A couple months ago, my regular bunch happened to get their hands on a pretty massive collection. All sorts of fascinating stuff in there, but the biggest highlight of that whole thing was an Atari Jaguar CD, that works without issue. Not just one working CD unit...two of them. Up until then, I had never seen the Jaguar CD in any capacity (in contrast to plenty of standard Jaguars), so it piqued my curiosity that a couple were pretty close by.

Now, I know in my right mind that there was no way in hell I could ever see myself owning one of this notorious shitboxes. But I saw an opportunity, nonetheless. To say you own(ed) one is cool. To say you played on one is also cool. And unlike many cases, I could prove that I really did play on the real thing.

Fast forward to this past Monday. I had hinted in a previous visit that I wanted to give it a go, and they pulled out the spare CD unit without much hesitation (one was the display piece, the spare was in the back hiding in a box). I had to improvise the best I could to get my camera to show the system in action (I don't have a phone stand). Ultimately, I had about an hour's worth of time to run my recording sessions, and I covered two of the four games they had. It was just enough material for me to compile a worthwhile video on this thing, and give some thoughts about the CD as a whole.

It still feels kinda weird that I didn't just find one of these literal toilet systems in working order, but I got to give it a spin. It's nice to have companions!
