A great all-in-one hack that combines several improvement features for this beloved compilation, bringing it closer to how it should have released in the first place.

Author(s): TheBamboozler (with contributions from several other authors, check RB's Notes 1)
Type: Bugfix, Gameplay, Graphics, Improvement, Script
Version: 3.0
Date: 20th of February, 2026
Status: Fully Playable
Source: https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/9281/

Features:

  • Enemy invulnerability time has been all but eliminated
  • Improves Buster Fire Speed
  • The Buster and some boss weapons can be fired more rapidly
  • Mega Man pulls his Buster back a little sooner after firing
  • Mega Man can have 5 bullets on screen at once, instead of 3
  • Adds the slide to Mega Man 1 and 2
  • Refill Weapon Energy after death
  • Redrawn Proto Man’s sprites
  • Optional Mega Hack MD+ patches
  • Optional Weapon Master patch that has been edited to work on any version of the game and a few of the glitches fixed (be careful still of switching weapons when entering the level and boss rooms or when battling the copy robot)
  • Optional retranslated Wily Tower text
RB's Notes 1: As mentioned, this hack combines the efforts of may talented individuals, them being:
Ar8temis008, BillyTime! Games, CoolCatBomberMan, darthvaderx, ElwinBran, Gruesome_Garie, JackelZXA, Josephine Lithius, MottZilla, Plombo, Relikk, Stifu, Woodfrog.

RB's Notes 2: Included in subfolders are the separate patches that make up this compilation hack. If you'd rather create your own feature combination, feel free. Apply them to an unmodified ROM.

RB's Notes 3: The original ROMs are kept in the post for purposes of customizability. In my testing, The Retro Bit one worked fine even on ancient emulators like Kega Fusion, while the Genesis Mini one worked only on Blast 'Em and via Retroarch cores.

Does this include the SRAM patch? It was included in the "World Fixer Upper" Patch which it looks like this game uses and they just forgot to mention it but I'm not 100% certain and I'd prefer to avoid EEPROM saving if possible and I'm honestly afraid to add anything to this combo of patches in case the entire house of cards comes tumbling down lmao.

Other than that 100% perfect.
Yes I do believe it saves to SRAM, since it includes Mottzilla's contributions.

Hope you guys like this. It's probably as close to perfect as this one will get!

Not the same as the original on NES but it is a very fun game.

Man, I used to rent this one back in the day, even though it didn't have that "NES" feel, it still was 3 games for the price of a single rental!

Gonna try it, wish me luck!

It's not a problem. Basically the hack itself includes every feature listed (except MD+). The separate patches are for creating a custom version with only the wanted features.
is weapon Master already patched in?

Thanks for all the testing! Which patches did you apply? I can't tell from your post. Sorry if it's in there and I'm not understanding it.

An idea: you could include two folders in the zip:
/Optional patches already applied/
/Optional patches still available to apply/

Well I hope this version will improve every problem that this game have especially the gameplay that lacks the NES feel

Is this compatible with Roll-chan sprite hack?
