If you could, would you transfer your mind/brain into a robot body?

No more periods, weight gain, acne, hormones, needing to eat or use the bathroom, no genitalia for people to want?

Sounds like a dream.

I don't see why not

To be a cyborg sure. Cyberpunk 2077 enhancements? Stronger, faster sounds familar...

However, into a full robotic body? One thing no one's mentioned, is without the nerves and shit, you won't be able to feel touch or feel being touched. Or smell, or even taste. The Superman animated series touched on this with Metallo:
However, this could turn into a special kind of personal hell if your brain later down the road suffers a brain degenerative disorder like alzheimer's dementia as your brain lives longer? Parkinson's?

it will be possible when mankind gets more evolved, both technologically *and spiritually*, as of now only a few people on Earth have a vague idea about how the incarnation process work, when we'll decipher that it will be possible to just swap out bodies, make artificial ones, have like one main body and a few rc drones or a few backup bodies, use multiple bodies at once

most aliens already know how to do all that from what i've heard

if i had to swap out my biological body for an electromechanical one it would have to have those characteristics:
- lightweight frame (max 30kg for the entire thing)
- 200+ kWh of energy storage (not possible with lithium)
- built-in wings or propellers
- 30+ km/h of running speed
- thermal cameras
- AC charging port
- solar panel charging port
- reverse charging ports (to charge other devices using myself)
- IP69 water resistance
- standby mode (so I can get out of that body whenever i want and come back later)

if i can't have all that why even bother

Nah ... i would rather transform into a power ranger .

But if we use Technology into ultimate Sci-fi badassery , i go VR-troopers , Baby !!

one thing people forget to consider is how much of your personality is just part of the physical body's firmware

the addictions, the routine, the little things you do on autopilot, the muscle memory (which includes your phone's password), fear, sexual urges

what are you truly ? just an observer getting the perceptions of a flesh atronach ? how much can you control that thing ? how much of you is you and how much is just the firmware of the flesh avatar ?

those are things to consider when you're thinking about swapping bodies, you won't be the same person anymore, maybe you'll be closer to what you truly are ? idk

every goofy TV show episodes that are about body swapping are unrealistic because they don't take that into account

maybe my schizo nerdy stuff is off-topic here but the thread would go stale if it was just about "hey wouldn't be cool if we could do X"

However, I don't think the TSA would be nice to me tho ::sadkirby if I'm going on an airplane or something

Personally no.
Transferring my mind or brain is only transferring data, not adding my soul to the robo vessel.
But even that aside let's say to fit into my beliefs and soul does get transfer where the fuck do I got not if when I break a part of myself.

Cause even as a Robot, I know something will go wrong, breaking my robot arm or rusting.

I may have health issues every day, but at least in a flesh suit, I don't need to worry about being spammed with air-dropped Rick Rolls at 3 am.

God, how horrible it would be to be hackable, bright side tho, you could probs jailbreak yourself and run Doom on yourself.

Nope, I believe that many of the things that give meaning to life are strongly related to our own mortality and physical limitations.

The "soul" has no scientific basis.
What about consciousness? The general consensus seems to assume that one's consciousness will automatically transfer over into data but I'm not convinced it's that simple.

For context, consider sleep-talking; it's something I have a history of doing when I'm stressed. I've held conversations with people that I have no memory of because while I could recognize the person and understand context of the conversation enough to respond in a sensible way, I was asleep the whole time. Unconscious. It's like my mind is perfectly capable of running on autopilot without me. In other words, my consciousness isn't necessary for my mind to carry out tasks I used to think I needed to there for.

Is scanning the brain and converting it into data enough to ensure that one's consciousness follows? How do we know if the end result isn't just a robot body with a mind running on autopilot? The lights are on but no one is home.

this is me if you even care

imagine typing "has no scientific basis" without thinking to yourself "man im a huge nerd and i should turn off the fucking computer and go outside for the first time in months"

couldnt be me i'd hate to be that guy

The worst curse I can imagine is that of immortality.

I'm sorry but how is having rational thinking anything to do with "nerds" or "touching grass"? It's thanks to them that we got the Internet.

Furthermore the concept of a "soul" is entirely up to people but isn't a scientific fact.

this is a lot of fuel to burn but im not going to say anything.
my suggestion to avoid getting laughed at in the future is to stare really hard at what you wrote and think about how it sounds outloud.

And could you explain why?

Furthermore what's your actual, backed up, scientific explanation about the possible existence of a "soul" to begin with?

What's the issue telling that there's no scientific ground for that concept?

my initial thought was an emphatic yes, but then i thought like. it'd be cool until like 10 years down the line i'm not getting software updates to keep me compatible with advancements in networking, and the folks that make my eyes have gone bankrupt. the company that made my finger actuators went public on the stock market and now all the replacements are super expensive and designed to fail after a certain period of time...

now that i think about it, i kind of like eating nice food and having working genitals. plus i think the mind/brain distinction is pretty important here. if i had to be a robot AND deal with brain chemistry, that would suck bigly.

im not even saying there is any explanation im just laughing at the way you speak.
"furthermore" oh my GOD.
look at this next you'll say "per se" i bet thats in your vocab.

My mind? No. Duplicating your mind into a computer seems like a good idea, except it just creates a copy that gets to run around. The me that's living inside this meat prison is still right where it's always been, but now you have to watch some youthful interloper running around with your bank account.

My brain though? Assuming it's a well-tested procedure, sure! That's basically my essence, and if I can keep that while getting rid of these fragile bits, I'd do it.

Honestly though, I'd settle for just replacing my entire digestive system. That seems to be the thing that breaks down and causes problems, not to mention it's a major vector for illness. I'd live with a metal digestion or photosynthesis or whatever if I could.
