Yeah.

But personally I prefer practical looking designs. Like Rex, armaments mounted in a manner that allows for quick deployment. The resulting designs look alien and can sometimes be nerve-wracking to encounter. Adds an unintended fear effect to it as well.

Honestly I like both flavors. Heavy, realistic-looking mecha where you can see moving parts is really cool. But sometimes more cartoonish super-robot anime is fun to watch too.
