Second done, I can see why MM2 has been regarded as such since it was a massive overhaul on the formula (and Willy Castle was more badass in this one).

Funny you say that cause there are those two Pokémon that look just like NetNavis lmao

These two are my only reasons to have interest on the newer Pokémon games
Call me a genwunner/nostalgic person but those designs have little to no place in Pokémon imo.

The massive issue about this franchise is how they stopped making Pocket Monsters and instead focused on making anthropomorphic (if not humanoid) mascot characters to appeal to more people.

I digress into a different debate so with Gamefreaks I'll go back to Megaman by showing how Pulseman could easily be one Robot Master because of his look:

I forgot to tell I've done the Megaman 3 part of Willy Wars:

I still like some of the levels from 3 (and the slide changes many things too) yet I feel like the Doc Robot part of the game where you redo four of the levels with the MM2 bosses patterns felt like it was meant to pad the game despite how lengthy it already was by itself...

I heard MM3 was also a rushed project so this explains why some things felt unfinished and how it reused the MM2 build of the "engine" (if there's one).

I only have the Willy Tower to do so I'll be done with this game for good.

not to mention the setting of his game is pretty reminiscent to battle network. he is shooting in and out of computers because he is half program.
So basically one dev copied the other to end up getting copied themselves?

Oh and I've beaten the Tower, it's more like a bonus post-game than real new content...

Awesome! But I also understand that GameFreak based Rotom on that ability.

When I see Megaman Legends/Rockman DASHI often need to remind myself it's a Megaman game because it kinda looks removed from the NES/SNES games, as if they wanted to make a 3D adventure game yet applied the IP in some way.

I guess it's like Megaman Battle Network/Rockman.exe, a spin-off series set in a different setting.

Honestly, with the improvement patches for 3, X3, X5, X6, SF1, SF2, as well as bn5 DS... I think there is still plenty of reason to keep emulating. I usually play them on revisits.
Wait, I haven't downloaded romhacks because I wanted the original experience. I may check for 3 since it was sadly rushed.

On a side note there's a neat fan remake of Mega Man 1 called Mega Man Again which is, unlike Powered Up, still using the NES style while keeping some QoL improvements like sliding and charged buster.

Megaman 4: done.

I do appreciate that the antagonist in the game is a different one this time.
Yes I know that Wily is actually the villain but at that point we thought he was dead.

I knew that Gamma reminded me of something else, I like the old school look of that mecha

Now I've finished the NES Hexalogy (if we can qualify it as such).

What do you mean by "To be continued"?

Isn't it weird how Megaman 6 came out the same year as Doom?

Ah dangit I cannot edit my message when it's merged, I wanted to add Sonic CD, Secret of Mana, Gunstar Heroes and Ys IV the Dawn of Ys.

Merely one month later Megaman X would come out on the Super NES (thus making Megaman going to the next generation with a new world, a new story and new characters).

I'm curious about what made Capcom do that rather than having Mega Man 7 directly on the SNES.

Also it's funny how they had to conclude the "Wily saga" by making him finally getting catched and going to prison (as Mega Man 3 had us believing he was dead and Mega Man 5 having him running out thanks to the crumbling castle).

Honestly I don't know if the second half of the Hexalogy is better but I enjoyed some of the level gimmicks and powers but I feel like it became repetitive about the Mega Man 2 formula.

I often forget that Legends is in the tail end of the timeline.

I am curious to do the Zero/ZX series very soon.

Zero and ZX probably have the tightest narratives. X get's a little funky for... reasons.
I'd highly recommend playing a retranslation of X2 and X6 even if you play the vanilla game... they are VERY rough localizations.

ZX means "Zero X" like Megaman had Megaman X as its "sequel series" right?

I'd try that then. I'll get to the Repo.

that's one way of interpreting it i guess but in the game it's a literal fusion of X and Zero

pretty much. same dev, similar gameplay, set in future...
though like you looked up earlier, there is a timeline that spans all of these.

Battle network and Starforce as similar to classic and X in this sense as well, but are not a part of the same timeline.

I liked how in Megaman X there's a way to upgrade your character so you're incited to go back to previous stages after getting a new weapon/upgrade. At least you have an item to escape the level without having to complete it again once you get it.

I kinda prefer that kind of action/platformer without going full Metroidvania. MM6 even had split paths.

I'm now wondering if I should tackle X2 right away or go for MM7...
