If you were ever banned what would most likely be the cause?

Like.... like what?

I sure hope I don't get banned from here or the Discord, although I'm not really active on that discord save for lurking sometimes. I kinda felt a bit like i pushed it in that mental health thread a few weeks back. I try not to offend, I even try to cut back on swearing when typing here but sometimes it just supplements the paragraph you feel? I guess maybe the most likely thing is going too far in a conversation. I get really into conversations I'm invested in and sometimes I say the wrong things.

At least you shower, unlike certain others…

One of my pet's peeve about moderation is if they forbid anything related to politic or religion (which is normal if it's a video game platform) but then they themselves make memes and various comments about politic and religion they don't like (such as making a meme telling how "capitalism should be thrown out" or "Christianity is fundamentalism") but if you dare replying that you don't agree with them then they will immediately warn you about political/religion talk since it goes against the rules.

The issue is that if a mod is in fact wrong they're basically using their power to shut any opposition...
It depends on the perception of the person. If people viewed the person as overly confrontational and antagonistic/annoying, watching them banned under even dubious pretenses probably wouldn't annoy them much. If people liked or had even mixed feelings about the user, then it would probably be a mini controversy.

But even then it becomes more about patterns of behavior. I doubt many would quit a forum they really enjoy over a single bad ban decision. They'd likely think "that sucks" and keep truckin unless it became clear that the staff was taking far too many people out for weird means and ruining the vibe of the site altogether.

Luckily that doesn't seem to be the case here, I haven't seen anything like it at least. The people I've come across that have been posting specifically off-top political posts have almost exclusively posted actually racist stuff, or posts that belittle their opposition without nuance. As usual, people would do well to keep certain thoughts to themselves and focus on the video games, especially since this is a pretty international forum with people from all over.

I'd argue that posting shit about "woke/DEI" and the like should fall under "sensitive topics" expecially for a retro video game forum, because it doesn't do anything but instigate arguments unrelated to the topic at hand, which sounds like the definition of a "sensitive topic" on such a niche forum, but I get that's not everyone's viewpoint, even if I disagree and think it's obnoxious.

for me I'd be posting a leak as in the Classified war thunder leak

*I like my flight sims to have a 1:1 flight model*
war crimes, what a time to be Canadian eh?

just kidding, it would defiantly be trolling on the forums in some way

well according to half the internet for not agree with their bullshit they all call me. A Yatzi, Facist, homophob, racist, communist, misogynist and so on I lost track on all the things I been called.

So if Im banned it will be becuse I don´t agree with lunatics on today's politics. I mean that´s why im banned from Reddit,
Don't worry everyone gets banned on Reddit its easy

The other issue in the "no politics" rule is that some are telling that everything is inherently political, especially art forms (games included depending of the person you ask).

I think there's a difference though. Like sure, media is always putting out opinions or set pieces based around political ideologies. But I think it should be obvious that no one really wants to hear the latest bullshit about Orange Man or Skamala or whatever the hell else they call these people. Being an American I can first hand tell you that so many of our people make their patriotism and their political ideologies their entire personality and it can be quite overwhelming. Sure, we aren't in the greatest position right now in the country. But other people and countries have their own issues to worry about and it can be quite annoying to hear the latest of it on a retro game forum of all places. GBATemp is kinda bad for that.

That's hardly the same thing, but some people are allergic to the term "political" no matter the context, which is completely fine, I'm not saying that's not valid.

There's a big difference between dissecting media and talking about different points from "political" perspectives et cetera, and injecting your personal real-life morals and beliefs into a discussion in order to subvert it, which is what the rule is for. To prevent that.

I agree, since anything can become political if seen by certain people or put in certain context. It seems to be pointed at undeniably political topics like the one’s you stated.
