The Wii version of Ice Age 3 Dawn of the Dinosaurs is actually pretty great.

Let's see... Astro Boy Omega Factor is an absolute gem for the GBA. It's Treasure so no surprises there. Then on DS you've got Jump Super Stars. I imported that back in the day and it was well worth the trouble. The licensed Jupiter picross games are all pretty great too. I especially liked the Sega Classics and Kemono Friends entries.

I had a good time with One Piece Grand Adventure back in middle school but it probably hasn't aged great. Could say the same for X-Men Legends. A lot of fun back then but who knows how I'd feel playing it nowadays. And if we're talking X-Men, of course you can't forget MAHVEL 2 BAYBEE.

Ah! I almost forgot about Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People. Classic. That Harvey Birdman game for Wii was also pretty good. Short but sweet.

"John Wick Hex" has been one of those games that I decided I had to play as soon as I've seen the screenshot and the description in the eshop. Luckily I've found it physical, used and cheap at Gamestop, and though on Switch it has random crashes I've completed it twice and enjoyed very much.
Please note I knew nothing about John Wick: I've looked for videos of the movies after playing the game.

i remember X-Files on PS1 was pretty good?
also 007 Agent Under Fire on Gamecube has maybe simple but pretty solid gameplay, better multiplatform version imo

Batman '89

which spawned the Sunsoft NES and Genesis Batman games. I love the OST of those games.
And the game from the sequel movie, Konami's Batman Returns for the SNES. Also amazing soundtrack heavily based on the movie's film score. I love replaying those games just to listen to the music.

Half the reason why they're my favorite batman movies are those games.

My favorite licensed game was always: Yo! Noid

As a kid I thought this was a much better game then any of the other licensed games I had played like Total Recall. Of course the quality of the game (as I learned later) is because its a reskin of this game.
Actually didnt know about that. Was one of the games we played alot as a kid. I imagine today these kinds of reskins probably wouldnt fly.

I find it surprising that there's a couple of wonderswan games for Junji Ito's Uzumaki series, although it seems like no one has ever released a fan translation of them... Also like both korean titles released for the DS, inspired by Nexon's franchises Ragnarök and Maple Story. And there's also those PS1 promo games for Ghost In The Shell and Cowboy Bebop.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I'm completely obsessed by games made as a promo of wide-known trash food brands, like the ones for the SNES staring Chester Cheeta (shitty platform mechanics lol), the M&Ms games (my fav is the GBC one), Yo! Noid (NES), Coca-Cola kid (Game Gear) and so many others lmao...

Also love anything cartoon network-related, limited to early 2000s shows.
The Burger King promotional games for the Xbox 360 were a lot of fun also.

My favorite game tie-ins were the Nightmare Before Christmas ones for the PS2 and GBA

there's an MSU-1 version of Batman Returns for SNES that uses the actual Danny Elfman movie soundtrack.

I remember Brother Bear on the GBA being a decent 2D platformer. It may have been shovel wear but there was some effort put into it. There were branching paths after beating a level like Mario WORLD.

Scarface, The Godfather, The Warriors, The GitS games, That is but a few of the actually good licensed games that are floating in the ether. They shouldn't be good at all, but they're actually great
Yeah, the first three have always been interesting to me just from being based on movies from the 70s and 80s but all releasing around 2005/06. The 2005 From Russia With Love game also fits in with those, though I guess its no different than how we're getting Terminator 2 tie-in games released in 2025. ::thinking
Everything Konami got their hands on in the early 90's for the Arcades. They were the Kings of Cartoon show beat em ups.
Hell yeah! The turtles, simpsons and x-men beat em ups were all good, though I've seen no one ever bring up their Asterix beat em up. Cow Boys of Moo Mesa is also an alright Sunset Riders 2 in spirit.
I've been curious on what this ones actually like on a gameplay front just due to all 3 versions of it being absurdly pricey for a kids movie tie-in game here (about £100 on PS2 and DS, £50 on Wii)

All time favorite licensed game for me is The Warriors. Expansive storyline, including the origin missions you unlock as you progress, awesome combat, memorable characters & iconic moments throughout the story, rooftop rumble mode is so much fun & that's without even mentioning the Armies of the Night arcade game unlock at the end, which is a straight up homage to Double Dragon, which is fitting as many people called this game 3D Double Dragon. If there's a game I would love to see a remaster, its this one.

An obscure SNES/Super Famicom game called Mystic Ark, it has lots of the stuff i am a sucker for:

Puzzles, be Zelda Styled or Point-and-click ones
Vague setting
Customizable characters
AND Experience thatcan be gained without having to rotate your party

But the Menus are a chore, the navigation is SLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWW, the bosses are less tests and more sponges, your party's roles kinda suck and the event flags are horrible to figure
