My Daughter Gets Harassed, My Son Gets Excluded: Gaming’s Gender Divide is Getting Worse.

As a parent, I'm really curious why the gender divide in gaming feels so much worse now than before. My daughter gets harassed by some male gamers (voice/looks comments), which is awful and pushes girls away. But then her female group won't allow boys—including her own brother. She stepped away from that group. Why is this happening more?

I know I sound like I’ve been living under a rock for not knowing about this, but I was in military service and never really cared about Twitter or online drama. I recently retired from the military because of an injury, so now I spend most of my time with my kids — and this is the kind of thing I’m seeing.

is not only video games it is EVERYTHING in 2026's society. I spoke yesterday in a thread somewhere
on here yesterday and had the same feeling. The modern woke, politically correct, cancel culture is trying to basically push everything into one big amalgamation. I thought like the Gelatinous Cubes from

Back in the 80s and the 90s we excluded girls from pretty much everything, since we thought they had cooties. I think this all stemmed from some parents that didn't want boys and girls hanging out together.
I really think all the current gender nonsense is because of that...

The reason is pretty much what you said first. Boys think girls have cooties when they are young, and girls just want to do girly stuff without boys around and gossip or whatever. No boys/girls allowed clubs have always existed.

Its always been the same. But modern times, people are more acceptable in video games. Especially the older generation since they want to related with there kids. It used to be them thinking games are weird not they think its alright.

of the house, I wouldnt let them talk to anyone and no internet till they turn 18. There are too

Well this what did my brother to my niece and nephew they only allowed to outside if I were around (since they have no friends because they have no social media) although they allowed to net if I were using they mostly play games using emulator and of course I play with them.

video games have become a widely accepted source of entertainment? and second how old
are we talking here? I've been a gamer all my life and I'm old, my grandparents never asked

Sorry i type faster then i can think. What i meant was video game culture as a whole. Its widely acceptable compared to when i was a kid. People would called you a nerd back then but now everyone plays games or atleast find it more acceptable compared to back then.

Yeah I know is not the menace I just got very angry what they do to my daughter to point I log in her account and hunt down those bastard and give a them a head shot I did thr Punisher style (although the account was now banned but my daughter is okay Since she doesn't want too play anymore)
