Games you regret spending money on

I've got 2 for me. Daemon X Machina collectors edition. Not that it was a terrible game or anything, but I genuinely to this day have no idea why I bought the collectors edition. The box was so needlessly big, it's just taking up space right now.
The second example is something I actually feel genuine shame for even to this day. About 10 years ago, I regret to admit... I did put money into League of Legends 😔 . Was only one time, but the shame still remains... It's even worse because not even 2 months after that I stopped playing lol.

Both the Persona 3 Portable remaster and SMT3 remaster were disappointing to me, unfortunately.

After numerous attempts in trying to play the Persona series, I realized that the series is just not for me. That said, the remaster of Portable felt like it was an inferior release when compared to the PSP original, with worse audio and lazily applied upscaling.

SMT3 is a game that I rather enjoy on PS2, as I have found its atmosphere and gameplay to be well-done and engaging. The remaster on modern systems felt less stable when compared to the original. To deal with the cutscenes still being in 4:3, compressed audio, and performance issues all the while being charged around the same price as a modern AAA title was very disappointing for me.

The game has been patched as far as I'm aware, and is probably more worthwhile when on a deep sale simply because at the end of the day SMT3 is a great game, however I still regret buying the game before a significant discount.

In the case of both of these releases, it still appears that their original incarnations are the preferred way to play (without taking into account the whole "best P3 version" debacle, of course).

I don't really still regret this bc it was so long about, but it would be buying Dragon Age 2 from gamestop.

Not even saying anything about the game beyond the fact that it wasn't for me. It was more that I paid full price for a game after having done zero research and then played it exactly once. I felt... dumb!

Infinite Dunamis

Infinite Dunamis: an rpgmaker rpg made by kemco, which the name alone should tell you enough, but if you don't know, they are a company that turns out crappy, tropey in a bad way, grindy, derivative rpg maker rpgs. And also really bad licensed games before that.

I made the mistake of buying and playing thru this slog as a teenager and it was super boring front to back, It did have one redeeming quality in that weapons got stronger the more you used them and also had an attack tied to them that you could use at any time once you mastered the weapon.

Mario Sports Superstars: I thought it was gonna be just like Mario Sports Mix, turns out I was very wrong.

Mario Party: The top 100: i thought it was going to be good but I was proven wrong.

Mario and Sonic 2008: the game was so boring.

Red Steel: it was only $7 at a local retro used game store. I soon found out why it was $7 in the first place.

Mario Kart 7: I was expecting it to be a step up from previous games, only for it to be a dreadfully bland and boring experience.

Nicktoons: Globs of Doom: I remember as a kid, begging my mom for this game, i was excited to see my favorite cartoons crossing over with each other, the commercials made the game look like this exciting adventure game. When I finally got this game, was was extremely disappointed because all it pretty much was, was a very generic and monotonous beat em up.

Easy one for me, even if it is low hanging fruit: anything on the 32X (I had 3 games for it or so).

Dragon's Dogma 2. Bought it for $55 on release day but the performance was so bad that I never managed to finish it. It got even worse on the city and there was a bug that whenever I went to upgrade my skills the game would crash. Infuriating thing is that Crapcom still haven't fixed the game properly.

Yakuza Gaiden. Bought it for $40 on discount but I still feel ripped-off. The story is barely 6 hours worth but they padded it so much with unnecessary stuffs. Worst part is locking main story progression behind side contents. It clearly was meant to be a DLC but greed got to them and they made it a standalone. It's the only Yakuza game that I disliked and I hope it stays like that.

the first fable game on original xbox
it was a short game and non of the extra content was included

did have to buy fable the lost chapter it have all the extra content so i could enjoye the full game

Thank you for this thread, I can now vent for spending money on
Kingdom Hearts Union x [Cross] (KHUX)
or Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ / Union χ and Kingdom Hearts Dark Road. It got renamed multiple times!

This piece of shit Gatcha, I have a Bone to grind with it Square Enix & Disney for exploiting the KH3 Hype ::badpc

  1. HORRIBLE Story (Nomura's writing is becoming worse and worse)
  2. Nomura's writing is bad and I'm tired of pretending it's not! BBS + DDD + KH3 sealed the deal
  3. Horrible Pay to win tactics
  4. Exploiting KH fans for the KH3 hype!
  5. Predatory
  6. Horrible POWERCREEP, every week there was a new powercreed medal that would stop being relevant the next week! I'm not exaggerated btw
  7. SLOT MACHINE Mechanic for Medal's Traits!
  8. Whales became stronger, F2P became weaker and weaker
  9. Horrible PVP, yes they introduced PVP and it was terrible, they even made it mandatory for the daily rewards! The whales were dominating it!
  10. To win special event challenges for rewards you needed the current overpowered medals which gave you Bonus score!
  11. Square Enix of North America (SENA) would turn FREE GIFTS given to players in Japan into PAYED items for players worldwide
  12. They made an Event where everyone who got top scored would be featured in KH3's Keyblade Graveyard
  13. They introduced late mindway a character (Marluxia's sister) who gets assassinated in literally 5-8 missions in!
    1. they do their best to emotionally manipulate you to feel bad for her!
      • DAWWW LOOK! She was following you and coming across the path this whole time! Trust us, this is totally not a shoehorn retcon we write as we go! Isn't this sad? don't you want to cry and avenger her death?

I must have spend around 150 Euros and years later I still regret it... I still miss those money! I STILL REGRETTING THAT MONEY!

I quited on 2017-18? The final straw was when a Banner got banned and after the 5 Pity-Pulls it gave me the WRONG MEDAL!
I didn't even bothered sending a bug report to the DEVs so they could fix it for me and give me the right Medal, It was the last straw and I unistalled the game!

it was shut down on 2021 and I didn't shred a single tear!
This and KH3 made me fall out of love with the series

  • Moral of the story: don't waste money of Gatcha games ::sadkirby

Mouthwashing. It was short and didn't do anything that the psx horror scene on ichi.io hasn't already done better for free/less. I don't mind a short game; in fact oftentimes I prefer it, and indie devs need money, but 2 hours of wandering around an admittedly cool environment while the most cliche space horror story plays out is just not worth it.

For me it's the Spider-Man: Web of Shadows: Allies Edition for PS2 and it cost $50 and even so the game was very disappointing because it was a completely different game from the previous games of the Spider-Man saga on this same console, The game was monotonous, boring and with more of the same gameplay (but it's not unplayable that you do and also become Black Spider-Man who is more powerful than Normal Spider-Man and it serves to break walls as if it had superhuman strength), and you can use Allies to get them off enemies or as extra health buffs or attack or defense and that's not bad and It has an unnecessary decision-making system that only serves to increase reputation points and also to be able to buy special upgrades but hey, the graphics were below PS2 standards for a 2008 game and with 2D aesthetics with 3D modeling doesn't fit very well for a Spider-Man game And also that the game suffers from an inconsistent framerate at the Stage 6 of the Factory that drops to 10~12fps which makes it almost unplayable with that low framerate And that's unacceptable for a 2D platformer knowing that a platformer is required to run at 25/30 or 50/60fps to make it playable and the Music is Super-Boring and doesn't do its job properly and the sound effects are average And on top of that the game is linear because it has 10 levels and they are all boring and lacking in emotion and the bosses are easy as long as you find a pattern and beat them and on top of that it was a very weak port of the PSP version that that version itself was just as disappointing as the PS2 version. It was an unnecessary expense for that game knowing that it is the last spider-man game on ps2 and you have to take into account that the last game of a saga on each platform is not always going to be the best.
