's not forget to include lagging legislation and bribable people that slow down regulation.

We can rage on our end of the rope all we want, but the problem is on the other end.
