If you were ever banned what would most likely be the cause?

Reddit is apparently a hellscape in some way because you could get banned solely from getting downvoted as I've heard.

Its not that bad in most places, but each subreddit has its own moderation team. And any of them can ban you for whatever reason they want. It all depends on their rules.

Years ago, I was a chat moderator for a few months, let's say.
Got banned "because yes" ?
I had my patience (and some rage issues), however, I was respected because I was "too comprehensive, even to trolls".
However, the chat itself was having security issues from time to time.
So, basically speaking, got banned for convenience of that chat (and its people).
I don't blame them, these days, that chat is an utterly chaos. Too stressful.
There was only one reason to keep there: to regain the contact of a friend. Good chatting times...
( ꩜ ᯅ ꩜ ) ?As long as you are not “Banned from the Universe” everything is fine, right?

I was perma-banned from reddit a while ago, and I never understood why as I wasn't raging or anything. I used to get into these discussions about the economy since that is what I studied, nothing really extreme or heated, but it is the sort of topic that people get angry about, so people will report you to mess with you.

When you get reported over and over, the algorithms will eventually ban you. I got a message that my account was banned by automated systems, I mailed the reddit team and heard nothing back.

And that ban system they have is wild, I have not been able to make a new account, even using a VPN didn't seem to work, it's some Skynet level of ban.

Everything's fine, don't worry.
Thank you for your concern, lady Laura `_`/ (y)

Automated ban is a plague because there's a high potential of false positive.

I don't know, I don't think I post on the forums enough to really commit a ban worthy sin. Maybe for going off-topic one too many times or something, or some sarcasm being misinterpreted.

No wait, I got it; being Canadian.

Or maybe @Spike will finally ban me for posting that apparently curse image of my pineapple pizza in that thread from like two months ago.

I'm wondering if a mod banning someone they don't like for the remotely simple mistake is a valid one.

While someone being in good terms could get out more easily from stuff.

Same with memes that one posting it would be fine but not another.

I could see it from a human emotional level. You hear about that a lot in places like Reddit and Discord of mods going a little power mad or playing favorites. I don't know about any particular bans or drama (if there even is any) here on the site, but the mod team here seems fair and reasonable; I think it's a good thing that they're active on the site and forums and posting like regular users.

It's quite a dilemma for moderation online.

You either have an automated system that works on keywords and reports but could end up having innocents getting punished because of someone sending their followers or bots to mass report (or detecting keywords so that a spanish speaking person saying the word black in their native language which has a different meaning in english could get flagged).

Or you have a mod that could get power hungry but thankfully a mod team is always the better choice to prevent power abuse.

But I'd say that if the mod is someone who doesn't like you then no reason to bother staying, it ain't worth it.

PS: I think that some mods in online social networks are either not mature enough to understand that disagreeing and trolling are different matters.

Probably for making fun of people who feel victimized over getting pushed out of internet forums for their unconscious toxicity while casually dismissing other people’s very real problems as imaginary or insignificant. Then again, making fun of them wouldn’t fix anything, and it’s not like I didn’t have some pretty rotten opinions when I was younger, or benefit from the lower standards of behavior at the turn of the century which allowed my worldview to grow and mature at a slower pace than is expected of younger folks. So maybe I wouldn’t make fun of them after all. Maybe I’d be friends with them, and try to share joy in what we have in common, and really consider their pain, and take it seriously, even if they dismiss mine…

I guess fedposting, then. On an unrelated note, anybody here like CRIMES?

Damn guess I’ll have to add that to my own possible list of crimes. For I too am guilty of being Canadian.

Finally, someone I can speak to in my natural typing accent; 'eh there, bud. How's aboot them retro gaming thingajigs? Boot time, if I do's say so myself. Sorry.

Me probably for disagreeing and pissing off members of the community (not this one, you guys are mature and reasonable)

So if Im banned it will be becuse I don´t agree with lunatics on today's politics. I mean that´s why im banned from Reddit,

Being banned from reddit is a badge of honor

Haha! Lol..*ahem*.. I was once banned for hacking into the age restricted category and shutting it down for a few days...(I don't like platinmods)

Too argumentative, it can def come off as overly hostile

I sure hope I don't get banned from here or the Discord, although I'm not really active on that discord save for lurking sometimes. I kinda felt a bit like i pushed it in that mental health thread a few weeks back. I try not to offend, I even try to cut back on swearing when typing here but sometimes it just supplements the paragraph you feel? I guess maybe the most likely thing is going too far in a conversation. I get really into conversations I'm invested in and sometimes I say the wrong things.

At least you shower, unlike certain others…
