I'll even go further by saying: "it's just a stupid video game, I don't need to feel bad for non-existent people I've killed in it". the "no Russian" mission from Modern Warfare 2 was for shock value yet it's obvious that it's still a video game, not a documentary about terrorism groups killing civilians. Call of Duty is always about "shoot the enemy".Spec Ops: The Line is hypocrital in its message, and the creators solution of a "Good ending" by turning off the console would hold if it werent by the fact the game is paid, it's deconstrutcive narrative is just
If someone comes in and say that "acktyually the demons in Doom are the victims in the story because it was Hayden and the UAC who purposefully invaded Hell to suck the Argent Energy out of it while they weren't consenting to." I'd just say "What? Demons are no victims. You just have to kill them, that's all".
Even Undertale is also this to a lesser extent when most RPGs are clearly stating that the monsters you're fighting in them are enemies that want harm to humans.
It goes back to the tired trope of "humans are the real monsters in this story".
