Let's not get too bent out of shape over politics, eh? Considering that they've intertwined themselves with video games in recent years a mention here and there is inevitable so I don't think us mods should go full Spanish inquisition but let's not get wound up over alt-right this and woke that.

At the end of the day, we're trying to have a bit of fun, not regurgitate the hellscape that is social media and life in general.

And this why I don't care about politics for me they always the grey area they don't care about you they care about their own opinion

This why I don't get why people got Interested in politics I mean back in the day we didn't know who is the secretary the mayor or some department leader because we don't care.

Thanks mate the reason I apologize because this type user will bring the police to ban you.
Nah bro. Mods here are smarter than that.

hmm this topic not locked even when people say it should be ???????

Anyway as a father my self of 2 kids I wanna say I not seen any Gender Divide increases. I wanna say it is as it´s always been dudes being a bunch of creepy bastard the the point you wanna neuter them with piano strings.

What I have seen allot of TOXIC positivity, Child grooming and morons that think their opinion is the only correct one.

There is a reason I BANNED my kids from ever playing Fornight, Robolox and they are even banned from Playing minecraft online. If they wanna play minecraft with friends they will have to do so on a server I set up where I have power to decide who joins and not.

But no I don´t think I seen gender dived in fact most kids today are so open minded does not mater if your a girl or a boy or of color as long as your a kind they get along rely well.

In fact I think the younger generation is better than my generation when it comes to how friendly they are.

But the fact is ASS CLOWNS exist every where on internet but then it´s your job as a parent see to your kinds don´t play does cancer ridden online games. Like Robolox, Fornight, Lol, dota and so on.

You want your kids to have a good gaming experience then do your fucking job as a parent and quit bitching.

Mate this why I asking I always away for work because I was on military service but now I am retired this is my change to spend time with she show me the game she good at it but I didn't realize it was crap world

And this why I am here on RGT I want to give my childhood games to them and experience joy.

Dude there is much more beautiful and just so worth it in the video game world, plus
the time of you bonding with your children playing them. The little dark bit though powerful and evil CAN be ignored man just try, and the worlds you and your children will experience will be phenomenal.
I PROMISE.

I don't really play competitive games, so I can't speak with experience. But what i noticed is that these types of games, like Marvel Rivals and Counter Strike 2, are a lot more competitive than before. May be due to e-sports becoming a real thing, ranked matches everywhere, now people don't play to have fun but win matches and rank up. Almost like a 2nd job. So most players today end up being more aggressive than before, if they see a girl on the team they enter monkey mode ::eggmanlaugh

As a parent, I'm really curious why the gender divide in gaming feels so much worse now than before. My daughter gets harassed by some male gamers (voice/looks comments), which is awful and pushes girls away. But then her female group won't allow boys—including her own brother. She stepped away from that group. Why is this happening more?

And what the heck with woke feminist political doing on video games

I know I sound like I’ve been living under a rock for not knowing about this, but I was in military service and never really cared about Twitter or online drama. I recently retired from the military because of an injury, so now I spend most of my time with my kids — and this is the kind of thing I’m seeing.
Online gaming is a complete cesspool, especially when you use a headset you open yourself up to some serious troglodytes which I avoid doing completely by not having a headset whenever I do go online, also don't use your face for any kind of gamer picture and if you are a female try to avoid using a feminine name so the creepy guys don't message you, I was online using this name which I guess many men thought it meant I was a woman so I got plenty of oddball messages from men.

the gender division has always been there in gaming spaces online, its just seems like its more forefront and contentious because most people are constantly online and culture war bullshit has wormed its way into gaming at a level that cant be untangled

i have a lot of personal experiences with being excluded from gaming or harrassment (in a few cases stalking) cause of my gender (or the inverse being allowed in being seen as just someones girlfriend/potential girlfriend) and even excluded from female only groups for not being man hating enough even if i do have plenty of reasons to

these arent new or recent things sadly and maybe it is somehow worse but i dont really play online games and honestly dont touch social media like i used to

at the end of it whats needed is for them to find the people that they can mesh with without all that but that does have a lot of trial and error putting yourself out there

i dont like getting into the whole "wokeness in gaming" thing and just not worth the effort ( arguing is tiring and most poeple wont change no matter what is said on both sides)

given the rise of the manosphere and incel culture. the gender divide is becoming more volitile.
it sucks how people keep forgetting how to treat other regular people with respect and dignity for the past decade or so

Honestly, weather you guys like it or not "wokeness" is a major influence on video game culture and video games themselves right now, so unfortunately for you, I believe it does (in a minor way) belong as part of the
forum environment.
what "wokeness" are you specifically talking about?

It's been going for a REALLY long time, too...

My cousin (who has a legendary take-no-crap attitude) was harassed out of WoW years ago just because she's a girl and didn't feel like hiding that fact — but she never left the game entirely - there's no way she was ever going to give them the satisfaction - just stock to a group and never operated outside of it. And for a game as massive, expanding and engrossing as World Of Warcraft? That honestly feels like "voluntarily" choosing to stay in the corner during a massive gathering while everyone else (seemingly) has fun.

It sucks. There's no reason for it. But not enough people cared to fix it.

It really depends on the game's communities, when you get right down to it. The same girl could play three different games with voice chat and have wildly different experiences:

- Competitive FPS (Call of Duty, TF2): They will almost certainly be harassed. Between the competitiveness and the "Boys' Club" environment of these games, very few will stand out as shining examples of humanity; in TF2's case, defending people will get you kicked right alongside them.
- Creative Spaces (Garry's Mod, MineCraft, LittleBigPlanet RIP): Entirely dependent on the server - some are wonderful and open spaces for everyone, others are nightmares of oppression. You never really know until you join, and sometimes it can take a lot of cycling to avoid the bad spaces.
- Co-Op Experiences (Borderlands, Peak): The average encounters will be very good. Every ten or so games, you'll encounter some kind of jerk, who may be alone or may have a little gaggle of jerks with them. But it's easy enough to move on and the next game probably won't be like that.

As to why things are like this? Really it's just reinforced childishness - the main audience for games gets locked in pretty early in their lifetimes, and sometimes that community becomes so much the norm that people just take part and don't even think about it unless confronted.

I think the vast majority of players aren't so much actively malicious as they are just frustrated/tense/bored and using games as an outlet for all that, and when that comfortable element changes, their target changes.

As for things getting worse, though? Absolutely not... They're just not really getting better, which seems shocking because society outside of these spaces has improved so greatly in comparison.

You forgot "chud" to complete your Resetera vocabulary trifecta.

got any better things to say other than "lmao, who cares?"?
You're right, my bad, the "incels" are very important and top priority. Someone must save us from Asmongold.

To add to the additonal text you edited in, the OP also mentioned his son being excluded and then said this: "And what the heck with woke feminist political doing on video games." No offense but did you read it all?

That stupid ratman isn't even worth mentioning
I mean, if you think "incels" are truly "important," surely you think it's "important" to mention the one who gets millions of views, no?

If i gave my real full thoughts on that guy, i would probably be banned.
