I’m curious to know which piece in your collection makes you go "wow!", and why ::thinking

I'll start: for me, it's the Japanese Premium Box of Xenosaga Episode I. There's just something about the sheer amount of care put into these editions and the choice of merchandise inside them. Right alongside it, I have to mention the Japanese strategy guide, it's over 400 pages long. If I knew Japanese, I’d probably read it every single day. The attention to detail is just incredible!
Both of these items hold a special meaning for me: the Premium Box was the 50th piece in my personal collection of Japanese PS2 games (I’m currently at 193!), and the guide was the first strategy guide I ever bought. So, they both represent major milestones in my collecting journey.

I know it might sound silly, but to me, that’s the true beauty of collecting. It’s not just about hoarding games or flexing the most expensive title, but it’s about building a connection with your games, having specific memories tied to them, or simply being fascinated by their exotic look and aesthetic style. In my opinion, a collection built with heart and genuine curiosity is worth way more than one that just aims to accumulate as many titles as possible.

But enough rambling from me, what about you guys? ::surprised-pikachu
(sorry for my bad english ^^")

My collection is quite small—only 4 games—but they are my favorite games of all time. Out of them, it’s gotta be RefRain Prism Memories, mainly because I had no idea they made physical copies of this one at all. It’s as sleek and stylish as the game itself, and I feel a bit of awe being able to hold this thing.

Wow, it looks soooo cool! It's a bullet hell right? Do you recommend it?

Depends on the day I guess. Ask me on most and I'd probably say my limited edition PSP copy of Persona 2: Innocent Sin from back in the day or my limited(?) edition of .hack//Link for PSP.

I never really got into buying too many fancy editions of games really.

Rule of Rose. was hunting for that game for a while and then my dad randomly had it stashed in a big cd booklet. he had picked it up used at a gamestop a long ass time ago so he just gave it to me when he found out i had been trying to find a copy that wouldnt be a mortgage payment.

Yup! I’ll be honest, I’ve played some of the games regarded as the best bullet hells ever, and this one beats them by a mile for me. There’s just so much love and care put into it, from the menus to the character designs to the absolutely godly OST. 200 hours later I still get chills after you clear the stage 2 mid boss, the popcorn enemies come rushing, and the music swells into this gorgeous synth line with DnB drums pulsing. It’s really, really good. On sale on Steam right now as well as part of the Bullet Fest event.

My limited collector's edition of htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary.

I loved the game so very much, and the experience of beating it has shaped what I've become today with it's game design.

I own all the bonuses this edition comes with on Steam, like the artbook and the like, but I still plan to use it's CD someday somewhere I can play it, and the Mion badges on the one true coat I plan to put it on. Maybe even the hat instead. Gotta be conscientious with where I put accessories on clothes!

I also just had such a nice experience with the seller. He told me to take great care of it, he felt like he was losing a child with giving it away ::sailor-embarrassed But I aim to do just that.

Mion is comfortably perched above my LE of CrossCode ::heart

can't grab a pic right now, but mine would have to be Resident Evil Director's Cut. there's nothing special about the case itself or anything (besides the Capcom mail-in voucher thing still being in the manual), but it's the same copy i had when i was a little kid, and it's the first "grown-up" game i ever played.

My most valuable is Silent Hill Downpour, but the one I cherish the most is Alpha Protocol. Both for the Xbox 360.

I love Alpha Protocol! It's such an underrated game. It's janky, but it weaves a very memorable narrative and experience. It was almost forgotten to time, but now it's available on GOG.

My signed copy of Singularity on PS3! I know it is a PS3 game, but the system is 20 years old so surely it counts right (hehe)? It is my favorite Raven Software game and years after release I had a chance to send off my copy to Raven's offices where they were kind enough to have all remaining staff members that worked on it sign it for me. Even had a little letter in it from one of the designers who remarked about seeing me online a bunch after most people had stopped playing.

Only autographed memorabilia I have and still my favorite thing in my collection even if it is worthless monetarily.

Hmm. Maybe my Jak and Daxter: Limited Edition Complete Trilogy Movie DVD. It actually reminds me of the time I did collect my favorite stuff. Funny is that despite it saying it plays on any DVD, it would never play on any DVD but my PS2.

Maybe also Lunar SSS Complete and Eternal Blue Complete. I know it's more in vogue to say the originals on Sega CD, but I started off with the PSX games and they are more nostalgic

Probably a complete Mega Man X3. Fun game. Only reason I'm proud of it was that I got to use a photo of the complete game to shut-up a $#!^-talker on 4chan a decade & change ago in one of those "retro" threads who was mocking everyone posting about being fake Mega Man fans. The replies were funny.

My copy of Xenosaga 3 CiB that I bought for 18 bucks at GameStop in 2012. I still have the receipt pictured below. Had no idea at the time that it would become a rare and expensive PS2 game. I was simply a fan of the first two games and finishing my playthrough of the trilogy.

Either Kuon or Rule of Rose CIB on PS2 which I bought for $2 each at a garage sale back in 2011
Yeah man. Early 2010s were the sweet spot for picking up a lot of the really expensive games now for pretty cheap. I got Xenosaga 3 for 18 bucks at GameStop and Earthbound for 80 bucks on eBay around that time.

EarthBound has always been frustrating because it was an expensive game back then, but even as I grow older and have a more stable income, it continues to get more and more expensive. It's always out of reach lol

Yep, believe me, I should NOT have been paying 80 bucks for a game. I was a senior in highschool with no job. Pretty sure it was just some money I had from a birthday. I didn't have any idea that it would be worth so much more as the years went on. I had just beaten the game on emulator and kind of felt a sense of OCD that I didn't own my new favorite game. Glad I did

I own a copy of the special edition of Disgaea 2 on PS2 which I was pretty happy about. It was the first game I found while living in Japan that I had to snatch up.

Unfortunately the box got damaged though :(
