I know about that but I don't think someone's age should have any impact on what could be considered retro... It's like if someone who grew up in the 50's considers that any music past the 70's is modern.

Badseed, with all respect this is a pretty dumb answer.
You like it or not the 2000's and 2010's eras were about 10-20 years old. People that grew up on these eras are around 20-30 years old or at least are in their teen years.
Like @Ikagura said, "it's like if someone who grew up in the 50's considers that any music past the 70's is modern." Retro is about old things that aren't present anymore on these years and evokes nostalgia because the times of these things are over not about eras lol.
And yes, you have so many things from the 2000's and 2010's that aren't present anymore or are more niche or with a reduced popularity due to new things like the MP5, Messenger, the Emo era, the ancient internet or in this case consoles like the GBA that had games that were made with a style very different to... We say modern mobile games.

I finished F.E.A.R last week. It's a retro game from back in 2005 when you were young.
I tried taking screenshots, but I don't really get how GOG galaxy handles those. People usually don't consider it part of the "modern" shooter wave of the noughts like CoD and Halo, but once you get a load of that running speed, you realise it really is. The slo-mo gunplay looks awesome though.

I recently watched the Super Mario Galaxy Movie! It was a little mid BUT it made me remember Star Fox! So I dusted off my 3DS and started replaying Star Fox 64 3D!

I used to be obsessed with Star Fox as a kid, so replaying it has been a fun ride! Especially since I never actually tried out the 3DS version. Now that I've defeated the hard route, I do feel like going back to the original and seeing how it compares!

I've been playing the 3DS remake as well, I miss the old compressed 32kbps voice acting but otherwise it's a fine remake. Just wish they added a little more.


For my part I moved onto Etrian Odyssey IV after beating III (which I may or may not review...) and even though the airship exploration makes it feel slightly bloated I really appreciate the changes they made. And while the FM synth soundtracks of the DS trilogy indeed go hard it's kind of insane how good IV's soundtrack is, but I guess that's just Yuzo Koshiro for ya.

I still prefer III though. The classes felt more interesting and the relative lack of balancing made for a really fun experience. Plus there's a nostalgia factor at play since I went to a crappy Christian high school from 2011-2012 and I would skip morning chapel to play EO3 and browse /v/ in the bathroom on my credit card sized phone. Youth is truly wasted on the young.

Resident Evil 4 for the gamecube has been a blast. i played about a quarter of the og on the gamecube too but with all respect wasn't my favorite. I definately like RE4 more albeit i am glad i played the original as it taught me some tricks that helped me already know important stuff as the 180 turn in RE4. Oddly I thought Ashley was going to be so much more annoying than she actually is for her reputation lol. i could do without her yelling where i am going when i park her somewhere though. Girl chill i just need to get the treasure that attach case upgrade isn't going to buy itself lol.

In my watching, I just realized. A lot of the characters in newer anime tick me off. It's so satisfying blasting them to bits with my 70's favorites in SWR when I get the chance.
