Good game, bad port

Heard FF6 had problems with load times on PS1 since its the only version I played of FF6 I can say yes that's a problem is it a deal breaker? No not really the game plays smoothly and 1-2 seconds of waiting won't hurt although FF7 and FF5 , 4 , 2 and 1 and 8 all work pretty smoothly load times are nonexistent but the PS1 version got those cool cutscnes which I think make the game reach 100 MBs I went through it and it was fine.

Ain't no way I emulate that archaic SNES thing even if it means having loading times.

Mega Man & Bass on GBA.
I remember being so excited as a kid to have a proper 16bit Megaman game on the go, only to barely get anywhere in it due to the screen crunch. The Super Famicom version was one of my motivating factors for first getting into emulation.

Bayonetta is one of my favorite games, I played on PS3 multiple times only for years later to find out that that port was considered the worst one...
The loading times are longer but that doesn't bother me, I like practicing combos in the loading screen and the lack of that in other ports is a bit of a shame. However the button imput, bruh. Years later I tried playing it on a friend's XBox and I couldn't believe how much faster and smoother it felt, I realized that all this time I didn't need to git gud, I was playing with a slight imput delay handicap

I had finished the game multiple times already in PS3 and in the harder difficulties too, and then I tried that XBox and it felt like this fr

it's only me or Psychonauts ran at seconds per frame at times and sometimes crashed in the PS2 Version? I grew with that one, so please tell me i didn't got the short stick

This is a joke answer but people would say Final Fantasy VII Remake is bad because its not turn based but hey what do they know? I would say Hyrule Warriors Legends on the OLD 3DS but seeing how much I wanted to played the game I tolerated the slow framerate and did most of the stuff before getting a New 3DS.

Only half a joke to me. I wouldn't say it's bad solely for lacking turn based, but I don't like that it isn't there.

I felt like it was appropriate to go action rpg because of something like Crisis Core & Kingdom Hearts.

a rare example of 3DO performing better than it's competitors PSX and especially SAT.

About every port of GTA San Andreas. Rockstar has released no less than four crummy Windows versions (retail, Steam, Microsoft Store, Definitive Trilogy), all of which are plagued by glitches making them in some way or another inferior to the PS2 blockbuster hit.

It's nowhere near as terrible as most of the ports mentioned, but Darkwood for the Switch is not the best way to experience the game. The load times are nuts and the game has frame rate and stuttering issues. Look, if Scatman John could stop stuttering by singing, the Switch has no excuse. >:C But really, it's just a badly optimized port. Thankfully, it was released for the Stadia too, so there's only one true way to play it.

Pit Fighter for SNES is really top tier when it comes to bad ports it’s almost near impossible to finish unlike the SEGA MD/Genesis port which is almost 1:1.
Yeah, Pit Fighter MD is the enjoyable kind of jank, if you ask me. It's also pretty accurate considering the usual cutbacks that needed to be done to arcade ports.

The SNES one... is a textbook example on how to not port something.

SMT Nocturne is a fantastic RPG, and i just so happened to experience it for the first time in the absolute worst way possible. i played the HD remaster on switch, which runs worse than the original PS2 version in some cases, and i had run into several game crashes along the way. this is more of a personal take, but i also dont like some of the dialog changes (specifically with the junk shop manikin, he always felt really strange and out of place, and after seeing what he was like in the ps2 version i found out why) they also had the opportunity to remaster the music so it wasn't bitcrushed to hell, but they didn't... though i think there was a more valid reason for that, im not sure.

PS1 KOF 96 has to be the king of the bad ports. The load times are horrendous, even by PS1 standards.

Mega Man & Bass on GBA.
Honestly... I really like the GBA port of MegaMan & Bass.
The music is really nice and there is enough information on screen to work through the game with little trouble... but that's me being biased as MM&B is my personal favorite classic entry

The port is objectively really god damn bad compared to SNES in terms of how much information is on screen (and thats not even going into how it handles text...)

Saints Row 2. The PC port is infamous. I hope the source code leaks someday, there's no hope for that game now that Volition is gone.

the pc version of Deadly Premonition is a travesty. I unironically love that game so much and it's sad to see that the most accessible version is so unplayable. Constant bugs, performance problems, game breaking crashes. There is a fan patch but you shouldn't have a game so unplayable on the Steam store
