Hot takes

Here are my hottakes:

It doesn't make sense to buy a console after the ps3/xbox360 era, the common user hardware became so powerful that most consoles are just pc with private OS and libs and, even so, port for multiple platforms is so common even with exclusives and with the whole piracy going on, it is better to build a pc then buying a console nowadays

People hate the 6th generation of Pokémon because the switch games used the models of the 3ds, but, the models are not ugly for the console they were planned to, 3ds was very weak rendering anything remotely close to game cube graphics, so the games were either chibi models or n64 game style.

Connected with the previous one, people actually love idea behind the DS generation games rather the games itself and the nostalgia tickling your mind, the DS gen games were very limited in terms of choice, the story is blend, Pokémon designs are nice at best and are outrageous at best, ice cream and garbage Pokémon, on unova and just reskin of old designs masked as evolution on sinnoh, WTF?!, a lot of events were soft locked for dumb reasons like "You have to complete the game before two weeks to the white forest/black city be anything, but a complete wasteland" or "you have to attend a very specific event on Japan to be able to see that cutscene or be able to catch some legendary", the 4th gen passing is horrible, most characters are forgettable, the enemy team ideas and design doesn't matter, the all fall into generic 80s cartoon villain type, the human designs, region appearance and pixel art are top tier though.

Fourth, a lot of Nintendo games are slop games with recycled ideas from the same previous games, specially Mario, Pokémon and Zelda.

Sonic game formula just doesn't work in 3d, even the best games are plain, and all the 2ds games fell the same, so it is really a hate or love franchise

Most of the Wii games are either shovelware or games that are so experimental, they feel more like a tech demo or some incompressible mess.

Most modern titles feel more like reskin of the same game then actually different games, specially on the PlayStation

Valve created and established a lot of things people complain about games today like skins, DLCs, gamble, DRM, etc. yet a lot of people praise Gabe as some kind of savior and a lot of his speeches are taken out of context, like his whole take about piracy was part of marketing strategy interview about how his service, Steam, resolved the piracy, but even so, the company is still better than the others.

Games are products made with profit in mind, and the profit of a game is the money used to make another game, if a game company doesn't profit, even if the games are well received, they declare bankruptcy.

Nintendo attack fan games for the same reason they attack Palword, they want to make slop games that are going to be sold as water in a desert and if someone complain about quality, their response is about how their games pushes their abilities to the top, but this speech doesn't resonate well when a game made by a college student or some indie company just proves you wrong and set up the bar higher.

Most horror indie games are either really short games with story that don't have any conclusion or essence to it or a new FNAF wanna be, the first one is kinda of sad because it made the whole PS1 aesthetic feel more like unfinished game demo scenery.

Most indie games are Tumblr inspired content with characters trying too hard to be quirky and adorkable, that they feel more like a pain in the ass, boring, repetitive and unlikeable personalities with ugly repetitive designs.

The whole woke games complaint is based on the fact that most gay characters whole personality is being gay and discriminated, the dark skinned characters whole personality is about being from the hood and being discriminated, even though, some are not even black Americans and the women are basically asshole men with anger issues and long hair and the whole, diversity adaption, just undermines the importance of how these tropes could add to the lore and make it seem like the only way to this type of characters to get the spotlight is either stealing from some white dude or feminine women or being someone unpleasant, men, even the 80s Japanese games were less stereotypical than this, very sad.

A lot of the time grinding in an RPG feels more like trying to elongate the time of gameplay artificially than anything else.

A lot of old games had good ideas, but poor execution, like Sonic R, a sonic game with race mixed with platform sounds like a match made in heaven, but the game design and implementation were so poor it killed this idea.

Donkey Kong arcade is the most influential game of all time, it even resurrected the gaming market from the Atari clash and a lot of game franchises were either made based on some sequence of it, like the Super Mario franchise, or a response from the competitors, like Sonic, or by themselves, like Zelda, and a lot of games mechanics, tropes, ideas were born from that also, like saving, phase-world map system, etc.

Thanks for reading it all, and sorry for its size, I didn't imagine I had so much hot takes, I would love to hear your options on that list, thanks again and bye

Welp, they are good 3D models on the console, 7th dragon III has good realistic models, i think honestly is because Gamefreak at that point was sweatshopped by TPC

Actually fifth gen is more love for its story, agreed with fourth gen (Except HG SS)
Fourth, a lot of Nintendo games are slop games with recycled ideas from the same previous games, specially Mario, Pokémon and Zelda.
Agreed with Pokemon, debatable with Mario and Zelda, Mario hasn't changed since it works and Zelda basically nuked it's status quo with BOTW
Most of the Wii games are either shovelware or games that are so experimental, they feel more like a tech demo or some incompressible mess.
Ditto For Nintendo DS. and both of them are my favorite Nintendo Hardware, fortunately the games that did it right they did it HELLA right
Games are products made with profit in mind, and the profit of a game is the money used to make another game, if a game company doesn't profit, even if the games are well received, they declare bankruptcy.
Sad but true, that's the reason Demon Crest was the last game of the saga despite being easly the best Gargoyle Quest

Another Hot Take: Water is wet

That or "Hi i am a adowabwe game fow kidz" :D "I LIED I AM A METAPHOR ABOUT BAD STUFF" D:
Most indie games are Tumblr inspired content with characters trying too hard to be quirky and adorkable, that they feel more like a pain in the ass, boring, repetitive and unlikeable personalities with ugly repetitive designs.
As a Indie fan, that a truth that hurts me, fortunately they still are more varied and unique genres to balance the saccarine
A lot of the time grinding in an RPG feels more like trying to elongate the time of gameplay artificially than anything else.
Fun fact: If you, say, used a cheat to max your level in the original Dragon Quest, the game will be beatable in the time it takes to beat Castlevania (Half hour at most)

Your takes were really insightful,

As someone who has been using Tumblr over a Decade I can CONFIRM this!

Thank you, I really liked your response, I tried to be as direct and dry as possible, because I have listened to people say so many things about gaming that just wasn't true and this was kind of vent for me, LOL, thus the why of some obvious things also being in the thread, thus water is wet.

Batman is the worst part of the Arkham games, he's so boring and aggro. He's like an edgy sonic OC, the only reason why people like him is because he's voiced by the late great Kevin Conroy. He's best written in Arkham Origins and Arkham Shadow, and performed amazingly by Roger Craig Smith.

Legacy of Kain is amazing, but all the actual gameplay either sucks ass or just fills space between story moments or puzzles. It would be 1,000x better as a tv show, novel, or comic series. And it can't come back without Tony Jay, no one can replace him.

Edgy sincerity is better than bright, ironic, and hollow. I'll take a thousand Dark Voids over one more Saints Row reboot or Mass Effect: Andromeda.

Outside of the original Card Pocket Jockey (which is now available in an inferior port to Nintendo Switch), There are no worthwhile exclusive Nintendo 3DS games that are true classic must-play games. The only reason the console is beloved is because of the compatibility witu the superior DS library and the large selection of virtual console and cheap digital releases games that were available for the console. Nintendo's output for the system were basically forgettable sequels, remakes rehashes, and collections. Nintendo really phoned it in with the likes of Mario Party Top 100, Warioware Gold, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Yoshi's Wooly World, Luigi's Mansion 1, Star Fox 64 3D. As a system that could play GB, GBC, GBA (for the Ambassador ones), DS, and 3DS, it was great. But the 3DS library is completely forgettable.

The character designs made for Castlevania Judgement go hard as fuck actually and I think Konami should've hired Obata for more projects.

Like come on look at this

Since people are going crazy over the rumors of a remake/remaster today: I always thought Chrono Trigger was good, but way overrated.

There's nothing wrong with playing on easy mode. Not everyone has the time or the patience to spend hours on top of hours trying to top the game at its maximum levels of bullshit. If you are a person who likes playing things at maximum difficulty, great. If you're not, also great. Just let people enjoy what they enjoy.

(Besides some games feel like wisdom tooth extraction even at the easiest settings, ask Super SF2 Turbo, or Mortal Kombat 2, lol.)

I think I already said this but mother 3 should have also been released on the DS

If Resident Evil 4 hadn't been an RE but a new IP it wouldn't have had nearly the same popularity, I feel the same about BotW.

Many people don't want to accept that the logo influences more than we think in the “success” of a game.

I don't care that they removed The OffSpring and Bad Religion from the Crazy Taxi re-releases.

Hideo Kojima is overrated and nearly ruined Silent Hill by turning it into a generic FNAF-like horror game where you can move.

Resident Evil (with the exception of the 7th) has never been a horror franchise. It's always been about action and comedy.

Nier Automata gameplay is so simple, boring and mid in general, that I find hard to believe it was actually developed by platinum games.

God of War should have ended with God of War 3

I don't like soulslikes at all.

I've played the most popular GTA games, and I got bored as fuck. Games like Mafia and sleeping dogs are way better than GTA.

OK OK hold up hold up you think playing games on easy is ok? WHAT? HOW DARE YOU DISRESPECT MY GATE KEEPING GAMER CODE? NEVER EVER SHOULD YOU PLAY ON EASY EASY IS FOR PUSSIES or kids you are a fully grown adult you should have the mental and physical capacity to beat games at high difficulty! You ain't no gamer if you play on easy.

But really easy difficulty can ruin the challenge just pick the most fair difficulty usually the hardest one.

Nintendo and Sega's seals of quality were a lie

Sonic 2 é o pior jogo da trilogia do Mega Drive.
O elenco principal de Persona 4 é horrível, com exceção de Naoto
Bioshock 1 It is better that Infinite
A crise do Final Fantasy Core é mal escrita
