Hot takes

I don't know if this is a hot take anymore, but I don't like how Pokémon generations since 6 have each come with one gimmick that they completely get rid of afterwards. That seems to be about to change, though.

Maybe this is a hot take: I think the mainline Pokémon games should adopt Legends' battle system (with some changes) and save the turn-based combat for Pokémon Champions or whatever competitive Stadium equivalent comes up.

Maybe they could try giving us eight moves per Pokemon in the main games for added strategy and keeping the four moves as an optional ruleset or mechanic in future competitive games

Mega evolutions were innovative but too Digimon-y.

I'm a bit of a purist but turn based is good and I don't wanna see that vanish from yet another RPG franchise.

We got too many JRPGs wanting to be action to appeal to the button mashing loving player that don't wanna bother with strategy...

I wish they would make more interesting Pokemon spinoff games – they all seem to have dried up (except mobile gacha games, of course) these days. I really loved the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, and a lot of the puzzle games were very good, too. I'd also love to try out that Pokemon/Nobunaga's Ambition crossover. And the Tekken one! Why don't they do stuff like that, anymore? If the mainline games are going to keep sucking, they could at least use those monster designs elsewhere.

BG3 aint so good .
Awesome game that popularized Crpgs again but the game itsself isnt that great.

Especially when you are in a battle while waiting for your turn and ALOT of NPCs are in the Battlefield . I wanna play a game and not waiting for my decomposing demise in a small war of metal-sticks vs flying woodsticks vs firey special-effects .

Tales of the Tempest is actually pretty good in terms of gameplay, it is miles away from Symphonia in terms of gameplay and Lore, but you lose nothing if (Like me) that was how you met the Tales series

Deep Lore does not equates good story.

Yes, your world can be as complex and complete as Tolkien's Middle Earth but if your story and narration are bad that means nothing about that world.

I'd even argue that storytelling should focus on making a good one with a nicely done narration regardless of the depth of the lore since it's usually built after several entries.

I'm tired that many games are FromSoft wannabe with the whole "our game has a minimalistic story but deep lore to keep players engaged" that puts a stain on how world building is done. Not every game have to be cryptic in the story for the sake of appearing smarter.

No, not Origins. But that series is totally separated from that shit with that stupid and useless trainer.
Honestly I like Indigo League mostly for the 90's nostalgia and the craziness of the early seasons like that one episode with guns or when they show real life fishes in a world with pokémons or

It's 5e, of course it's bad.

Having the same controller for all 3 platforms has severely degraded the ingenuity and creativity of videogames.

Well, it was a natural evolution of gamepads.

The SNES was the template of all 3.

THIS !! I played my fair share of D&D 5e on my table and this Pen & Paper monstrosity was a bad experience when you dont use builds for your characters and a bad experience when you do .

Without the builds , the characters are almost useless to play . Fighters and Barbarians are just metal-stick wielding weaklings that are only viable when they can cast spells or are depended on Spell-casters .
Martial classes are underdeveloped beyond believe .

With the builds , those Characters are already OP and can steam-roll everything into victory which makes the sessions extremly boring and kills any danger whatsoever . Adventures turn into Rollercoaster of the mild kind and avoids other mechanics of the rules-set that were the main-focus to go adventuring .

5e is my bane of my existence as a DM and a Player .

They changed some classes and rules in BG3 but man ... it was not enough .

But still , it brought life into the Crpg genre and the game had success . So i dont wanna spoil the fun for others . But in my eyes this was not good . And 5e should be casted in the flames of the nine hells .

Sorry for the rant and the off-topic moment but D&D 5e is something i actually avoid like the plague . Thats why i stick to the OSR and other P&P-rpgs .

A vast majority of videogame "Top 10" lists on the internet need to be thrown out into the garbage bin. They are usually created by people who have never even beat the games they say are "Top 10"; whether its a list about the best SNES, PS2 or Best games of all time. If you actually go and play what people consider to be the "best" games and actually try to beat them you will realize a lot of them don't hold up or seriously fall off in the second half of the game. A lot of lists are just created with whats culturally acceptable in mind and whatever they saw had the highest journalist ratings when it came out.

boring lists made just for clicks, can't take them seriously.

Well, heh heh, it's not like the Wii U tablet was widely embraced by the gaming community.

True. When it comes to controllers, innovation for its own sake isn't a useful paradigm. There is a reason why even Nintendo has bowed out of their own silly gimmicks for the most part.

Mobile gaming is STILL GAMING

PVP games on phone are still PVP games even if they are on Phone
Paid ports of PC games are still the game, just kinda chopped to fit in a phone, BUT STILL IN A PHONE
That casual game your mom plays after doing the dishes or you see bussinessmen playing on subways or buses? GUESS WHAT THEY ARE STILL GAMING

Gaming is not a buzzword for something only certain Plastiquitos does, is an activity, and those that still doesn't accept that mobile gaming is real are the real squares, by that logic the games that ran on Dumbphones were... i don't know, cooking manuals

I love BG3, but even I must admit the grand scale combats got really boring. Principally in Act 3.

True, there are a lot of good ports of pc and console games to mobile. I'm playing Strange Horticulture on my phone and it's pretty good.
