Good games with fan service, vs other games with fan service

If this is about retro gaming, I think Black Rock Shooter on PSP was pretty neat.

The protagonist is a Miku look-a-like, just more goth and less dressed, The gameplay was pretty cool though, it was a JRPG with ATB, shooting and a neat dodge mechanic.
The story was a bit of anime clichè but it was serviceable.

You can complain about Compile Heart's budget look and obscene number of fanservices in their games, but you can't deny that beneath all those craps they legitimately make good game mechanics that are quite fun to play (though usually they become boring after awhile).

I'm not sure, I've played neptunia four goddess online and senran kagura x neptunia and I was so bored that I fell asleep.

I'll die on the hill that the Dead or Alive games are legitimately good fighting games.
Simplicity at it's finest. I always have a wonderful time playing 2,3 & 4.
FGC is such a cancer, we don't have many cool fighting games anymore thanks to those loosers.

I never played the SK x Nep game, but 4GO disappointed me with how long it takes just to get to the damn title screen (I had the PS4 version), the two new characters were obnoxious (Black Cat Princess) and bland (Kiria) respectively, and after it crashed on me a couple times, I didn't want anything to do with it anymore, so I got rid of it.

Damn I forgot about dead or alive. Totally agree with you. ::fire
They are, but I'm going to agree to those that say that the Xtreme Series is boring. They always left the gameplay to be very bare bones

I like the fan service costumes in the Resident Evil games. They're off to the side and have to be unlocked by beating the game or completing challenges. They do not interfere with a first time playthrough and are not TOO fan servicey.

I would say a bad example is any overly horny fan edit or mod. I'm looking at you 90% of Bethesda games modlists

Completely agreed, I think it's the best 3D fighting game (sorry, Pokken). Unfortunately, most of the FG audience is casual and doesn't have much interest in scaling the 90 degree brick wall that is being able to get good (and is not actually getting good), so it was doomed to failure once it started trying to get itself taken seriously. It built its legacy off being the trashy fighter, and it unfortunately died that way.

I didn't mind that Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission made their endings pretty fan servicey because they made you work to unlock them though I don't really like the direction they went with Samus's character and I find it's gotten a bit excessive.

I’ve yet to hear anyone disagree, very important pioneer of 3D fighters where you can literally toss your opponent through windows and shit

It's not the main appeal, but I think NMH is a good example. The girls have definitely some intention to looks attractive and their are camera angles that show stuff off.

At the same time, they are still really kickass and they don't magically get spared from death like some series do. The first girl even purposely "exits the fight" and from then on Travis never seems to go easy(minus Kimmy but that's because she's a fan girl and student)

Upon closer inspection, this is most certainly a question.

Yeah, I never knew why it takes too long to get to the damn title screen, but I have to say it never crashed to me, I just let the game cause I got bored.

Not sure if it counts, cause it's gacha, but goddess of victory Nikke has an interesting lore and story, despite it's excesive fan service. Also gamplay could be quite entertaining despite being simple.

It being a step down from their previous game was disappointing, and WAY more pricy

i stand by my opinion dead or alive xtreme beach volleyball on the original xbox was a good game
filled with fanservice, but booting up the game to the ambience of an island beach, coupled with the then stunning graphics and christina aguilera of all things playing
going to the casino, gambling all my money away, restarting my game, what a good time

i've been messing around with this recently and the volleyball matches are actually pretty fun. i've had single rounds go on for what seems like 5 minutes. it can get really intense. i enjoy it more than Mario Tennis, at least.

I'm also of the opinion that P.N.03 was not nearly as bad as it was made out to be. The game could use a lot more variety in its enemies and level design (it's mostly all grey hallways and the same handful of robots) but it was a good time outside of its booty shaking.

Dead or Alive 2 was ahead of its time. I always felt like Tekken 4 was trying to be DOA2 really badly with all the interactive environments they added. Dead or Alive set the trends and sadly, gets little-to-no credit.
