Monster Hunter Megathread

Lmao, I mentioned that monster already but I still couldn't answer that. I guess I got a bit confused by the description, especially the Ultraman color timer
I vividly remember the color timer because it's chest would glow every time it's about to do the sky drop move thingie hahaha.

Damn! Really?

I mainly use switch axe but it depends on the game . I started mh world with switch axe but I moved to great sword.
In rise I used glaive insect till mid high rank. And in GU only switch axe but I started a new character with sword and shield

( Forgot to mention in 3U I use a lance because am both stupid and a masochist)

I've been considering getting rise on switch (if I can find a physical copy) next month, is it good for solo play?

In freedom unite I wanted to like sword and shield, but with psn being shutdown on the psp I had to do all the damage myself. I switched to longsword after a while and found it much more comfortable.

I've enjoyed using Dual Blades in the Monster Hunter games I've played. I always gravitate towards the speedy, hyper-aggressive option in games.

I played rise with my cousin so I can't really answer if its good solo or not, sorry

Game plan's always to be strict on playing one weapon per title. But that insistence never holds strong. I always end up back-pocketing weapon upgrades for SnS / Hunting Horn / Light Bowgun. It makes for good refuge for when times get too tough - when I need some familiar ground to find myself back on.

For the games with limited inventory that I've played, I just trade out Light Bowgun for Greatsword. Don't want to bother with juggling the crafts and purchases of bowgun bullets, man.

Greatsword is my favorite weapon, i love it because for me someone that loves strategy based things, is really fun to think in your head every possible situations to avoid a miss and guarantee a hit or a charge, so because of that is why it is my favorite in every mh game. But i love the Longsword too

I've always landed in other Monster Hunteresque games like Wild Hearts right now (I like the umbrella and the cannon thingy) I was thinking of giving Wilds a try once its patched up though.

The Dual Blades was my first, then the katana, and lastly, the bow and arrow. I tried the other vast arsenal of weapons but never quite got the grip on the them as I only played it twice. Monster Hunter: World was my first so I did get interested in the rest of the series.

Which would any of you consider the hardest Monster Hunter ? Why ? Thoughts on the new Monster Hunter ?

Always Greatsword (main) but the sub slot can vary, normally Gunlance.

IMO Rise is one of the best entries period, whether you are hunting solo or not (I played the whole gamut of the series, almost always solo since I can't get my friends into trying the games).

Charge Blade if I had to pick one.

But what I use really depends on which one I'm playing.
MHFU: Long Sword, Great Sword
MHP3rd: Long Sword, Switch Axe
MH4U: Charge Blade, Sword and Shield, Dual Blades
MHGU: Long Sword, Great Sword, Switch Axe, Charge Blade, Sword and Shield, Dual Blades
MHW: Long Sword, Charge Blade, Switch Axe

Ah, the eclectic hunter! I have a lot of respect for that.

I've been really enjoying my time with Rise - It's the first MH title that I've tried to learn how to play, and I just started a few days ago! I'm also looking forward to checking out Double Cross and/or 3U in the future!

I've been trying to play using Bow and longsword so far.

I'm glad you've been enjoying your time! Rise and XX/GU are my absolute favorites in the whole series. Depending on how you intend to play 3U I have a few fixes to recommend.

Ohhh yeah, I've been playing since ps2. Now adays I main hunting horn, bard all day! My secondary is usually great sword or dual blades.

I'm planning to check out 3U on the Wii U, likely using the Wii U pro controller. If you have any suggestions/fixes, I'd love to hear it!
Ah I see! it is the best looking version for sure. It's a bit of a long story but if you'll humor me for a moment I'll explain.

Normally in Monster Hunter games, there is an internal pseudo-RNG that gets rolled every time you create a character or load an existing one. That RNG will decide what kind of rewards you get for that given play session (that is, until you reset and reload your save or power down and reload that save).

3U, for some reason, does not refresh the RNG roll ever after you create a character, which means your range of rewards is locked for that character. Some people consider it part of the game, most people consider it a bug that Capcom never acknowledged or bothered to fix, and I'm on the latter camp, since no game before or since did this.

The 3DS version has a patch you can add at runtime that can undo this frozen RNG behavior, but sadly as far as I know the WiiU version has no such patch. So you'd have to decide whether you consider this whole thing a bug or not when you decide to play 3U.
