looks like zsnes is coming back as "super zsnes"

That’s definitely interesting news. In a way, I grew up with this emulator as a gamer lol

I still remember getting stuck on that part with THOSE DOOR in Chrono Trigger, and someone on message board advised me to just... record a macro. For those who aren’t familiar with the issue - many keyboards back then couldn’t handle pressing two or more keys at the same time.

Ah yes, ghosting...

Ouch.

As a modder I like the idea with modding the graphics, though the examples i did not like at all, but sure, just a showcase of what can be done.
I hope it has the stuff Retroarch has to fight latency, or well, just the ability to run it through Retroarch if not.

That's honestly fascinating to me.

I grew up with Windows 98 & onwards machines and never encountered this problem.

All I really want for SNES emulation is no slowdown, wide screen, HD Mode 7 and perhaps full 30 FPS SuperFX as well.

Then you are gonna love RetroArch on PS3.

It's as close to heaven as many of us would get.

Zsnes is back and it has a HUGE size now, more than 80 MBs???

Welcome to SUPER ZSNES

The two original developers of ZSNES are finally back together! Introducing SUPER ZSNES! Re-written completely from scratch, this GPU-powered SNES emulator is here to bring you the following: some of what is familiar, some of what's new, and then some of what goes beyond.

Key Features

  • Far more accurate CPU and Audio cores than the original ZSNES
  • GPU-powered PPU core to allow for hi-res Mode 7 and special per-game enhancement features
  • Classic UI with falling snow, modernized with higher definition and improved UX
  • Fast forward, rewind, save states, auto save history, save bookmarks, cheat codes, quick load, and more
  • No Vibe Coding. Classic development style.
  • Super Enhancement Engine, where the ZSNES developers are enhancing the games one at a time

Super Enhancement Engine

Currently implemented with support for 7 popular games. Support for more games will keep increasing as this emulator is in development.

  • High Resolution - Not just an auto upscalar, but an internal drawing program is used to make sure that the higher resolution details can be manually drawn to look nice and crisp.
  • Texture/Normal Map - Adds some nice details to the backgrounds to give them a higher resolution look.
  • Overclock - Select games often filled with slowdown are overclocked.
  • Wide Screen (where available) - We enable widescreen whenever the game is internally coded to support partial or full widescreen.
  • Uncompressed Audio Replacement - We curate and pick uncompressed audio samples to replace original highly compressed audio samples.
  • 3D - Currently only supported on perspective-style Mode 7, replaces tiles with 3D height mapped data.
  • All enhancements can be individually disabled to suit your play style.

Note: Enhancement data contains no ROM or copyrighted data. You will need to provide the ROMs. Do not ask the developers for ROMs.

What's Coming

  • Bug fixes
  • Special chip emulation (DSP1, SuperFX, etc.)
  • More optimization work
  • More types of enhancements
  • Netplay
  • Other features

Hell yeah! Some of my earliest memories with emulation were playing Castlevania 4, Mega Man 7, SMW and Mario Paint on ZSNES. That was the cool one with it's nice 16-bit interface. Nowadays I use Snes9x but I still keep ZSNES around just for Mario Paint. If 9x does support the mouse like ZSNES then I don't know how, if any pros wanna weigh in.

I maintain that it's the coolest news since... *checks*... Forever — the world is kind of thin in good news as of late, innit?
If that's not a joke in your profile and you are in fact a nordmann, then good news for you and me: (British ::puke) a bunch of European countries are coming together to make one big offshore wind farm in the North Sea instead of sticking to a bunch of individual wind farms for each country. It'll generate massive amounts of clean power for everyone and be better for the environment. It'll take a few years to build but it's on the way.

Oh, that's so cool! Thanks for letting me know!

And no, not actually from Hell... But very close indeed.

Yeah.

We were discussing it here.

Sorry, i didnt see it. The moderator can delete my post. It's useless. :/

Edit: i wish we could delete our posts anytime we wanted, not just only after some time we posted. Just a suggestion @Spike ;)

It's cool, man — there are Duplicate Hunters in here because it happens every day.

You have nothing to apologize for ^^!

I knew after ZsKnight did that interview on Zophar's channel that something was going to happen. The video was such a viral success, getting traction on even normal gaming sites, that it would spur him into doing something within the community again.

I like it, if only to have some competition and get people active again. A lot of the older systems need modern emulators. I use Bsnes for SNES games, but it does lack a lot of modern bells and whistles. I also hate the plain GUI they have. Now everyone is moving to the Duckstation/PCSX2 design philosophy where it's all simple and vertical. I miss that old Nesticle/Genecyst/Zsnes look.

Plus he's going to include support for these new texture hacks everyone is starting to go crazy for (at least in my circles on youtube) and highlighting audio. Could be the start of something great.

I just wish they'd support Retro Achievements so I wouldn't have to run RASNES9x

Guess I am gonna only use it on pc bc the mobile version is paid and I cant find a safe apk out there

ZSNES was the only option for SNES growing up but I remember discarding it because it couldn't emulate Final Fantasy V properly. When SNES9x came out and it could handle transparency layers better, it was over.

Turns out it doesnt even work on my pc
