I really like the concept of score systems in games like what Platinum games have after you beat a level giving you a ranking, same with Manhunt, Devil May Cry, Resident Evil 4 after a game clear, Metal Gear Solid with the codenames. I love it and it drastically helps replayability. What do you think of that system and what other games can you recommend that do this?

I agree, it's a great way to make players to try out different ways to approach a game
I think Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker did it well, I managed to get better score, ranks and finish quicker with a lot of tricks and tools. While in the other games I just either hit the same combo that deals huge damage or just damageless run

Hm. I suppose I might be in the minority, but I don't like scoring systems at all. I feel like I'm pressured to play a certain way in order to get the highest score(doing long combos, don't get hit, making sure I use certain moves, etc) instead of just relaxing and playing the way *I* really want to.

Lollipop Chainsaw scores you after each mission.

Megaman 1 on the NES has a scoring system that serves no purpose because there is no high score to beat, you don't get anything at all for scoring points nor does your score appear anywhere when you beat the game. The devs got rid of the system going forward but i like it a lot, it makes MM1 more unique among its younger brothers and for me, it feels more rewarding to beat the game with a big number on top of the screen when you beat the final boss.

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is a game everyone loves to forget about until it is brought up again

And as was kinda mentioned, a number of Sonic games had that, both Adventure games, Heroes, Unleashed, Generations, both Rush games, and maybe some others

And lets not forget Yoshi's Island, which I'm pretty sure was the first mainstream game to feature such a thing

I really miss those kinds of things. Gave me something to strive for. Oh yeah, Death Stranding did it too. Can't wait for the next one

Columns is a game i used to challenge myself when it came to high score. Same for Pac-Attack.
