Games that everyone hate but you love. Or vice versa

Are you sure about that, mate? because I have the entire FEAR collection and I don't see what makes FEAR 3 so bad compared to FEAR 2.
I admit FEAR 3 is better than FEAR 2 by comparison, but that's not saying much. Both games got CODified in various ways, and the shooting just didn't feel as good as the first game nor Extraction Point. Especially the shooting FEAR 2.

Sonic Forces. Not everyone hates this game, but people loved throwing baby fits about it in the YouTube circle/social media. The game has its problems, but I don't find it the horrible disaster people like to overly exaggerate. The game is decent or fine overall, and entertaining with a great soundtrack. It's not Sonic 06, nor Sonic Boom on Wii U. I love the create a character customization, and don't regret my time. The worst I can say about the game is that the classic Sonic levels are objectively worse. Especially that fucking auto scroller level. Otherwise, I had a good time, and still pop it in for a quick speed burst every now and then.

Not as many people complain about the game now and move on, but you still have a few haters who can't get over themselves.

The controls are pretty ass at the start. But, It become more fun when you get good. At least for me.

There's a lot of that. Here's what I remember:

Games I don't play but everyone likes:

All the From Software games...but my nephews are the ones who buy each and every one of them.
I just annoy them about it in a variety of ways...
Same with Lies of P

Games I like but everyone hates:

Castlevania 64 and Legacy of Darkness
Street Fighter X Tekken
Resident Evil 6 - This is one of the first games I played online actively. I played for hours on this...and tried to unlock every bonus I could get on re.net now resident evil.net. I even binged on agent mode where you could play as a creature on other people's playthrough of story mode.

And my latest one is Killing Floor 3. Well, I got this free unexpectedly from PSN+ this December so I might as well play it since I burned myself out on Killing Floor 1 and 2.

I find strange that Bayonetta 3 is most hated by "fans" and for me this was one of the best slasher games ever.

I don't normally see a lot of chatter for it, but I feel like for me Mystical Ninja Staring Goemon for the N64 applies for me.

I get why it's not talked about a lot, it's released on the same system as Super Mario 64, the Banjo Kazooie games, and the Zelda games. It's just Mystical Ninja came out while I was still into Power Rangers and that style of humor it was telling. It's not as ground breaking or industry defining as the other releases, which that's ok. I play games that are fun for me.

What I don't care for is people acting like I'm weird for not liking Ocarina of Time. It's annoying when I had someone call me a Zoomer who doesn't like old games. I played OoT when it was released in the N64, even saw trailers for it in theaters lol. I prefer the top down releases, always have. It's tiring having discussions about media, and people can't understand that some people just do or don't like a thing, popular or not for their own reasons.

I enjoy The Callisto Protocol and BioShock Infinite quite a bit.

While I was working on getting my HDD full of Wii games set up, I was thinking on how I missed playing Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz as a kid since I used to play that game a heck of a lot back then, and I was curious to know what other people think of the WIi original and... Yeah.

2.5/5 was definitely an understatement and the only thing I could get was the motion controls, and the simplistic gameplay that made the game significantly easier than SMB1 and 2, but I still to this day think that there were parts of the game that were quite challenging on their own... I might give this game a shot again after so long, but yeah this was definitely a surprise.

-TRASH THAT YOU LOVE

Just how many more of these threads??

On the topic i don't play any overhated games maybe FF8?? But that game hate seems to be overblown as many people like the game so??
honestly it was just an excuse to talk about rygar lmao

A game I hate but others love is Roblox. I hate it because certain adults use this child game for the wrong reasons.

Final Fantasy XV. Its a beautiful looking game for the time it came out, and certain aspects of it speak to me. The camaraderie, the mix of slow paced camping moments with action packed fights, and the characters themselves.

It was my introduction to the series and once I played it and loved it, I could never make it through one of those pixelated older games in the series.

It's not a masterpiece but I enjoyed it and I don't think it's bad.

Aside from the graphics it looked fine I think if this game wasn't crowd funded people would have been a lot easier on it

More than crowdfunding, it was more the hype generated for it. That people had a misconception about Inafune and his "power", which he entirely leaned on from the get go as well, having more grandiose idea about himself than he ought to. This was already eluded to by Kojima when he indirectly criticized the "A Keiji Inafune game" in the opening of Dead Rising 2. That his touch was likely very slight one given the Canadian studio working on the game. So Inafune over sold his ability to get a newly formed studio that was not even a studio and a B tier indie dev team to deliver something that was promised to make all the Mega Man fans cry themselves to sleep with happy tears for the decade to come. The inevitable emotional tie nostalgia, grandiose promises and "being part of it" through funding vowed that would end up in massively "over corrected" disappointment once the product hit the shelves. Silly marketing and all of that on top. The only "good" thing if anything is that it corrected the imago of Inafune, his status as "father of mega man" looked back on by more inquisitive lens, a lot of youtube videos about that after the downfall. Indeed, the game itself may be "fine" but those were things I analyzed as an outsider back when it all went down.

And it is not like when the right people do right stuff in right way does not end up in good results. Bloodstained was also crowdfunded by "Father of *vania" But in this case Iga was much more of a director than Inafune with a team, vision and thing to deliver on. Bloodstained was not at least initially seen as all that but as I understand patches and additions made the game better and better, it already more than less pleased the fans, and it even had cool 8bit castlevania spinoff games by a pretty good Japanese indie company known for other such projects.

For me same, except XIII in my case. I actually liked it's story so much that while more praised mechanically, I disliked the setup of XIII-2 and fell uninterested fast, never playing it beyond that, and XIII-3 was collateral as it would have needed the story of XIII-2 to understand.

But I appreciated the heck out of the trio. XV I could take as audiovisual adventure, one of first games I got to experience with my 5.1 sound system. Summoning Ramuh was a room exploding experience.

Zestiria I liked a lot for it's new additions technologically, world building wise, and the fun mechanics between human and spirit characters. To be, berseria was a slight downgrade even, while a fine game in general.

Donkey Kong 64, it's one of my favorite games on N64 and I didn't know that the game was hated ::dkfacepalm

Shadow the Hedgehog (2005) is definitely not a good game, but I really like it. And I don’t mean in an ironic way, I genuinely enjoy this game and all its edginess. It also helps that I really like the soundtrack, the visuals, and the art direction of this game. Even though it’s repetitive and has very poorly designed levels and missions, I still can’t bring myself to hate it completely. I still find this game more enjoyable and entertaining than Sonic 2006 or Sonic Forces.

Some people seems to hate DMC 4 from what I can see, mostly because of the backtracking on the 2nd half of the game and how weak the enemies are.
I love this game tho, it's fun af and the fact that it's the DMC game with most playable characters of all is interesting at least.
Besides, Shall Never Surrender is a banger.

Legit surprised the NES port of Double Dragon 1 is seen as a bad one, it may not be as faithful or impressive graphically compared to the Arcade, but it still a solid, fun romp that moves way faster than the original Arcade one, that said 2's port is easly the better one

It's not. It reviewed and sold well at the time and is generally considered a good NES game from what I've seen. The platforming is the one thing some people tend to take issue with, but it's honestly not that bad. My main problem with it was that one level that loops forever until you find the right entrance.

whoa, i still haven't played 13-3. i liked the first one, actually, but had a hard time liking the 2nd one (mostly because i think Sarah is a dolt and should have never been the star of a whole game)

i guess is should play it, now. if you like it...

who thinks that? I'll fight them!

However, one time some kids came over to my house, and one of them said. "Hey, you've got Bad Dudes, don't you?" I was like, "no, i wish i had bad dudes. That game looks cool."

He was like, "no, no no, you have Bad Dudes. I know you do! Let me see your games..."

Turns out he was actually talking about Double Dragon, and he thought it was called Bad Dudes...

So, maybe this is how the roomer that Double Dragon is "bad" got started....?

It's seen as bad due to what it removed, if i remember right it removed a stage or 2 and completely removed 2 player mode, game wise it was good but as a port it was considered inferior for those reasons if i remember right.

Double dragon 2 on the nes however, is considered the definitive version, even over the arcades.
