More specific to the electric guitar but;

- Different types of wood do not change the sound (electronic output) of your guitar.

- Just because an amplifier is powered by vacuum tubes does not make it sound any better or even noticeably much different. In fact, tube amps are inferior in every way to transistor amps. They're much heavier, they're less reliable, they waste a lot of energy, they get very hot and they're stupid expensive. The only reason why transistor amps have such a bad reputation is because of crummy 1x6 practice combo amps from the 80s-90s.

"Thread Necro'ing" is a good thing. Conversations can always have more input added from new people...suspending or penalizing folks for wanting to add to a conversation is really crazy, imo. I'll never understand the anger it causes.

Yeah, I get it if it's just some newb going "GIB LINKS PLOX" but if it's a legit query or addition to the topic, why be mad? Just my two cents.

-straight pipes CAN sound good, it just depends on the car. don't straight pipe a fucking yaris.

It's bad for coded messages but perfect for communication in case conventional methods are unavailable thanks to its binary system

Hexadecimal can also be nice but trickier.

If they made me God Emperor for a day the first thing I would do would be to change the calendar we use. Having every month be a different number of days, causing the day of the weeks to shift from month to month is crazy. Either we should do 12 months of 30 days, with a 5/6 day "extra" week at the end of the year, or 13 months of 28 days with New Year's/Leap Day as an intra-monthly day. I'm in favor of the latter, that way every single month would be exactly four weeks and be identical. No more buying calendars every year, it would always be the same.

When i was young i got a fire cracker with a small piece of paper in it that had a morse code key exactly like that. Me and my friend at school memorized the whole thing and could communicate all sorts of ways. we could even decipher it automatically and string together sentences but that was a long time ago and my memory has faded since then

Because there are 365 days in a year and that doesn't really divide evenly into anything. So you either have to have months with different days or extra days that don't fit into any month. I'm a fan of the latter, and there are some calendars that do it (Egyptian, French Revolutionary), but it's a hard sell.

I find it sad that seemingly 95% of RPG game discussion revolves around the same four or so series, when there are a wealth of underrated games (most of which are just as good, if not better than the mainstream ones) waiting to be discussed, analyzed and loved.

~365 days of 24 hours each. There could be more ways to subdivise days and years with those 8760 hours.

Maybe it's more convenient for divisions so at the end of the day it's not a big deal even if lunar calendars are also a thing.

The Gregorian calendar is quite "recent" for human history.


It's interesting that we're using this calendar that has a religious origin yet we've used the Common Era naming to avoid any references. Maybe a "truly culturally neutral" way of counting time is sadly hard to do... Humanity's universal calendar and year won't be a thing until long after (like Gundam's Universal Century).
