Halo went from one of the most beloved gaming IP's to pretty irrelevant thanks to 343's treatment of it. I don't understand how you get to repeatedly screw up a company's most recognizable IP, pre-Bethesda and Activision buyouts, and still get to work on it. Halo was the face of Xbox. If it hadn't been for Halo, the OG Xbox would've likely been a complete failure.

This remake will be another disappointment. Halo Studios (343) and Virtuous (the dev that still hasn't fixed Oblivion Remastered) aren't going to outdo the original.

Visually I think I like this is better than anniversary edition (not saying much) but the inclusion of sprint will fundamentally change the game they will have to rework everything to account for it. I think faster Halo can work I thought infinites multiplayer was really fun but I don't think this is going to win back the hardcore fans that have been starving for classic Halo gameplay for the last 10 years now

The only thing that's "contemptible" is what Microsoft has done, and continues to do, to their (formerly) golden goose.

Plus, you're just wrong. There happens to be an irrefutable, shining example of were "mass dog piling" by supposedly "hateful" fans turned out to be extremely constructive:

I wouldn't call that the same thing. The criticism of that film trailer was calling out distinctly absurd artistic choices. It's leagues apart from the kind of vague or subjective visual complaints this Halo remake is receiving.

While I'll concede lacking multiplayer is disappointing, it's not part of the development project.
See I'm the sort of person who strongly believes in truthful marketing. Like I've said before, I expect what was advertised first and foremost.

ODST's better than Reach. While I still like Reach, I consider it Bungie's weakest Halo game. The story and characters are pretty bland and boring. There's some solid levels, though. ODST was different for a Halo game since it introduced an open world hub before Infinite and, IMO, did it better. That game oozes amosphere with an incredible soundtrack.

Same here. Honestly, I’m a bit ashamed to admit I’ve only played the first one. I even bought the Master Chief Collection on Steam to finally play them all — only to end up playing Combat Evolved Anniversary and calling it a day. I really should go back and play the rest.

Personally, I got burned-out during the Halo 2-era around 10 years ago. Mostly due to it being the only thing several of my friends ever wanted to play. Combine that with me not having an Xbox of my own at the time to practice on, and my friends being sweaty try-hards at the game.
It became hard to have any fun at all.
But I might try to hack a worn-out 360 for the sake of returning to the original trilogy at some point in the future..

I remember being pretty bored last time I played Halo 1 MCC (like 2021 maybe?) because there were so many like mirrored corridors of similar enemy packs towards the latter half of the game and it turned into kind of an exercise in frustration.
That snow level was kind of unbearable. Wonder if the UE5 version will touch that up in some capacity.
