GTA 6 Should Be $80 And Other Companies Should Raise Prices, Too, Bank Of America Says

Since when has the Bank of America been interested in Rockstar?Strange.

western triple A gaming is on its way out, has been on its way out for quite some time now

they chose to simultaneously reduce the quality and increase the price at the exact moment where the competition is catching up fast, supply and demand, the market won't lie

the new kings of the gaming industry will be, on one side, unemployed basement NEETs who have an idea and are able to make whole unique & fun games all by themselves and release them for like five bucks, on the other side, Chinese/Singaporean companies building gacha games of triple A quality playable FOR FREE on every major platform including Android if you have beefy enough hardware, I have been playing NTE on my Ayn Thor for the past few days, I can confidently say that China not only saved gaming, they even managed to single-handedly bring handheld gaming back to life
How does NTE run on the Thor? It looks super good on PS5, I'm impressed the Thor can handle it.

If GTA VI comes out and is underwhelming, what myth will people cling to next? I think the game is more famous now than it will be when it releases. A thing that doesn't exist can be imagined as perfect, since it's just a concept. Corporate fuckery has increased significantly since GTA V, who knows what nonsense Take Two will force Rockstar to add to the game?

Even if it's amazing, I don't think it will herald an increase in prices across the board. Even Nintendo hasn't tried an 80 dollar game since Mario Kart World. Xbox quickly gave up trying it with Outer Worlds 2. I think it will be case by case, and probably in 4 or 5 years AAA games will be 80 dollars as a standard.

I agree, but I think it also depends on WHAT you are getting for your $80 — Duke Nukem Forever used to be $100, but it came with a ton of goodies.

If they don't give you a lot, then yeah... No thanks.
You're right, but prices back then were higher due to less games overall. Today gamers have much more games to choose from. That creators competiotion make games cheaper and there is no reason to make games pricer except from humanity greed.

The console wars ended long ago and there isnt any reason to go for cheaper when keeping in mind how much it cost to do anything now days. If you cant pass the general cost, then is not worth it

There will be a moment when game companies will realize that those super-duper-ultra-delicious-10K-HD uncompressed graphics that let you see the hair on the nose of the characters models wont be worth the price if it means killing the console with no sales in the future

Or worse, we will get a rain full of AI created bs. Music, pictures, models, everything ::sadkirby

I dont care what a bunch of [edited by a lawyer] says!

ofc they will say 80 bucks is ok, thats what they always want: more money

They where just to shy to say that games should be a constant service of 500 bucks each hour for maximum profit.

it's actually very stable, the game never crashed and always felt responsive, I think I can even minimize the app and come back and it doesn't cause any problem at all

the graphics probably aren't as good as on ps5, they kind of remind me a little about fortnite performance mode/mobile/nintendo switch (which make sense since its a unreal 5 game), still looks good especially the cinematics, and the 3D effect on buildings windows will never cease to impress me (i remember it was a huge selling point of UE5 back then, never seen an actual game use that feature until now)

it feels really good on the Ayn Thor since it's a game that is well optimized for gamepad and I can seemlessly switch to the touchscreen when it is more convenient

Was that the version the came with the Duke bust? I got that for the 360 from Decluttr for $15.

You had me until gacha. I don't like $70 AAA slop, but gacha publishers barely qualify as human beings.

Makes sense, i totally want to give money to the worst employee exploiter on the industry for a game that keeps getting delays

Um, what? Lol FUCK Bank of America. Seriously. It's the bank I use and they're just as shit as all the other banks out there. Also, why the HELL is a bank talking about freaking video games? Like do we care about what you have to say, hell no! This ragebait isn't gonna get anyone to use that bank tbh. My parents had to literally call the bank multiple times a few years ago because they were charging me monthly to have an account when I first made one even though young adults are supposed to be exempt from that.

Personally don't care about GTA at all after V but this is beyond dumb. Pay a expensive amount for a very controversial game that most people don't actually care that much about besides the hype (and yes it is hype, can't see anyone actually saying 6 would be better than 5). I should switch banks once they start charging me monthly again tbh.

I want companies to do it and then crash and burn like it's the 80s. And, in panic, cave in to what players want and have been asking for.

The single player is one thing and that's only half the experience, we still know nothing about online mode.
With how popular and profitable the online in GTA 5 is for Rockstar, I'd say it's more than likely that the singleplayer mode of GTA 6 will be skimped more for the multiplayer. Probably no singleplayer DLC.

Well I mean sure, they could do that. So I guess it's a good thing I was not buying it regardless. The consoles are grossly overpriced, and I'm not buying one for one game. In several years, on a Steam sale for like $14.99? Maybe. If they made a decent beefy SP campaign.

There is data that shows the average PC Gamer pays $20 per game.
There is also data showing that outside of sports games, console game sales are decreasing.

The industry was pressuring GTA6 to release at $100 a year ago, now they're urging $80.
GTA6 Will sell, but it's not going to set a new standardised price point. Far from it, people will buy GTA6 and play it rather than investing in other titles.
The great industry crash/reset is inevitable.
Bro is been like 3 years since i have heard of this supposed Crash. At this point its been speculated and anticipated as much as GTA6.

Is the gaming Crash in the room with us right now? Will the real gaming Crash please stand up?

PlayStation 5's console sales have slumped hard at around 40% less since the last price hike. Less than 40% of players are buying new games. Imagine if game prices rise up to $80. PlayStation is apparently despairing for GTA 6, pitching it to investors as a profits boon. Some analysts are hoping GTA 6 will make it trendy to price AAA games at $80. Imagine if GTA 6 fails to meet expectations... Imagine if it suceeds! And now online age verification is entering the conversation as well. The picture is overall grim for the gaming industry as it stands, no matter how you slice it.
