Hot takes

In a world where art is valued only if it generates profit for the IP holder and is cast aside if it does not, piracy is, in fact, morally justified.

Also, Zelda's story kinda sucks.

I generally dislike people who only play FPS. The second they ask what genres you play, they always put down your favorite genres. EVERY SINGLE PERSON I've met is like this. "Oh that's STUPID..." "OK, well, UP YOURS and your Halo then."
I HATE SVC Chaos. "It's so broken it's fun!" HARD NO. Shitty music, bad controls, bad game system.
Mortal Kombat is only popular and relevant cause of the gore. Nothing else. Covering up the women was another stupid ass decision. "Women would go out and fight like that.." Shut Up.

If it was only bc of the gore all of its clones wouldve found success
Mk also has cool characters, a fun setting and story and atmosphere and an engaging combat system

I like SNK vs Capcom SVC Chaos, it's an absolute jank that still remains fun if you ignore competitive balance.

But here's the hottest take ever: I ::heartLOVE::heart SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy and wish they'd make a sequel for it. ::smirk1

You know what?
Screw it.

I don't think 3rd Strike is all that.
It's a fine game, good even. But it's absolutely nowhere near the deep, crowning masterpiece of fighting games everyone makes it out to be.
And honestly, it would be pretty forgotten if not for that Daigo thing at EVO. Not to mention Gill's boss fight absolutely sucks.

Now excuse me while the FGC raids my house with flaming pitchforks or something. ::lol

(That goes for Garou too)

Not opening my wallet is always morally justified, I'm not going to pay unless I'm forced to by shit like Denuvo.

It's not something I can articulate very well, but playing DMC 3 gives me a bad taste sometimes and its got nothing to do with its difficulty, which I find to be a good fit for a beginner like me. I'm on my first playthrough and on Mission 18, and I just zoned out after the chessboard battle at the beginning. Having to fight the bosses again also didn't help. The whole time I just want to get back to playing DMC 1, which I find way more fun. Why I find DMC 1 more fun I can't describe, and I'd probably like DMC 3 if I got better at it, but I'd rather spend time trying get better at DMC 1 instead because its so fun. It's a shame because DMC 3 is obviously very well made, and has a strong community even after 20 years, but I guess it isn't for me.

For what its worth, the type of action games that I like are God Hand, Urban Reign, God of War, Ninja Gaiden 2 and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge. These play pretty differently from DMC, though.

Also, I do not like Ninja Gaiden 1 as much as its sequels. I guess my lizard brain doesn't like the adventure elements? Even though I like games like Warrior Within and Tomb Raider Legend.

Even at their most ambitious, most stories in gaming are at the very best sporadically average by the standards of just about any other storytelling medium.
I find games that are trying to tell a story are about average when compared to other art forms. Though the first games I think of when it comes to ambitious stories in video games are Shin Megami Tensei 2, Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross, Xenogears, Umineko When They Cry and the Legacy of Kain games. Umineko in particular is probably my favourite story ever, up there with The Mysterious Stranger.

I miss the Resi Evil elements from later DMC games that DMC1 had.

Mass Effect (the whole series) is overrated.

Bioshock 2 is the best Bioshock game.

Syndicate was the last halfway decent Ass Creed game.

Arguably the only title besides Onimusha where you can play as Zero in a fighting game so I'll give it a pass.

I like my fair share of them but most original Gameboy games look boring and ugly as hell

YA KNOW WHAT I HATE??? In Ace Attorney, I really don't like all the spiritual mysticism BS that was added in Justice for All and stayed with the series for a very long time. It takes away from the atmosphere – what does a murder case matter in a world where ghosts exist and can be communicated with? What does investigation matter in a world where you can use a magical orb to see peoples' innermost secrets? That stuff always really bugged me, and, especially in the third game's last case, made me feel that a lot of what the characters were accomplishing was moot. Those games really needed to focus more on the hard science, not paranormal nonsense.

It's why the first game is my favourite, because it has precisely none of that "communicating with the afterworld" stuff, and why I actually prefer the Investigations series over the mainline one. (Though I've only played the first three main games, nothing after that.) I'm willing to stretch my suspension of disbelief to advanced technology or scientific research in a game about law – some of those things may not be "realistic", but at least they're believable. It's when you bring in mystical magical mumbo-jumbo that my eyes kind of glaze over. Trials and Tribulations is a great game, but I really do feel like that element of the last case dragged a lot of the experience down.

And while we're on the subject, paranormality is also what tanked the Ace Attorney/Professor Layton crossover right from the start for me. That game had an unbelievable amount of potential, and they threw it all away for some idiotic isekai plot about witches in fairyland. HOW DISAPPOINTING.

Mega Man 5 is one of the worst Mega Man games to ever exist and Mega Man 6 is better than it in every single way.

Here, I said it.

Mega Man 5 was the second video game I ever played in my life and I absolutely adore it for that reason, but while I do think it has some upsides and fun stuff, I don't know if I would play it as much as I do without the fond memories I've attached to it.

MY hot take is that I just don't enjoy Metroidvanias. Like, they're not BAD, it's just a "not for me" thing, where I don't really enjoy exploration in the context of a side-scrolling action game. I've been trying to get into them since my dad brought me home the yellow-box release of Metroid back in the day, but they've just never clicked. (Hypocritically, I will say this only applies to side-scrollers and I LOVE when it's an FPS, but I'll leave that for the experts to figure out.)

Even with the Zero Project patch applied, Mega Man X3 is a painfully mediocre game that doesn't deserve to be compared to X1 and X2.

I think X3 just generally gets lumped in with the goodwill people feel for the first two games, because hooooooo boy is it a lot of tedious running around. X3, X5, and X6 are all just variations on the same issues with the X series (i m h o) – a vague sense of direction, too many minibosses, unfun weaponry, bland enemies, incomprehensible plot, and bland music.

Actually, here's a hot take for ya: I prefer X2 to X1 by a considerable margin. I don't really like the X series at all, though, so take my opinion with a fat grain of salted wheat.

Here’s a hot take for you: the Pokemon franchise in its entirety has sucked horribly since it went 3D with X/Y, even without a certain sausage-sucker making music for them.
i found bw2 incredibly boring and tedious but x & y amazing and really had a sense of adventure. 😆 different strokes for different folks fr. the pokemon series after xy were absolutely forgettable so i wont comment

my hot take is that all mario games are pretty boring. big snoozefest. i did like mario wonder but ehhhh still gets dry very fast

I don't think you should leave any website/community (atleast if you are liked there)

Hasbro could've handled Thomas and Friends better than both hit entertainment and mattel

Le Foret being ignored when talking about Xiu Xiu's best projects is criminal in my opinion. Their early era is the only era that people generally like and then they ignore one of their best. Like dog, that album has Bog People. Bog People is like a top 5 Xiu Xiu track. What are you on about? Like y'all love A Promise and Knife Play, but then they always fucking skip Le Foret and go straight to The Air Force. C'mon man...........

Probably my hottest take but

I seriously don't get people that gets all bitchy and whiny about questionable stuff in fiction (I'm talking about showing dark themes like cannibalism or problematic relationships, I know the thread is about non-gaming hot takes but take the funni incest game as an example since it's the most recent thing I can think of), stuff like that has existed since ever but only recently I've seen people trying to censor and do genuine harm to people that have no ill intents and just try to share their (although questionable) creations.

I'm of the belief that fiction can't really have a hard impact on reality and censoring stuff that deviates from what is "morally correct" will drive us to a point where stuff depicting stuff like same sex attraction is going to be censored since this kind of thinking opens the door to people with actual ill intents that want and will take control over the censoring bodies to erase what they see as "morally incorrect"

At the end of the day, you can just simply choose to block and ignore people that shares that kind of content and keep going with your life

It's only a hot take if you live among the Puritans.

I have a lot of negative feelings towards cosplay community nowadays. Dont get me wrong 10 years ago it was my dream to become a good cosplayer but it was... just more fun. People did their cosplays, it was in bad taste to buy it. And it was about having fun, making something, living as your fav character for a day. Now i feel like its mostly made for gaining followers and just online fame. Without love for a time that you had to put into your costume. I know there are still people who make it a real craft but just... i dont like how people started just buying more costumes instead taking some time and making one yourself.
