Yeah but that's kinda what I mean.
The thread kind of turned from innocuous opinions to people seeing how far they could go without breaking the rules, and it led to everyone getting really argumentative instead of just curious.
But I get that part of it is just me. I don't give a shit about what people think of something that's very clearly different/taboo depending on where you live for example, because it's such a moot point to bring up in an international forum without people interpreting it in bad ways.
I'm WAY more interested in hearing someone explaining why they hate salt liquorice or whatever on a silly vidya forum, I don't care what their views on nuclear power or guns are, and everytime someone drops a "hot take" in areas like those it usually just turns the thread into a minor battlefield for a while. Just boring is all.
Not against the thread existing, I just think it kind of devolved in a boring way (which is why I don't interact with it as much anymore).![]()
Yeah I remember lol, that was wild.No even if its an innocuos opinion you'll still get shit over it, I got it over cartoon opinions!
As long as they use the appropriate threads I don't see a problem with it.A lot of ppl like using this site to moan about how much their life sucks or to do moral granstanding, its how the internet is nowdays
Who needs an explanation for hating licorice? That's shit disgusting. I'll say it, I don't care if it's "not hurting anyone", I'd straight up ban licorice, and spend billions in taxpayer dollars promoting the idea that it's perverse to eat it on every possible platform (social networks, all levels of education, movies and video games) until no one dares admit to liking it just so they won't be completely ostracized. Young people are going to be cancelling older people for enjoying licorice 15 years ago when I'm done.Yeah but that's kinda what I mean.

FINALLY, SOME REAL ACTION!!!Who needs an explanation for hating licorice? That's shit disgusting. I totally agree! I guess I'm just tired seeing the same tired "I'm gonna say something real edgy and controversial" type takes on otherwise pretty unrelated enthusiast communities, because you see it a mile away, yet people always fall for it lol. Also I find it super interesting that people have very different views about important topics in different countries, IMO it's part of the richness of humanity.

There are lots of way a society can organize itself. The problem is people acting like they found the sacred truth of the universe and any questioning of it is a crime even though half the stuff they believe will be taboo in like 15 years (at least that's how it works in the West).
I think its more anglos or ppl who grew up on the 2010s internet than the west, europeans I meet online dont see themselves as the moral standard of the world. Yeah, I agree with some extent, a lot of old games were limited by hardware and the scope and culture at the time, but even if consider that, most would be considered too basic, cheesy or corny by today standard, like the personality of certain characters, the whole level and world system, not being open world or being a very limited one, many rpteated characvthers with reskin and the whole the game being kind of too different from the original platforms compared to its ports are some things I thing people would complain about it.Most classics would be torn apart mercilessly if they were released today -- not because of the dated graphics (of course), but because they just wouldn't be good games nowadays.
*Bloodborne emulation enter the chat*Here are my hottakes:
It doesn't make sense to buy a console after the ps3/xbox360 era, the common user hardware became so powerful that most consoles are just pc with private OS and libs and, even so, port for multiple platforms is so common even with exclusives and with the whole piracy going on, it is better to build a pc then buying a console nowadays
Welp, they are good 3D models on the console, 7th dragon III has good realistic models, i think honestly is because Gamefreak at that point was sweatshopped by TPCPeople hate the 6th generation of Pokémon because the switch games used the models of the 3ds, but, the models are not ugly for the console they were planned to, 3ds was very weak rendering anything remotely close to game cube graphics, so the games were either chibi models or n64 game style.
Actually fifth gen is more love for its story, agreed with fourth gen (Except HG SS)Connected with the previous one, people actually love idea behind the DS generation games rather the games itself and the nostalgia tickling your mind, the DS gen games were very limited in terms of choice, the story is blend, Pokémon designs are nice at best and are outrageous at best, ice cream and garbage Pokémon, on unova and just reskin of old designs masked as evolution on sinnoh, WTF?!, a lot of events were soft locked for dumb reasons like "You have to complete the game before two weeks to the white forest/black city be anything, but a complete wasteland" or "you have to attend a very specific event on Japan to be able to see that cutscene or be able to catch some legendary", the 4th gen passing is horrible, most characters are forgettable, the enemy team ideas and design doesn't matter, the all fall into generic 80s cartoon villain type, the human designs, region appearance and pixel art are top tier though.
Agreed with Pokemon, debatable with Mario and Zelda, Mario hasn't changed since it works and Zelda basically nuked it's status quo with BOTWFourth, a lot of Nintendo games are slop games with recycled ideas from the same previous games, specially Mario, Pokémon and Zelda.
Ditto For Nintendo DS. and both of them are my favorite Nintendo Hardware, fortunately the games that did it right they did it HELLA rightMost of the Wii games are either shovelware or games that are so experimental, they feel more like a tech demo or some incompressible mess.
Sad but true, that's the reason Demon Crest was the last game of the saga despite being easly the best Gargoyle QuestGames are products made with profit in mind, and the profit of a game is the money used to make another game, if a game company doesn't profit, even if the games are well received, they declare bankruptcy.
Another Hot Take: Water is wetNintendo attack fan games for the same reason they attack Palword, they want to make slop games that are going to be sold as water in a desert and if someone complain about quality, their response is about how their games pushes their abilities to the top, but this speech doesn't resonate well when a game made by a college student or some indie company just proves you wrong and set up the bar higher.
That or "Hi i am a adowabwe game fow kidz" :D "I LIED I AM A METAPHOR ABOUT BAD STUFF" D:Most horror indie games are either really short games with story that don't have any conclusion or essence to it or a new FNAF wanna be, the first one is kinda of sad because it made the whole PS1 aesthetic feel more like unfinished game demo scenery.
As a Indie fan, that a truth that hurts me, fortunately they still are more varied and unique genres to balance the saccarineMost indie games are Tumblr inspired content with characters trying too hard to be quirky and adorkable, that they feel more like a pain in the ass, boring, repetitive and unlikeable personalities with ugly repetitive designs.
Fun fact: If you, say, used a cheat to max your level in the original Dragon Quest, the game will be beatable in the time it takes to beat Castlevania (Half hour at most)A lot of the time grinding in an RPG feels more like trying to elongate the time of gameplay artificially than anything else.
As someone who has been using Tumblr over a Decade I can CONFIRM this! Most indie games are Tumblr inspired content with characters trying too hard to be quirky and adorkable, that they feel more like a pain in the ass, boring, repetitive and unlikeable personalities with ugly repetitive designs.

Wow it got really stupid in here.
Gamers being stupid? What a surprise!
