How long have you been emulating games?

Twenty something years by now.
Myself and a friend would get our games from some shitty, malware-ridden site called rom-world, that on a few occasions required a full OS reinstall by the time we were finished.
They'd use the goodsets roms and we'd have downloaded a bunch of games with (b) in the title, then wonder why they didn't run properly, as we had no understanding of good codes at the time

(b) would have been written with square brackets, but if I do that here, it gets the bbcode working and bolds my text

Since 2006 LMFAO My father loves getting stuff through other means. I actually started gaming seriously through it aswell!

I'd say I started around the early to mid 2010s but wasnt really able to play most of the things I wanted to play until recently once I built my gaming PC. I actually got some decent mileage out of my phone out of all things playing stuff like warioware which is surprising considering I'm not a fan of mobile gaming as a whole. Unfortunately I was doing that during the days you had to side load GBA4iOS to emulate anything, apple allowed them on the app store as Delta years later after I already stopped using my phone for anything like that. Great timing lmao

Ive been emulating since 2012, when i was in middle school. it all started with visual boy advance and a desire to games i always wanted to play but couldnt afford, playing mother 3 on my familys shitty little office pc

Probably around 16 years, a cousin showed me how to emulate sega genesis games after mine died and from there I branched out into trying out stuff from any platform I could learn about that had a decent emulator

I think I have been emulating since 2015 or something. The first game I emulated and played was Conker's Bad Fur Day and it was, and still is, a blast.

since 2010 approximately. That fine night I discovered the world of video game emulation. It started with sega console games, and then it was off to the races ::coolstafy

I remember my first experience with emulation was before I was even an adult. It was roughly at the middle or end of the 2000s. I can't remember if my first emulator was either ZSNES or ePSXe, but I can confidently say that use emulators more than 10-15 years.

i technically started in the 2010s by going on those online emulator websites and playing pokemon r/b, didn't get super far but had fun with it.

sometime in 2017 or so i tried to emulate the ps2 so i could play the early ratchet and clank games, which was something i was dying to do, but my dumb self at the time thought that each game had it's own bios and fruitlessly tried looking up "ratchet and clank bios" until i eventually gave up.

later around like 2020 (or maybe 19, idk tho), i thought to do it again, but this time i actually succeeded, and thus since i had already played the original ratchet and clank trilogy through the remastered collection, my first emulated game became ratchet deadlocked.

Since 2001 when we got a PC, I downloaded Pokemon Red as my first ROM (I've mentioned this in another thread) but can't quite remember what emulator I used, then I remember downloading Sonic 3 & Knuckles and running it on Gens. Both ROMS were from EdgeEmu if anyone remembers that?

My dad was a high school teacher, and would regularly park me in the computer lab, where I’d sift through the endless spiral-bound reference materials and occasionally play Oregon Trail. One day some of the high school kids showed me how to get zsnes and roms… that was it for me natch

Can't exactly pinpoint, but since 2007
And the very FIRST game I emulated was Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 3 on GBA with VisualBoyAdvance
Turns out the first time I experience Emulator was not with GBA and it was even earlier than that

With MAME and Arcade games
my Cousin bought a Greek magazine aimed for teenagers that came with a DVD with Mame and FULL of Arcade Roms!

I got a burned copy of that, and we played a lot of its game Co-op :-D

MAN DO I MISS THE TIMES Magazines and newspapers came out with DVDs games and movies for free to make you buy them!

Probably when I was 3 or 4 and we had some N64 games on our computer that stopped working shortly after, then my brother's original xbox stopped reading discs when I was 6 and a friend of my dad installed NES, SNES and N64 emulators alongside multiple roms on it, as a fun fact on the SNES list there was a little game titled Felix the Cat that was fully in russian and had a game over screen where Felix is ripping off his face, I spent like 10 years thinking I had dreamed that thing but no, apparently it's some russian romhack or illegal translation or something that changed the game over screen for shits and giggles.
