Trying to 1CC Gradius 2 (I couldn't do it. I could ALMOST. Starting from the top started getting too rough on my sanity lol)

I have that "haptic feedback" stuff turned off on my PS5 controller because I hate it. It makes me feel like my controller is broken. What I didn't realise, is that makes some minigames in FF VII Rebirth practically impossible to finish! I guess because they were designed around that feature?

I really liked Rebirth, but it could be a pain in the ass! It also let you start some side quests that you couldn't finish until MUCH later in the main story.

You could be doing absolutely everything right in a SRPG, and one enemy crit can ruin everything. I feel that one!
Yeah some of the minigames are impossible without it like the annoying flying minigame that heavily relies on it or the Tifa squat minigame that requires a lot of effort to beat and the amount of times that haptic feedback has made it waaaaaaaaay harder than it should be. I don't mind it normally but with how much minigames there are to do if you are aiming for 100% completion, it's only gonna make it much more of a pain than needed. I personally don't hate Rebirth though, I do have good things to say but the minigames and side quests do be insane at times and especially the Treasure Trove insanity.

Also as someone who plays more FE than anyone should, the amount of enemy crits that have ruined is always a big no as I try to do the perfect run and save everyone possible in-game lol.

I pretty much agree with everything you said about Rebirth!
I also play quite a bit of FE, although I'm not above save-scumming and starting again to save everyone! ::eggmanlaugh I've played like 300 hours of Three Houses

The Aizawa "twist" in Yakuza 5.

There must've been like six instances where I have vented in a whole paragraph about how it's the most piss poor attempt at a twist I've seen in any medium. I already thought the rest of the game was really dull for a Yakuza game, minus Shinada and like one or two other small parts, probably still would've ranked it one of the lowest, but this shit made me actively spite the game. I spend what actively felt like 120 hours doing all the side shit and the TWENTY chapter story, and you end it with this? Fuck you.

Only good thing to come out of this is that it is nearly impossible that RGG could ever hit another low to this level, in terms of their writing.

Playing Dark Souls 2 way too young to appreciate led to a broken controller and a lot of new chores for me from my parents. That and every God Of War platforming while being shot by stunlocking bullshit segment. I don't know how i beat the GoW's without snapping my PS2 over my knee.

that's my friend exactly while he was playing gow2. Had never seen him that angry at a video game

Anytime Batman: Arkham Knight forced me to engage with the Batmobile in any way shape or form.

Also, the 5 billion pointless DLC additions Arkham Knight had
How people say Knight is the best while Origins is the worst will forever baffle me. Like I understand people loving City, that game's great, but Knight is just one of the most underbaked barebones video games I've ever played, the entire thing feels like it's perpetually stuck in first-act mode.

The only thing I loved about Arkham Knight was the ability to do stealth and combat sections with two characters and that one DLC that let us play as Batgirl. It's the worst Arkham game and even Gotham Knights is a better game.

I can agree that Knight's story is pretty weak. I still really enjoy it from a gameplay standpoint though. I also seem to be one of the few people that really likes the Batmobile, but I can understand the criticism. City will always be my favourite, although it's been too long since I've played Asylum & Origins.

Gotham Knights was pretty underrated, considering how many people seem to hate it. I still really want to try out Gotham Knights in co-op though. Planning out and executing an Arkham-style stealth section with another person through voice chat sounds like so much fun!

Yeah, Gotham Knights really is underappreciated. We got to play as other characters besides Batman for the whole game, and they each had elements that made them different. We also FINALLY got a populated Gotham City. I like how the game actually put a focus on controlling crime in the city which was always just a background thing in the Arkham games. You go out at night in Gotham Knights and actually patrol like any good Batman character is SUPPOSED to do. Also, I found the vehicles had far better handling than the Batmobile in Arkham City.

It still disappoints me a bit that Gotham Knights wasn't set in the Arkham-verse. Change some of the story around, and it could've easily worked as a follow-up to Arkham Knight. Plus, everybody was fun to play as! I definitely remember spending the first 5-10 hours just ignoring the story and stopping crimes. Granted, those crimes would repeat after a while. I do remember the bike being pretty good.

I agree

I think WB Games Montréal get an unwarranted amount of hate for the Batman games they worked on. They are flawed, but have a lot of positive qualities as well and they always manage to bring in things that Rocksteady didn't think of doing.

I'm highly disappointed when marketing transpires within or with a game. I will refrain from examples, however I will say this: as a player, I expect some effort to keep a game as an enjoyable experience, not as a tool to extort money from a player.

i haven't heard anything about the ai in the gamecube games, but in the main handheld games, the ai is pretty much completely random; with only a line of code being added in depending on whether it is a wild pkmn, a trainer or gym leader/elite four member. and there are some restrictions on those AIs as well.
some games do let the computer cheat like in yugioh forbidden memories. you get 5 cards, the ai gets 20, it can search for any card to defeat your strongest monster, and it can have 3 of any card, regardless of whatever it is. not very fun to fight kaiba who has 3 blue eyes ultimate dragons.
I feel you there because I played Forbidden Memories too with a PlayStation console. It was brutal but I don't remember if I ever beat the game. But yeah, I played Pokemon on GameCube and Snorlax just kept slamming me down with repetitive techniques.

i've never beaten the game, i got to the third to last boss a few times, i beat him once, but the next guy was too hard.
i looked up some info on snorlax in pokemon xd.
they gave snorlax the strongest shadow move; shadow end. 60 percent accurate with 120 power and infinite power points. the move is endless. all shadow moves are like this, apparently. and from checking out what moves it knows, shadow end and body slam were the only moves it knows that deal damage. the other 2 moves get rid of buffs on your pokemon.
and, in case you were wondering; yes, it could have been worse. shadow end gets replaced with fissure, which is a instant kill move with 30 % accuracy that can increase the higher level you are in comparison to your opponent. so, the snorlax could have destroyed you in probably 3 rounds; but it decided to go easy on you.

yeah me too, also lets not forget that in forbidden memories not only do they cheat like that with 20 cards on that last strech
BUT you also have to win a guantlet of 6 (or 5 was it?) duels IN A ROW to beat the game.
the last 4 ones having all horrible cards to fight against.

it's 6 duels, back to back with no saving in-between.
ironically, the last few enemies are all technically at joey's skill level at the start of the cartoon. they have far more monster cards than spell or trap cards. the final boss had 40 monster cards in total. no trap, spell or field magic cards.

I never got THAT far in Forbidden Memories. Maybe I should pick it up again sometime and power through

i'd recommend one of the mods that tweaks the drop rate. if you want to go with the vanilla version only, fight the meadow mage. for insane, unknowable reasons, he drops the best swag in the game.

I meant dusting off my PS1 copy, but that's probably a better idea in the long-term! ::eggmanlaugh
