Every Shadowrun Game except the one from Microsoft

Great Games, Great Universe

While there are plenty of good-great licensed games, most of them being named in this thread, the most "interesting" one to me was/is The Thing. The fear/trust system was really neat and I can't think of any other action/survival horror that's done anything similar to it. It also recently got a really good remaster from Nightdive Studios, so if you haven't checked it out yet, you really should!

I'd also add Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War. While not my favorite games, and they're certainly a bit on the repetitious side, the Nemesis system was really interesting and novel.

Scooby Doo Mystery for the Genesis (it's also on the SNES, but it's a completely different game).
s-l1200.png

It's a two part point and click adventure that was released fairly late in the system's life that's rather fun and very charming. I actually remember renting it from Blockbuster back in the day, but didn't get far

Also Muppet Monster Adventure for the PS1.

It's a horror themed collect-a-thon platformer featuring the muppets done by Psygnosis and Midway. Loved it as a kid, still do now. It's sort of a bit uncommon in the states (same with Bugs Bunny: Lost In Time)

doraemon giga zombie no gyakushū, a Doraemon RPG that is a mere Dragon Quest clone, but a fun one, my only grip is the slowness of the character, otherwise is a great game, while not to the extent of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, you are the protag (As in the one holding the controller) with the avatar being a kid that Doraemon calls for help

the phantom menace game on ps1 is amazing. It is one of the most sloppily put together efforts ever, with pretty much everyone who plays it falling out of a level or breaking the game at some point. Also gives the player a weird amount of freedom.

This speedrun is pretty funny.

A thread for games based on a show, movie, brand, etc that you love, hate, or just find interesting in some form.
Astro Boy: The Omega Factor, and Wendy: Every Witch Way are the only ones that I'd find suitable to mention. Not a huge fan of licensed games, though I respect the ones that have a bunch of effort put into them such as both spiderman games on the PS5.

The Mummy Demastered, unless you got Metroidvania Burnout the game is fine, for once it plays more on the METROIDvania aspect rather than on the metroidVania one

The title of this thread is "interesting" and not "good". So I am gonna mention the PC Version of Star Wars Episode 1. An absolute trainwreck of a game I played as a kid with my brother and is about as insane as it is awful to play.

You can get an instant Game Over by stabbing Anakin with your lightsaber. Anakin has a full death animation AND a voiced line going "Ough!". I don't know why they included this.
You can kill every single Gungan in their city.
There is an NPC on Tatooine who, randomly, will yell at you to get out of his house and if you don't leave he summons a shielded droid to attack you which is pretty much an instant Game Over. he is the only NPC that does this. He is not plot relevant or has any quest associated with him.
There's an entire platforming section with awful controls while Jar Jar yells instructions at you over and over again.

it got a PS5 release...

Absolutely unhinged game.

Wild West C.O.W.-Boys of Moo Mesa arcade game by Konami - A really excellent Sunset Riders style of game. It's not as brutally hard as a lot of arcade games and run and guns in general tend to be.

The Adventures of Batman and Robins on the SNES is the best 2d Batman IMO. It's a near perfect recreation of the show. The Genesis version is a great game but doesn't really feel like a Batman game.

Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth is a great Castlevania Symphony of the Night clone

Ashita no Joe on Super Famicom, the game is okay at best, but what puts in in the "Interesting" niche is the fact that they keep the infamous ending even if you win,
you know, Joe's death

I think there was a missed opportunity with Adventures of Batman and Robin, Sega CD version. Instead of making it a racing game, they should have used the SNES Konami version but with the addition of the Sega CD FMV animation from TMS and using voice acting from the original voice actors in the text bubbles.
Would have been the best and most faithfull non-comic 2D Batman game

My faves:

Michel Ancel was one of the greatest designers ever and Peter Jackson seemed to actually care about his stuff getting good games. So we got these two bangers (Kong being the one Ancel worked on):

The best Batman game before Arkham Asylum existed:

Still the best TMNT game (yeah, that's right I said it) and one of the most overachieving arcade to console ports ever made

I think this is my favorite Marvel licensed game. It's PERFECT

Guardians_of_the_Galaxy_game_cover_art.jpg

Impeccably designed shooter/brawler hybrid

I played this not that long ago and I already think it may be my favorite run and gun game. Konami has made some of the greatest licensed games of all time.

Everything you could want from a Mad Max game

Starbreeze makes good licensed games, the sequel is not too bad either but the developers were different

Silent hill memes aside, Piggle'ts big game is a legitimally good game, obviously not a Dark Souls considering the Target Demographic, but can still get challenging and interesting with its puzzles

Computer version of Ducktales was by a different developer instead of Capcom, yet it was more faithful to the TV series. It had 16bit pictures, digitised sounds, you competed against Gloomgold and could even fly Launchpad's plane and also play as the nephews and Webby.
One reason I wasn't impressed with the NES version

I don't even consider Ducktales the best Disney game from Capcom on the NES (which is probably Rescue Rangers), but it gets all the attention. The Ducktales 2017 reboot even referenced it multiple times.

yes, it even had Scrooge use his pogo stick in one scene.
Had played the Reboot of the NES game but stopped in the frustrating finale where if you lose one life you get back to the beginning.

Though TV Reboot was a missed opportunity to adapt the adult narrative and humour of Don Rosa and Carl Barks, since they also featured Donald. But it seems creators were not up to the task.

Recently I discovered Snoopy vs the Red Baron and it's a great and really fun flight combat game. I recommend it.
