I gotta say: I actually purchased Persona 3 FES on PS3 at the times and I had P4 Golden on PS Vita. I managed to get into those games eventually, but at the beginning they felt kinda overwhelming, especially on the difficulty. Then I understood the games better and had a blast (mostly with P3 and P5, P4 definitely not as much but it was still alright).
Wait, hang on a sec. So your major issue about P5 was that it was originally a PlayStatione exclusive, right? And because of it (even if PS3 started to get already much cheaper tbh) a good chunk of the "fandom" experienced it on YT (or substituting it with that slop that was the anime adaptation), correct? If on a side I wuold agree with you, on the other...idk, The Last of Us on PS3 still didn't stopped it from the huge success it had. So the "Playstation jail" argument is appliable, yes, but 'till a certain point. Also I think most people managed to play it (and no, not necessarily only on YT) lol.
Ironically the only one that punishes for doing harem romances (even if "by punishment" it means just the funny cutscene) is P5. In the others you pretty much get away from it.
I kind of agree with you on Persona 5. I think it's a mix of it being pushed back so much (remember Winter 2014 when people thought we'd get P5 lol) and then when it came out it was still underbaked imo. And honestly, that game also brought in a lot of new, but annoying fans at the time (2016-18) and most of those newer fans just did not have consoles at all, so some of them just watched the anime instead of playing the game. So once again Atlus' fault cuz they could've made it multiplatform but they didn't, which led to.....that with the P5 fanbase. There were just too many bad decisions Atlus made with P5/Royal that make me think "hey....maybe they should've tried working on this differently".

I really have to agree with you about the P5 fandom (and to an extent, the Persona fandom in general). I'm in the same position where it got me into Megami Tensei, and I do genuinely enjoy a lot of aspects of the game, but things like the harem romance stuff and more broadly the depiction of women throughout the game overall really put me off (stop sexualising teenagers, Atlus!). Unfortunately I think the game attracts the worst kind of fans, and it's really hard for me to enjoy the aspects of the game that I really do like these days because of it.
