Definitely much better than Red ninja. Looking forward to try Fatal Shadow next.

This year I finished Rule of Rose twice

Once as my genuine first playthrough and secondly while writing a weapons and combat guide for GameFAQ

I also defeated Devotion again by Red Candle Games, which I beat for the fitsr time about 3 years ago

Also, this year I finished Grandia 2 and Chrono Trigger again

I last beat Chrono Trigger back in 2022 and Grandia 2 I last finished back in like, 2007-ish?

Resident Evil 2's Remake and Resident Evil 7, as well

It was my first time beating both although I only beat Leon's campaign and I haven't finished the mandatory Chris DLC for RE7, so did I really beat them? lol

I also finally beat the 400 Days DLC for Walking Dead Season 1, which I was completely stuck on, but I beat the main storyline back in like 2018

Last year I remember beating Dark Cloud 1 and Shin Megami Tensei 3 Remastered, both for the first time ever, although I still have to finish the post-game content for Dark Cloud, the Demon Shaft level

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (Remake, 2024)

Honestly a wonderful remake of a certified classic RPG. The quality of life features really improve any problems that the original had with backtracking.

Highly recommended.

What I've played felt really great, especially for the impressive soundtrack. Too bad the Switch 2 still hasn't an exclusive update to unlock the 60fps (...yet).

Played "Distant Space" on Steam. Seemed like a student project rather than anything else.
60 games in 2025 (and probably will be up to 65 maximum, I doubt I will finish that many others).

technical issues aside, this is a pretty good game so far. could be a bit harder but whatever, i'll just try hard mode when i start the hanzou campaign. i also didn't expect it to get my eyes wet at the end. my favorite girls so far are ryouna and minori. but i also enjoy shiki and everyone from hebijo.

1. Metal Gear Solid 3
2. Yume Nikki
3. Yakuza 4
4. Silent Hill
5. Yakuza 5
6. God of War (2018)

omw to beat Yakuza 6 and Silent Hill again for the good ending

Knowing that 2025 would be the 20th anniversary of the launch of the Xbox 360, I decided to do a 2005 in Gaming anniversary. There are various concessions though, e.g., if a remaster or faithful remake has been released, I could play those in lieu of the original.

So far, I've tried many games, but have only completed a handful.

Resident Evil 4 (HD, on Series X) - overall, it's playable, but, unlike a lot of people, I don't think it has aged well. Even though I don't mind the original tank controls for the pre-4 Resident Evil games, the controls in 4 are the main reason that I think that it's aged poorly.

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap (Switch) - Good game. Not the best 2D Zelda, but it was nice to go back to the classic style. Also well-paced and doesn't overstay its welcome.

Mario Kart DS (New 3DS) - It's Mario Kart. Certainly not the best, but also not the worst. I remember fondly going to McDonald's to use the free Wi-Fi, that they partnered with Nintendo to implement, to play this online with a friend, since I didn't have wireless Internet at the time.

God of War (HD, on PS3) - Easily one of the best 2005 games I've (re)played so far. Still has a story that feels like an actual Greek tragedy, and the gameplay is still pretty good. I think the level design and ludonarrative cohesion are significantly better than the two most recent God of War games.

Gun (360) - Interesting game to play for the first time. I can see how the story might have seemed more well-written and presented than a lot of its contemporaries, but overall it hasn't aged well. Red Dead Redemption basically made this have obsolete. The world feels so empty and small in comparison.

Call of Duty 2 (Series X) - The other contender for my 2005 Game of the Year so far. Having never played any Call of Duty games other than 4, the campaign in 2 felt very intense for a launch 360 game. There is a constant bombardment of audio/visual goodness to keep you from blinking. I was very impressed with this in every aspect other than pure graphical prowess (the latter of which is expected from a launch game) and plot.

And today I finished Condemned: Criminal Origins on Series X (probably the single worst character models I've seen in a game). Decent enough to play through once, just to know what I missed out on 20 years ago, but not worth playing again, in my opinion.

Remaining for the year, I still have quite a few 2005 games to play or replay;

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (replay, but this time it will be the Dominus Collection, PS5)

Destroy All Humans! (Remake, Series X) - Never played

(Deep breath) Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie - Never played

TimeSplitters: Future Perfect (replay, but this time will be the PS5 version)

Jade Empire (Series X - will be like the 4th time I've tried it, but I've never finished it)

Kameo: Elements of Power (Series X, never played)

Perfect Dark Zero (Series X, never finished)

Amped 3 (360, never played)

Need for Speed: Most Wanted (360, playing on and off; currently working toward taking out #9)

Project Gotham Racing 3 (360, never played)

Done with Saya no Uta. Don't play (read) this VNs, kids.

61 games done in 2025. Planning to beat Legends Z-A, Kirby Air Riders story mode when it'll come out and maybe in these days Castlevania Lament of Innocence for PS2.

I keep track of the games I finish on my backloggery profile. I'm always working on finishing more titles, and this year has been pretty good so far!

A bunch of PC titles, some new some old, and a couple retro games from N64 and Vectrex.

Playing through the Original Prey, Chex Quest games and the OG Oblivion were definitely retro highlights.

Awesome, managed to beat this game at the perfect day :D 🎃

I'm gonna count this since I finished the GameCube version for the first time after all this time. 48 Boos out of 50 caught, but I'm gonna find the two remaining ones and see how much low my rank is still gonna be lol.

It's a great game, a good GameCube classic. But it has some junk:
- C-stick controls feels better than just a right analog, but it's still not as smooth as we remember
- Boo hunting can be very annoying, especially in the basement area

I beat it for the first time with the 3DS version (which I never understood if to call it a port or "remake". It does add some cool stuff but I hated it was on a portable console when the Switch was just there. Also the Gooigi thing in there actually lagged the game like hell from what I've heard).

62 games so far. Wanna round up with 65 beaten this year and be golden with.

Last few months have been a bit busy, so with exception of NWN stuff and Yugioh TF I've mostly finished short games. I've started HoMM4 but I am most likely just finishing it around 2026. maybe even 2027 if we count all the expansion campaigns...!!! Also lots of spooky games but no piglet's big game because hyperrealistic blood keep flowing from the monitor and pooh kept asking for human sacrifices...

49. ...Iru!
50. Shining Flower (can this even be considered a game?)

44. Peter Gabriel's Eve
50. Shining Flower (can this even be considered a game?)
51. Jungle Park
53. Urusei Yatsura: Dear my Friends
56. 9: The Last Resort
Oooh, what are these?

  1. The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (PC) - Great atmosphere and although the dialogue system is a little bit of a pain, it felt good to play through a lengthy playthrough trying to find a good chunk of the content.
  2. Xenus 2. White Gold. (PC) - Good RPG that does way more than what Far Cry does with its formula. Does what a sequel should and builds up and improves everything from the first game.
  3. Boiling Point (Xenus): Road to Hell (PC) - Impressive with what it tried to accomplish at the time of release and does much better than what Far Cry ever tried to.
  4. America's 10 Most Wanted (PS2) - Dumb fun shooter that's short.
  5. The Godfather: Blackhand Edition (Wii) - Liked it a lot when I was a kid and it's good for what it is being a licensed game, but feels somewhat basic once you've gotten over the initial feature discovery.
  6. Grabbed By the Ghoulies (Xbox) - Short and stylish, a pretty good beat-em-up.
  7. Hulk: Ultimate Destruction (Xbox) - Like a precursor to Prototype, an impressive amount of destruction for its time.
  8. The Urbz: Sims in the City (Xbox) - Sims in the city with the Black Eyed Peas, played in co-op and a neat idea although very repetitive with its tasks.
  9. Pac-Man World 2 (PS2) - Decent 3D-platformer.
  10. Pac-Man World (PS) - Decent 2.5D-platformer.
  11. Beavis & Butt-Head Do U (PC) - Decent point-and-click, probably the best Beavis & Butt-Head game, it's like watching an episode of the show.
  12. Archangel (PC) - Interesting Action Adventure that mixes medieval fantasy with modern day and cyberpunk.
  13. Skate 3 (360) - Decent skating game that has good gameplay, but maybe a little too literal with its title in that you skate with little story and once you've completed the allotted challenges, it just kind of ends. I particularly like Tony Hawk's Underground the most as a skating game, but if it could combine the gameplay of Skate 3, it'd but unbeatable.
  14. Dr. Slump (PS) - Okay Adventure game, has great visuals and maybe it's better if you like the source material.
  15. Screaming Mad George's ParanoiaScape (PS) - Great visuals, somewhat wonky gameplay scheme. Creative to say the least.
  16. Cyberpunk 2077 (PC) - Overhyped and lackluster in its cyberpunk aesthetic. Extremely hollow feeling with a world set up like a cardboard box. Uses the formula of Deus Ex: Human Revolution on a wider scale and that's about all it does well, but that game is incomparable to the first Deus Ex which felt much better thought out.
  17. Crusty Demons (Xbox) - Like Tony Hawk Underground 2 if it leaned further into its mature themes. Blood and limb system are neat in some ways.
  18. Aconcagua (PS) - Interesting point-and-click that shows an early idea of what Sony was trying to do with movie games. Also interesting that it's entirely voiced in English while only being released in Japan.
  19. Mass Effect (PC) - Sci-Fi mumbo jumbo that holds no interest in me. The scale of the gameplay elements is better mixed with its dialogue-heavy base, but of course has the most primitive feel.
  20. Syberia (PC) - Liked it when I was a kid, but I wasn't as interested playing it again. Its fantasy elements don't appeal to me as much as Still Life's more realistic setting.
  21. Hard to Be a God (PC) - Russian game with highly detailed environments, but an almost on-rails experience with a story that although lauded by fans, felt somewhat basic to me and not worth the somewhat lengthy playtime involved with its linearity.
  22. Stranglehold (360) - Dumb fun shooter that although does well at translating a John Woo movie into game form, the first level is really the only one that I liked.
  23. Kameo: Elements of Power (360) - Hated the power switching mechanic and felt that it was a step back from Grabbed By the Ghoulies.
  24. The Elder Scrolls III: Bloodmoon (PC) - Felt tacked on, but at least it's closer to the main game's formula.
  25. The Elder Scrolls III: Tribunal (PC) - Also felt tacked on, but the amount of sewer dungeon crawling is so atrocious, I hated this expansion.
  26. Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty (PC) - More linear feeling and somehow has much worse writing.
  27. Mass Effect 2 (PC) - The gameplay feels more fluid, but some features were taken away and movie elements overtake.
  28. Mass Effect 3 (PC) - Has the best feeling gameplay, but what little is left doesn't make up for the Sci-Fi gobbledygook.
  29. Ys Book I (TGCD) - Thought there would be more anime styled cutscenes, but it's pretty similar to the remake. Liked the remake more when I first played it, but I don't like it as much now.
  30. 仙劍/Chinese Paladin/Sword and Fairy (PC) - Turn-Based games aren't really my thing, but I'd like to play the 7th game.
  31. 仙劍二/Chinese Paladin 2/Sword and Fairy 2 (PC) - Goes for a more anime-styled feeling and less morbidity, so it's less of my thing.

From what I liked the most to what I liked the least, as much as I remember how I felt about each of these games, it should be pretty definitive.

Oooh, what are these?
Planescape The Shaper of Dreams is a german Neverwinter Nights 2 module inspired by Torment and a few other games and it's among the highest rated mods, its a huge journey that spreads through many forgotten realms places like Waterdeep, Sigil and the Abyss, but sadly the english translation is fairly unfinished.

Urusei Dear my Friends is sort of a VN/point and click of the famous anime that was translated sort of recently, it's on the repo.

The others are fairly obscure point & click games. Eve and 9 feel like a mix of Myst and interactive media featuring really weird and artsy scenarios. Jungle Park is like a silly walking simulator whose gameplay is just exploring, it's also a predecessor to Cubivore, also on the repo. Shining Flower is barely interactive in which you simply click to play each area animation, but feels like a predecessor to games like Yume Nikki.

Legend of Zelda - Tears of the Kingdom
Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag (PS4)
Resident Evil (PC - GOG)

Not that many so far...

Finished Resident Evil 4.

Honestly was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. I do think you might need to take breaks to avoid burnout. I think Leon is very funny. There was some stupid bullshit and the quick time events were annoying but it was fun.

Highly recommended.

What did you think of Jak II?
It was amazing and such a good experience, however the lack of checkpoints and 3 HP limit made the game such a fucking nightmare in certain sections. I have a whole history of trying to play this when I was a kid but I don't wanna bother you with it lmao
