The console has brawlers, but a lot of them are not good, or average at best. Though I have no problems with recommendations. To me, the best brawler on the system is Panzer Bandit, and that game is exclusive to Japan. It's basically Sony's answer to Guardian Heroes. The game is almost just as good as GH. There are no RPG elements, but it works in the game's favor, and is even more arcade in nature. While not too unique by today's standards, each character plays completely differently, and they have a fighting game move set with directional inputs. The game is not a walk in the park, and you only get 5 continues with no lives. It's not the hardest, but be careful in co-op. If I remember correctly, both players share continues. My favorite character out of the roster is Kasumi. I love the ninja fighting style she brings.

i like Force Mode on Tekken 3
its like a side scrolling arcade style brawler

Panzer Bandit and Gear Fighter Dendoh, combat-wise, both games has an 'oomph' behind every hit unlike most other brawlers.

The genre did not transition to 3D well. Fighting Force and Gekido Urban Fighters are decent enough I suppose.

If I were to recommend any title I think I'd have to go with The Rapid Angel. It's Japan-exclusive but it's a solid 2D brawler/platformer and the language barrier isn't much of a problem.

I have always liked Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero.

I know, I know. Every time the game gets brought up, people act like it's one of the worst things Midway ever made, and maybe it is. but I just never hated it.

It's kind of its own weird thing. It's not really a straight-up beat 'em up, but it's not really a platformer either. It's somewhere in the middle, and somehow it just, works for me.

The kontrols are definitely a product of their time, though. They basically took MK2's kontrols, threw in a dedicated turn button, and then expected you to do platforming with them. Looking back, that's kind of hilariously awful.

Does it play great? No. Have I yelled at it more than once? yup yup.

tobal 2 is... interesting
it plays like a 3d fighter, but in quest mode its 3d dungeon crawler beat em up, check the very end of this video lol

i literally can't beat this game with rewind/save states on the mortal kombat collection, there's WAY too many "one shot and dead" parts it's freaking annoying as hell.
got stuck at that rock golem boss monster thing, even with guides, videos doing it, it's just such a shitty boss fight to finish i just gave up, was 0% fun why'd i bother going that far idk lol.
i mean it's still the 2nd worst game game in that collection (the first is Gameboy Mortal kombat lol)
