Unless you were a fan(?) of Penetrator and wanted his armorthe remake really does completely disrespect the art style of the original. The small additions don't really seem worth it either.

The original runs at a stable 720p 30fps like 90% of the time, may not be up to modern standards but it's far from running poorly. Played through the game for the first time a few months ago, so it's not like I'm misremembering or anything. The remake existing means we'll probably never get a proper remaster, though I'd welcome a rereleased that ups the original to 1080p 60fps.Given that the original ran pretty poorly and was stuck on PS3, yeah I think the remaster was as 'necessary' as any other port/remaster. I've never really cared about the 'art design' of the souls series which is pretty unoriginal grimdark fantasy most of the time. I also don't care about souls game lore though. I'm in it for the gameplay and the gameplay alone. So having the game run smoother on modern hardware with a higher resolution is an easy win for me.
I wish they would at least improve the fight with Dragon God... and nothing happenedWish they added the extra world. Bluepoint remakes could have been really awesome if they add stuff like the additional colossi in SotC. A missed opportunity imo

idk they made farming any of the near impossible items incredibly easyoriginal miserable experience to play
It was the only way to buy two spells that use the same rare material without having to wait for another run.idk they made farming any of the near impossible items incredibly easy
That's wild. Demon's Souls is made for repeat runs.It was the only way to buy two spells that use the same rare material without having to wait for another run.
I think the ease of play lies in absence of a limit on number of spells cast (if you farm enough mana items, you'll be able to recharge them for quite a while). That's wild. Demon's Souls is made for repeat runs.
I always get a little miffed when people complain about how easy Demon's Souls is without doing New Game+. New Game+1 & 2 were the hardest things I've done in the series. Granted, I was doing challenge runs (only leveled intelligence and didn't change my armor from the default), but I've done challenge runs and platinum'd the other games and they didn't beat the hot holy heck out of me like this one did.
Metroid Zero Mission? All remakes are unnecessary.
No exceptions, sorry.
Like Shadow of the Colossus for PS3?A simple internal upscale and higher framerate would've been enough.
they also removed the item duplication glitchidk they made farming any of the near impossible items incredibly easy
That's a completely different game from Wanderers from Ys, though. The story is more or less the same, but the way you engage with the game is completely different.Ys the Oath in Felghana?
That's what this version was? If it was good then yes.Like Shadow of the Colossus for PS3?
I cannot blame a remake for fixing glitches since this could be seen as an exploit.they also removed the item duplication glitch
If only this didn't mean that you can only have easy access to one and not the other... Imagine if The Twin Snakes was the only viable way to play the first MGS on modern consoles or Mario 64 DS was the one over its N64 iteration being playable on all Nintendo consoles since the Wii...I prefer the art direction the PS3 version of DS had, but I appreciate the remaster having a different look. That way we have two different ways of enjoying a great game, instead of just one.
That's still a remake as an ARPG with platforming. That's a completely different game from Wanderers from Ys, though. The story is more or less the same, but the way you engage with the game is completely different.
