Game Pass price increase to $30/month

I predicted just this. First they have have low price and good selection and once people are hooked then they do a price increase soon they gonna add in tire list where you can pay 15 bucks a month but then you get commercial before you start every game and if you don´t want commercials then you will have to pay for the ultimate tire that will be 40-50bucks a month.


ALL while you still never own any of the games at all.

I'm not defending this shit at all, but information is being left out here, so I'm just posting this here for clarity.

After the entire debacle with the way Don Mattrick handled the Xbox One messaging, they should know better about how their information here is going to be latched onto. What a disaster for them.

The subscription cancellation page is apparently overloaded (idk as I never had game pass), but I like that people are voting with their dollar almost immediately. I just feel bad for the folks in this umbrella who had no involvement in this decision but will be the ones laid off when some bar graph doesn't go high enough.

I mentioned it before elsewhere on here, but I really remember reading a thing from MS that I can't seem to find anywhere online, that stated the Xbox experiment was originally given a 15-year life cycle, then it would be retired. We're well beyond that, though I think all of those faces are long gone now, so who can tell. But it sure doesn't look good, even if they do own a jillion studios. If anything, that makes it scarier.

I cancelled my Gamepass subscription after hearing this.

Honestly, the service was great while it lasted but I refuse to pay anymore.

If Sony follows suit with another PSN price increase for the Essential tier because of Microsoft's example, this might be the end for me as far as consoles go. All I really want is online play for Monster Hunter but by forcing me to pay a premium for unwanted games just for the former, I'd just go full retro.

Plus the inclusion of Omega Planetes Savage in Wilds has really ticked me off and if Capcom is just going to give me more of these, that and the high online play prices will just make me swear off modern gaming.

yea this is... I mean I can easily pirate wutevR I want with minimal effort n even though my 12TB HDD crashed last week n I lost shitloads of emu/roms that I been luggin around (some of it dating back to '95) the bulk of it n best of it is luckily easily replaced, but back to meh XB-GP-U subscription... I'll do 1 month of the raised price n if I don't see 1.5x more value at the least then...

I just renewed it, and I think it’s a great price for its value. I’m considering getting a 2nd hand Series X for my niece as well.

It’s awesome: I just got a 2-month Crunchyroll premium trial, a 3-month Spotify Premium subscription, and a 2-month Discord Nitro trial. It’s a solid membership and definitely worth it. Personally, paying 80 bucks for Mario Kart World or $20 for Donkey Kong Bonanza: DK Island & Emerald Rush DLC seems far worse to me, yet people still support Nintendo.

I have to say, Xbox really messed up with those perks titles. The current "Premium" tier used to be called "Ultimate." While there's no price increase and it's technically a new tier, they stuck with the same "Ultimate" title. It's baffling how Microsoft couldn't find a better marketer for its gaming division, it's crazy how poorly handled this is.

Inb4: 'You must be a NEET! There's no way you play that much!' I'm a 30-year-old guy who spends a lot of time playing Overwatch 2 and single-player games on the Cloud. My niece and nephew now play on my previous gaming PC rig, and sharing it with them has been incredibly rewarding.

The fact that SO MANY people canceled their Game Pass subscriptions to the point where the refund site kept crashing speaks volumes.

There is literally no justification for spending $30 a month to play (probably mid) games at launch.

Plus, this is coming after price hikes for the consoles themselves. Microsoft is taking "L's" like it is their only goal in life.

Dont care, it died 4yrs ago, had good deals using it for 4/5yrs on my XboxOneX.
Had good time memories, Pratically almost for free Gamepass/ultimate due regular discounts/trials, 3 month free, 1 or 2 for 1/3 months, covert old pass into ultimate cheaply till end 2021.
Its really useless since I cant finished any interesting games before they removed, Im more hooked on multiplayers: Gears of war, Halo, so was good time.
