Hot takes

you have been banned from the British club for tea lovers! How dare you insult tea? Do you not know that WARS were fought for tea ? Do you know how much tea has an impact on people lives?

For millions of years people drank tea its the natural drink of life , disrespecting tea is unforgivable crime.
Listen, I'm glad for people who can like tea, and I'm very clearly the odd one out here.

I just think it's kind of a waste for people to have gone to war over something that to me just kinda makes water worse.

I came with that up for comedic effect I doubt wars were fought for tea.

I mean, there were several wars where tea was a factor. A few wars back during the period of colonization were fought to maintain tea being part of the trade that Britain was receiving, and the Boston Tea Party pretty directly escalated into the American Revolution.

As for wars fought entirely for tea, that I don't know if it happened for sure, but I really don't think it would just be off the table. Wars were started for less.

Yes trade purposes were indeed a reason for conquest and aggressive expansion

Spices are an example for this.

Saying that we're all equals is one of the biggest gaslighting we've ever gotten in human civilisation.

Sure, in theory we've got the Habeas corpus and the provocatio ad populum which were the basis of our modern western civilisation but in practice we lack the society and technologies to make everyone truly equal.

Diseases, disabilities and people that are criminals (in the malicious way of course) are what prevents that. We can only try our best fixing what can be fixed but the school system, social status, family history and even the area you're born in can give you advantages or disadvantages compared to others.

Sure, sometimes you get to see the fabled "self-made man" that went from 0 and became a millionaire but let's be honest: most are actually from a wealthy family or had some help (or met the right people) and what was true decades ago would no longer be applicable.

We could make a world where everyone is truly equal a reality if we could focus on science and societal evolution but we're stuck fighting over trivial things.

As a wise man said: “Truth is, the game was rigged from the start.”

PS: But I refuse to be pessimist, there's always a chance to make things better: 150 years ago kid were dying young from illnesses we're all vaccinated against, we had no easy access water, no electricity, no way to communicate instantly like today, less people able to read or count, etc... Maybe in 2125 people would look at us like backward folks that worries or fight over useless things.

Modern Social Media isn't as bad as what people make it to be.

- Twitter is an excellent source of meme cluture
- Reddit is best for finding niche information about something you're wondering (if not, it can get very close sometimes; I almost fixed my PC when it came to figuring out how to install Windows back on my machine when I was trying to get into Linux)
- Discord is for quick communication with people. Its not a forum, don't use it like that, but its good to just chat with some people if you don't utilize much of the servers feature. Instead of a server like Genshin or Minecraft, you can make your own private one for your friends which is 99% better than having to speak in an extremely populated Discord server where your responses are like nothing to the average person.

The only reason the social media sites are bad is how the owner of the business is making it, alongside the popular communities that make up the platform. If you ignore the popular communities, then you can make those sites better for yourself.

I know those, I studied latin and law in school, I just couldn't help myself with the quote
I tried to study latin but I couldn't make it work out. I'm surprised I can speak English well online though.

That's not really the case though, ever since the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen it's been always understood that men are not equal but that they must be made equal, and that such equality must be enforced through Constitutional laws.
Society doesn't say that we are all equal, just that we must strive to even the odds to make equality among men real through the social contract.

Why would you do that? learning that shit in high school was one the worst experiences of my life (alongside Ancient Greek)

And the biggest issue is that laws and rules are made for most but not everyone.

If someone has issues aside from special care the rest of the law still applies even if they're intrinsically incompatible with.

No law is perfect I agree but this is why special cases are trickier to handle even for people who work in the legal field.

I feel that it's a goal we have but can never reach...

I know, I hated the teacher that did anything but actual latin lessons...

I understand your struggle. Spanish and Italian are tough enough for me as is. Can’t imagine learning Latin, seems really intimidating, especially since unlike Spanish, it’s got little connection with Arabic so I don’t have the usual leg-up I’d have with that and Italian.

I had that stupid thinking that if my mother language is Latin-derivate I would've had an easier time learning them...

Yeah, the Caliphate went to visit Spain at some point. I'm surprised that some French words are in Russian and inversely thanks to that one emperor.

I suggest you keep trying, imagine what sort of demons you can summon once you master latin.

Zero escape is my go-to place for idioms that sound smart but won’t actually make me smart (yeah you can tell I don’t like ZE. I like the idioms though)

999 was a novel idea for its time. I kinda agree that VLR got too cryptic and confusing and ZTD felt like a fan-fic.
