still pretty early in its development, but im glad they're keeping the UI and the snow effects.
zsnes i heard wasn't very accurate, but i always enjoyed the UI.

Wow, ZSNES remake after all these years, kinda neat....

But I will wait to use it until it has more time for major bug fixes. I still use the old school version, as I imagin most everyone else here does as well. it works fine. No need to change until this one can outdo the old one.

Thanks for the update, though.

Yeah, was going to say the very same thing. It needs to be modern and accurate under the hood, otherwise it's just nostalgia fuel.

That's great news!

It was my - and I bet many of yours - introduction to SNES emulation.
Yes! my jaw dropped when I realize I could actually play Mega Man 7 on something like a modest Pentium 100. I think it was ZSNES version .351 or something.

HOLY COW what a throwback! I used to LOVE using Zsnes on my old 2001 Compaq back in the day. So many memories of navigating that iconic blue and purple UI with the green text at 3:30 in the morning haha

Glad to see we've come full circle and now even Emulators are getting remakes heh

I did love ZSNES back in the day, but I can’t say the new Super features do anything for me. Running on the GPU is cool, but unnecessary, and the weird photoshop filters and ability to overlay mode 7 with height map stuff is getting into DLSS 5, not actually the game anymore territory. I can see ROM hacks maybe taking advantage of it in future.

Also I have to wonder what kinds of overheads Unity will introduce.

A while ago someone on this forum shared an interview with the developer of ZSNES. Even though I never used it, it was a really interesting watch. If you have not seen it yet, it is worth checking out.

Amazing news. My first ever emulator is making a comeback. Looks like i'll have to drop snes9x then.

It's like seeing an old friend back.

I switched to SNES9x solely because of Kirby's Dream Land 3 not working and I used BSNES for Widescreen HD Mode 7 F-zero.

I miss the era of emulators trying to be more than just a black window.

Kega Fusion's snow, ZSNES' snow (although there's also fire I think) and even GENS' weird PSX battle transition effect are what made them memorable beyond their functionality.

My hope is that there will be a "Classic UI" design.

How does auto save states work?

That's cool I love znes i grew up with that emulator used it allot in my teens. Honestly I still use an old version of it. Dont care about acurcy as long as the games run fine. If i want acursy I would just get e snes console they are like 60 bucks here in sweden. What is expensive is the damn games.

I used ZSNES for way longer than I should have. Resolution and control mapping troubles finally got me to move on; I have since switched to Mesen, but ZSNES is the only emulator that really feels like home.

Yeah, kinda like when GZDoom's 'Willy Wonka-like' eye candy was used as the base for many new games.
