Is PS5 worth buying?

Absolutely not, Sony is not worth supporting and there aren't enough exclusives to make it a worthy purchase, consoles in general outside of Nintendo are on the way out and the bloated development of AAA slop has totally decimated the industry.

I guess it's worth it if you can't get a PS4 Pro for couch gaming, or you if can't put together the funds for building a gaming PC. Honestly, the lack of true exclusives for the system has ruined a lot of the appeal of this current gen. Why get a new PS5 when a chunk of the games get Ps4 versions or ends up on Steam in 6 months time?

It doesn't help that even the slim PS5's take up more space in general than other consoles.

For base PS5, sure. If you don't do advanced Windows gaming and you want to cut the hassle of PC specs. Also, backwards compatibility is a great feature. Even if a lot of us do tend to take it for granted. I know there is the infamous meme of "PS5 has no games", but if you are making it your main gaming hub, it isn't that much of a problem. Just play the multi party games and buy a bunch of retail games (assuming you are considering the disk version).

game consoles stopped being relevant around ten years ago, nowadays they're nothing more than locked down computers with overpriced games and arbitrary limitations

I won't lie, I own all current gen systems and only the switch has kept my attention. I rarely play my Xbox Series X, and play the PS5 some, there's just not enough first party or exclusives out that interest me. I play the PSVR2 more than anything when it comes to the PS5.

That said, if it has some games you're interested in, sure that would make it worth the purchase, but don't buy it blind without looking into it's current and upcoming library.

I don't think it is, PS4 you could arguably say was worth getting for some reasons but as other posters have pointed out it's basically only a replacement if you don't have a PC or another console capable of multiplats but even then.. I find it hard to recommend. This old meme always comes to mind but it's even worse now, Sony of California (vomit emoji) doesn't deserve your money.

One game
I don’t know why

Yeah, I like it a lot. The interface is very smooth, Discord integration is very easy, downloads are blazing fast, the games look great and there's a good catalogue of games on PS Plus. I'm currently playing FF16, Spiderman 2, Helldivers, FF14 and Dragons Crown Pro. I really like the Dualsense controller, the rumble and feedback are superb, the triggers having adjustable tension is very cool.

I think it's worth the price now for a Slim with a disc drive. If you want simple, plug and play console with great games it doesn't get better than this.

Honestly the only consoles worth owning of the current generation are arguably switch and series x, and both of those are only arguable.

The switch can be emulated to such a degree that i don't consider it worth owning, the series x is only worth owning if you don't already own a 360 or xbox one, mainly for running those few 360 exclusive games.

The ps5 up until recently was only useful for playing bloodborne imo, but now yeah it's a paperweight.
To put it another way, if you have a quality gaming pc, the current consoles are effectively inferior versions of your pc.

There’s probably no need to reply to this thread considering OP is no longer on the platform.
But I agree with you.

No, it doesn't. It doesn't even have a slot for me to put my dick into.

I mean if it sucked dick then at least it would have one use.
Holy shit this is poetry

If you don't have a PS4 and really wanna play games at 1440p/4k then by all means snag one. If you di have a PS4, just invest in PC unless one of the few franchises Sony supports interest you enough to wanna be there day 1 instead having to wait 1-2 years for a PC port.

Its a great system, far better than the PS4 as an overall package (though my god I miss custom themes) and has full PS4 compatibility to boot. It'll play almost every major release super well for less than half the cost of a decent PC.

If you plan on modding the system, get a PS4 Pro since the CFW scene is far further along and you'll have a much easier time dumping games and playing backups.

If you're looking to be a pirate then save up as best as you can and go PC or wait a few more years for PS5 CFW to catch up.

But if you wanna legally play any non-PC exclusive on a solid system that'll run every game like a champ on modern displays and you're on a budget, the PS5 is a good box to do that with.

I have a PC and a PS5 and I'll always maintain that consoles still have their place as great entry level workhorses. Sure it doesn't have a lot of exclusives but if you value the plug and play aspect and are on a stricter budget it's hard to recommend a PC over one.
