I hate how ‘convenient’ things are pushed to be. For example the auto ai response at the top of searches, the ai assistant added to every, self checkouts, online appointments, and so many other things. And yes I see how a lot of those things have a very good reason to be but why is it the pushed and expected method. People need to be pushed out of their comfort zones and actually talk to each other. ‘Convent’ things so often come at a cost that we just don’t think about because they’re so easy we just speed through them(extreme example being sweatshops) .
A product to this is the minimalist design that feels so popular with websites - my family stopped using Netflix because my mum got tired of their bullshit. But we recently got it renewed and I was stunned to see the new layout
It comes off as an unfilled template . Just horrible
I’ve also noticed how YouTube has been slowly transitioning to rounder graphics
It comes off as impersonal and childish.
Another related thing is recommendations, more often then not is just the same basic stuff over and over. I have not actually watched anything recommended to me from an algorithm (besides on YouTube) for quite awhile. If I want to watch an anime I’ll start looking through everything they have categorized on sites like MyAnimeList from oldest to newest, the end result is me finding stuff I never would have otherwise and coming out with a feeling of victory
I totally understand people don’t have time(or make time) for nonsense like I do, but I honestly feel that is part of the problem. The push for constant convenience pushes for people to constantly be rushing through things that should take time (or even let them feel like they have a choice on how they spend their time), those things that make those quiet moments of contemplation. At least that how I feel bombarded with all this nonsense

plus I love I know I love maximize designs and doing things as inconveniently as possible, I’m very aware of my bias
