Hot takes

there was no intent, it was the best they could do; a limitation.

I can't stand the ATB system, I basically can't enjoy any games that use it, I thought I just didn't enjoy Final Fantasy until I played and loved Final Fantasy X. I much rather a traditional turn based system like the one used in Dragon Quest.

That actually hurt

I really dislike Sony's modern direction.

As someone who loved and played the Playstation since the beginning, I couldn't care less to play any of their modern games other the Astrobot, which is a Mario style 3D platformer.

They have ruined Insomniac, Sucker Punch and Naughty Dog. The closure of Japan Studios is unforgiveable.

And on the subject of Naughty Dog, none of games after Jak 3 deserve to be called Naughty Dog games.

Give me Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter over any of that movie game guff.

Sorry, more ranty then originally was expected?
I really wish Sony wouldn't ignore the awesome IPs it has under it's belt. I would love to see new Ape Escape and Twisted Metal games. When they closed down Sony Japan Studio it was all over, at least we got Astrobot out of that ordeal, that game IS amazing.

Online multiplayer rots brains like meth. Couch multiplayer could have saved a generation of incels. Also Sonic was always bad.
We were all good until you said Sonic was always bad

And then Code Veronica wasn't limited yet kept it.

Resident Evil since 4 made your character too powerful to the point they had to put more enemies to make it viable.

Tank controls are meant to make you not able to just dodge everything and you get used to it eventually.

I still think astro bot didn't deserve to win game of the year , no i didn't try it but it still doesn't deserve that award other games that were nominated deserved it more.

So the title just says "Hot Takes" I know it's in the retro gaming discussion section, but here's my non game related hot take.

Nirvana was a garbage band and Kurt Cobain was a terrible musician. Hole was a better band and Courtney Love was 10x more talented then he was.

Video game companies did nothing wrong , gamers enabled everything they did.
Uh no, everything was Bethesda's fault when they released an optional, worthless downloadable pack for horse armors. The people who bought it are not at fault, not in the absolute slightest; not one nano millimetre of fault.

The people that bought MW2 at launch and catapulted the industry into a worldwide phenomena is not at fault; it was infinity Ward that created a game that people wanted to play so bad. They are at fault.

The death of physical media in PC gaming is Valve's fault, not the gamers. Never the gamers.

The gamers are never at fault, ever.

And who enabled microtransactions? Why gamers didn't boycott it? Why gamers buy a new COD game say it's shit then buy the new one again? What you mention isn't gamers fault but everything else? The state of the industry right now.....half assed releases.......one of the biggest offenders still happening video game companies proved they aren't trustworthy yet some people still buy their games...

It's kinda human nature to pick the shitty option that's available to them over doing without...

Are we under obligation to bow out of the hot takes thread whenever our counterarguments to someone's take have sufficiently deescalated to be widely considered reasonable and sensible and therefore to post them would be to post cool takes?

being more serious, both parties are at fault.
the gaming companies make enough money, they just want more money than they could possibly ever need. they take advantage of systems set up to help improve games after release, such as patch updates and dlc.
and some gamers have poor impulse control. a lot of people with gambling problems play games to try and steer such impulses into something that isn't financially damaging but still stimulating. and when gaming companies decide to turn their properties into slot machines, those people can't help themselves but spend.
and a lot of people would prefer to pay a few bucks to skip putting in the hard work.
there's a lot to talk about on both sides of this.

This is the kind of shit I was just talking about in my last message. Heh...

yeah, that's what humans will do. we can and will be lazy when the opportunity presents itself.

I meant the "if our counterarguments to hot takes are so middle ground that they don't themselves count as hot takes, should we avoid posting them?" message

oh, i thought you meant the other post.
i think, by the nature of making the response in the first place; it is a hot take, mostly against the other person's hot take.

I was being, very obviously sarcastic and joking.
your later posts were more jokey and sarcastic, but that first post seemed more sincere. there are people that do think that part of the downfall of gaming was helped out by that horse armor dlc.

which I deliberately described as optional, worthless downloadable pack
not my best material
