Games You Finished in 2025

  1. Resident Evil 2 (Dreamcast): Still the best "classic" survival horror ever. 10/10
  2. Resident Evil (Gamecube): The gold standard for remakes, one of the best-looking games ever, though it still can't unseat RE2 in my ranking. 9.5/10
  3. Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition (Switch): Oof, still crazy good and tons of fun, though some of the late-game bosses drive me nuts. 9/10
  4. Vanquish (PC): Super fun shooter than can be knocked out in an afternoon. 9/10
  5. Skies of Arcadia (Dreamcast): A wonderful, classic JRPG that I finally got to experience. 9/10
  6. E.X. Troopers (3DS): The English fan translation's a mess, but who cares! I had so much fun with this MonHun-esque looter-shooter, I just wish I could play it online. 8.5/10
  7. Xanadu Next (PC): Super atmospheric mouse-based ARPG that constantly exceeded my expectations. Badly underrated. 8.5/10
  8. Dino Crisis 2 (PS1): Very fun third-person shooter, I enjoyed it way more than what I played of DC1, I love how there's a chain-kill system and scoring. 8.5/10
  9. Kirby: Planet Robobot (3DS): Goated Kirby game, probably my favorite after Return to Dream Land, just be warned that it doesn't run well on a standard 3DS. 8/10
  10. Ridge Racer Type 4 (PS1): Insanely cool-looking, amazing soundtrack, my only complaint is that the courses and the single-player get repetitive; especially if you want to unlock everything. 8/10
  11. Chibi-Robo! (Gamecube): Very cute and fun, but not quite as good as the DS sequel. 8/10
  12. Brandish: The Dark Revenant (PSP): Super underrated puzzle/dungeon crawler that gets crazy hard. Drives me a bit nuts but is a quality game. 7.5/10
  13. Chousoujuu Mecha MG (DS): A DS mech-pilot game where you control your robot by pressing buttons and moving levers on the touch screen... it's hard to explain, but it has to be experienced, even if it's a bit janky. 7.5/10
  14. Etrian Odyssey HD (Switch): Its difficulty is greatly overstated. It's not perfect, but it's a great introduction to dungeon crawlers if you need one. 7.5/10
  15. Etrian Odyssey II HD (Switch): Better than the first in some ways, worse in others, I prefer the first because it had a cooler late-game twist. 7.5/10
  16. Ys VIII: Lacrymosa of Dana (Switch): Very fun but waaay to long, the story takes forever to get going, and I don't like the raid/crafting stuff that they shoed in there. 7.5/10
  17. Monster Hunter Wilds (PS5): Way better than World, with a fun campaign, but I'm frankly more excited about MH4U coming back online. 7/10
  18. Ruina: Fairytale of the Forgotten Ruins (PC): Interesting indie freeware JRPG with a melancholy atmosphere. Pretty simplistic, though. 7/10
  19. Street Fighter 6 (Switch 2): Finally got around to this. It's way better than V, but I'm not too crazy about it either. 7/10
  20. GigaBash (PS5): Good casual fun with friends! It bums me out that Godzilla is DLC. Also I don't have a PS5 to play it on anymore, so, bummer. 7/10
  21. Rhyme Rider Kerorican (Wonderswan): This is so fun to play on the Wonderswan with a single button. There's very little content, though. 6.5/10
  22. Pokémon Legends Z-A (Switch 2): It was fine, but I'm not sticking around to do online battles with that combat system. 6/10
  23. Speed Power Gunbike (PS1): Very cool-looking combat racer, there was tons of potential here, but the level design is kind of bad. Vibey, though. 6/10
  24. Absolum (PC): Neat game to play with friends online. Not much lasting appeal. 6/10
  25. Peak (PC): Neat game to play with friends online. Not much lasting appeal. 6/10

I dropped Jak II when the game forced you to pilot the worst controlling video vehicle of all time across a maze city with a time limit to advance the main plot.

That game is hell, especially the chasing missions.

Do tell…what are your thoughts on Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze so far? I played the first few mins and was quite impressed, but just haven’t gotten around to playing more of it.
Going in, I had read multiple reviews saying it is a contender for the best platformer ever. My thought was "How good can it be?" I am pleased to say, I love it. It has beautiful design and some truly challenging bosses and levels.

The DKC Returns series has a different rhythm to it from the controls to finding secrets. It took me a long time to get used to. I think the brilliance is revealed once you start doing time trials.

finally finish this game today.
SLUS-21621.jpg

start this game around january on new years holiday. this game is really long and very grindy. I kinda have on and off with this game. haven't touch the answer yet. maybe later.

SD Gundam Gaiden: Knight Gundam Story (1990)

If you have the patience for classic NES JRPGs, I recommend it, just know you will have to do a lot of grinding. It's very short, but fun for what it is. I do recommend it.

i'm glad i finally tied up this loose end (i've played it before but didn't finish it.) the ac games i have yet to beat are master of arena (barely touched it a while ago), another age (i have like 90% mission completion on this one, it really ramps up in difficulty at this point though), the nexus revolution disc, ninebreaker's training mode (lol nope), formula front (i've heard that the game is easier on emulator so i'll have to see if there's a workaround), a couple endings of last raven, the oldking route of for answer, the 5th gen games, and the mobile games.

i'd say that between this and twisted metal 2 (that i played a while back), i've noticed that some ps1 games can be really jerky with the controls, there's also some really questionable balancing choices like the lightweight arms near the beginning of the shop that make the ones directly above and under them completely obsolete, or the machine gun with the most dps simultaneously having the most ammo. that being said, i've come to appreciate this game for bringing it's own vibe that's wholly unique within this series.

anyways, meet my newest ac: bluescreen
Screenshot 2025-11-17 003427.png

swaggy ass turqoise to deep blue to indigo to purple gradient eh? here's what looked like for most late game missions:

Screenshot 2025-11-17 011627.png

what sucks is that due to the color scheme and blocky visage i ended up feeling some gender dysphoria when my ac was next to sumika's

This is what I've finished this year, ranked mostly by enjoyment more than necessarily critically:

1. Final Fantasy X
2. Final Fantasy VII
3. Sonic Mania
4. Dragon Quest IV
5. Phantasy Star IV
6. Earthbound
7. Sonic Adventure
8. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
9. Sonic Rush
10. Sonic 3 & Knuckles
11. Sonic Advance 3
12. Popful Mail
13. Sonic Generations
14. Sonic 2
15. Spider Man 2
16. Final Fantasy I (NES)
17. Sonic Adventure 2
18. Sonic 1
19. Dragon Quest I (GBC)
20. Kingdom Hearts III
21. Spider Man: Miles Morales
22. Sonic Advance 1
23. Sonic Advance 2
24. Sonic Colors Wii
25. Sonic CD
Unranked for now because not far enough: Dragon Quest I + II HD 2D Remake

won't go in depth about the reasonings til the end of the year, but in general i did overdo it on sonic, and i really enjoyed most of the JRPGs I did.

Tales of Destiny: Director's Cut (2008)

A traditional JRPG story that is carried by its fantastic and memorable characters. Honestly has one of the best casts in the franchise. While it took me a bit to get used to the gameplay style and some of the puzzles were frustrating, especially in later dungeons, it was a lot of fun.

I genuinely hope that they can somehow make the Destiny cast show up in like someway in another game. (My bf mentioned they could bring back the Radiant Mythology series to do that... maybe with playable Swordians? 🥺)

Highly recommended.

39. armored core: project phantasma
40. armored core nexus (replay, only evolution disc so far)

when i first played this one years ago, i recall mainly just seeing the negatives (overtuned heat(though that part is very manageable), lightweight acs not being as agile as they used to be, genobee and the final boss being pushovers, the gall to expect me to unlock all the new missions through repeat playthroughs of the same otherwise unchanging campaign, the ecm), but playing it again, i realized how good the vibes are. the sunsets, the cubical menu design, the music that feels like something between 4th gen music and an LG ringtone... i also appreciate the inclusion of the "infinite energy but no energy" generator.

anyways, here's my AC for this go around, i'll probably use it for disc 2 as well:

1. Felvidek
2. Ys 1
3. Castlevania 1

9. Limbus Company: Canto VII
10. Ys 2

16. The Children of Clay
17. Miside
18. ASYLUM
19. Ace Attorney: Investigations

25. Undertale Red
26. Pesterquest
27. VVVVVV

I only included games I finished, and whatever I played of a game if it's still releasing. If I made a list of the games I started playing this year then the list would be like 3 times as long lol.

I've heard good things about AstLibra! My friend has recommended it a lot.

Only games I completed so far this year are Suikoden and Bakuryu's story in Bloody Roar 2. Still have a bunch of retro and modern games to finish. Every time I think about hunkering down and finishing a game, I end up just replaying a comfort game lol.

1. Iconoclash
2. SIlent Hill 2 (The Original)
3. Sly 1
4. Aladdin (SNES and Genesis Verisons)
5. Majora's Mask (Vanilla on Recomp. Going to replay again with mods)
6. Sonic 1 ( Again)
7. The Smurfs (Gameboy Version)

I've just finished Wolfenstein 3D with ECWolf (Episodes 1 to 3, not the Night Missions nor Spear of Destiny).
Thanks to DosBox Pure I've finally tackled the DOS version of Quake (alas, with no music but I think that improves the scary atmosphere). Also I've ended up doing the secret levels for every Episodes (I think I've never done the second before).

That's technically the first DOS game I've finished using DOSBox.

I still plan on doing Quake with Copper and probably Abyss of Pandemonium someday since the first is improving upon the original and the later was meant to be the third Mission Pack.

So Far this year I have beaten:
-Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition (Main Game and Future Connected Side Mode)
-Borderlands 1
-Super Metroid
-Final Fantasy 5 (gba port)
-Pokemon Omega Ruby
-Pokemon Emerald QuetzalAlpha Romhack

Stuff I'm Playing Right Now:
-Pokemon Uranium (Living Dex project)

-Kirby Triple Deluxe (main story is almost done, after that im going to do dededetour but not the arenas)
-Kirby Return to Dreamland Deluxe (currently working on EX mode and after that is just true arena)

Stuff I would Still Like to Play this Year:
-Kirby Planet Robobot
-Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling
-Tactics Ogre Reborn
-Xenoblade Chronicles 2
-Mario and Luigi Brothership
-The 2 memetastic Zelda CDi games (Faces of Evil & Wand of Gamelon)
