Is it worth it buying an Xbox360 In 2024

I'd say do it, but make sure its a model that cant get red ring of death.

controllers are really sturdy, has both hdmi and rgb connector options if you need/want to use an older tv for whatever reason.

lots of great games for cheap at the moment.

you really cant go wrong

I'd consider 360 one of the best consoles of all time personally

I love having old hardware and I really want to play Ninja Gaiden 2 on the og hardware it was meant to be played on but pulling the plug on getting one is so hard for some reason ?
legit the only game i still plug my 360 in for is Ninja Gaiden 2

I'd say look at the games you want to play, and see if they're backwards compatible on Xbox Series X or not.
All three Ninja Gaiden games are backwards compat on Series X. If there's some you want to play that aren't, get a 360.

I still have my original Xbox, and have been currently playing Ninja Gaiden Black on it, despite being backwards compat, because I'm playing it on a CRT. That's something to consider too.

You can get a 360 relatively cheap nowadays and a lot of the library outside of a few standouts are affordable as well. I would recommend getting in now before maybe the next generation comes out, we are already seeing weird games getting insane used price hitches

I would say it isn't you can play like 90% of 360 games on an Xbox One or Series X/S unless you want to play Sonic 06 ofc but really I'd say just download an emulator

If you like tinkering, 360 is pretty fun, and that's besides the games.

Early fat 360's were trouble, but the fat Jasper variant was and is solid (still have mine). I've been running it as a bare mobo on my desk to do testing (not games) and without the air guide shroud it gets to maybe 65C. Fully assembled it never gave RROD. My old Xenon did though! But yeah, if, for instance, you see an eBay listing and the power plug opening has a certain pattern, you can tell if it's a Jasper.

Modding them is fun AND affordable, like more than ever. Besides obvious pre-reqs like soldering stuff and patience, the glitch chip and a Raspberry Pi PICO is like 7 bucks at Aliexpress. My glitcher is an ACE v3, with the genuine-looking brown PCB and authenticity code scratch-off on back and everything. So for less than 10 bucks you're SET for doing a fat RGH 1.2. A slim doesn't even require a glitch chip (RGH 3).

Lastly, you can get a *working* 360 for a song on eBay. Grab one that 'doesn't read/eject discs' for SUPER cheap if you know that reading discs is semi-obsolete. RGH it, and slap a 2tb drive on it, or up to 16tb drive if you patch the NAND to enable it.

DO IT.

As someone who owns a series x, I would say you are better off with a 360 than any modern gen console. With 360, you will be able to hack and run games. With the way entire Series X infrastructure is made, I fear that all games I own will be gone in next twenty years when the console becomes obsolete, and with how much digital based they went for with this console (like it is very hard to find a series x dvd, and even if you run it, the CD's are just basically glorified CD keys since you still have to download the game after that instead of just straight up running it). So get yourself a 360, get it hacked, run cool games on it, and enjoy. They will probably last longer than whatever I own officially right now.

If you can mod it and find it at a good price, why not? But I would also recommend buying a fan for it.

you should buy one that is already modded imo. trying to mod it yourself will be hard, and having someone mod one for you is probably more expensive then just buying a modded one

2006 cannot work on the One/Series?

I also prefer emulation for the 360 (and Project-06 for that game).

Yeah Sonic 06 doesn't work on One/Series. I would like to see a decomp of the game though I think the original needs to be preserved better even if it sucks. Ik there's P-06 but iirc isn't recreating the entirety of 06 just the main levels and I think the story.

I am entirely fine not to replay the side missions from the main story, wandering in the hubs and even the bosses (which are too much of a "wait until they've finished their pattern before you could fight them again") in the same way The Unleashed Project only has the day stages from the game.

Well it plays the best version of most seventh gen multiplats. Great system, but I would get a S or E model.
A pro for the E model is that it lets you output audio through the headphone jack like the PS3 does with its AV port on the back so you can transmit the picture to a monitor via HDMI but have speakers pick up the audio.

The 360 version of Dead Rising is the best version for purists because how botched the PS4/Xbone port is.
unfortunately most the 360 exclusives that are not on Xbone BC have drastically raised in price but many multiplats are still cheap.

Microsoft sucks for not keeping the store up like Sony does for the PS3.
