Mega Man Megathread

Anybody have any cool Mega Man stuff aside from games?

Sadly no, I´d die for one model kit even if it is an american bad box art megaman one
Zero is really the only model kit I have and it was a pain to put together. You can find flaws in mine if you were to inspect it closely. So I probably won't do the model kit thing again. Next time I'll have someone else do it for me LOL.

X is actually a TruForce Collectibles action figure with a light up arm canon. I wanted Zero too but they never made one. I think the company shutdown. Shame, I read that it would have had this design from Mavel vs Capcom Infinite

If it had 7 and 8 I'd have considered getting it

I've got a few. I posted a few of my Zero figure. I've got others too but would need to dish them out if you're interested!

I often forget that Megaman is actually wearing a helmet and has hair...

Wait, why would a robot need hair when the helmet can already be part of his "skeleton"?
Interesting question. Got me thinking, original Megaman is sometimes depicted with hair, but X is never depicted with helmet off, and I don't think i've ever seen any official work/art showing X with hair..... Volnutt's default is helmet off. I dunno about the NetNavi ever taking off his helmet - never played those games (yet) - but he has spikes at the back. The differences are possibly just for artistic / style purposes I guess?

Back to your question though, I think he doesn't need it but he's just designed to look human. And it looks pretty cool. The Captain Tsubasa-esque hair style suits og Megaman.

Either way he may have "casual" outfits outside of adventures.

Perhaps X is meant to be a combat reploid so he doesn't need hair. NetNavi aren't fully digital beings? Maybe they don't care that much about it.

I'm thinking if Phoenix Wright's hair was meant to be a slight nod to Megaman (since he's also wearing blue) but then again, anime hairstyle.

He definitely puts the man in Megaman....

"Perhaps X is meant to be a combat reploid so he doesn't need hair." - I had the same thought. X doesn't seem to do anything outside of hunting Mavericks.

Isn't it a bit sad in a way? The original Megaman probably is still treated like he's Dr. Light's kid and has a sister. X only lives to fight.

X wasn't meant to be a combat reploid, but Dr Light left capsules around the world with combat upgrades for X should he unfortunately have to become a war machine.

By contrast, Zero was designed for war and is just powerful straight out of the gate. This is why the series begins with X trying to catch up to Zero in terms of power. There's a fantastic moment in Mega Man X5 if you find a Light capsule with Zero. Light offers him an upgrade based on Light's limited knowledge of Zero's design. Zero responds with, "I don't need any upgrades" to which Light leaves the choice of using the capsule or not to Zero.

that would make sense, but both zero and axel have hair. it's probably just an aesthetic choice in universe for x to not have hair.

Yes Zero & Axl do have hair, but the helmets never come off.

Yes it is sad, kind of dawned on me yesterday while comparing them all. Volnutt has Gramps, Roll and Data. OG Megaman has Light, Roll and Rush. In BN he's got Lan and a bunch of NetNavi buddies I think (I don't know it so well). X doesn't have any of that except some capsules and Zero who eventually dies. (Intro level to X6 is pretty cool / bleak)
