Wow, another thread regarding Xbox Game Pass opinion because of the price increase. I wonder how many more we will have lol.

The partner of a friend is using PC Game Pass and cancelling it before 2 weeks every month and Microsoft refunds her full price. She waits for the next month and does the same.

If anyone is not agree with its price, might try this lol.

Microsoft believes Gamepass logic is future of everything therefore they invest on it no matter what it takes so it may explain why they intentionally let customers to scam them lol. Same "naive" logic as Epic on how they are stubborn on finding games to giveaway every week for popularity of their useless platform lol.

Well, as always Microsoft seems to be sending Xbox to suicide but I am also sure that there are enough people in the world who pay these prices. It's nothing special Playstation will surely raise its prices again soon and yes it goes on like this until it doesn't work anymore.

The 3 tier system is still incredibly obnoxious to keep up with. It used to be so simple but now they’ve segregated everything because they have nothing else to offer.

What sucks is that they’ll also sell those weird uncharted clones at $70 hoping you’ll get game pass to play them for 20 or 30 on GP to access them for a month then never again.

I think Gamepass is in part the reason why xbox console sales have been degrading so much, why would you want an xbox if you can get the gamepass instead? at 33 million almost 5 years after their release, I highly doubt they'll catch up with the xbox one, which was in itself a controversial launch

I had a good and cheapest time with 4yrs ago for 4/5yrs on XboxOneX.
Almost for free, 3 free month, free months trails, $1 or $2 per month promotions till my cheap old gamepass convert into months of ultimate till end 2021 is finale over and out.

Exactly. This service is for people who wants to pay and don't think about anything. They don't want physical stuff at home, because the only thing they are going to collect is dust. Property is not something they want for non essential things in life, they pay 30€ for 30 day of enjoyment, and they are happy because when they die every single physical thing they have will be a nuissance.

We don't need to share that way of living, just understand it :)

Not really true, Gamepass Premium is just the console standard + xcloud and the same games available on PC. Gamepass premium does NOT include day 1 releases, they say most games, outside of call of duty, will be available in 1 years after their release.

To have day 1 releases you need to pay an increased 16$ a month for ONLY game pass PC, or 30$ for Ultimate which includes PC and Console, XCloud and everything day 1.

a Netflix style subscription model for games will never work, while it may seem nice on the surface, not a lot of people are willing to hedge their bets on a service that doesn't guarantee the games on there will stay there, and with no long-term off-line capabilities. hell that's even assuming companies will be willing to put their games there as it will eat into their sales, since all it will do is entice people to take the cheaper option rather than pay full price.

to me i knew it was a service that wouldn't appeal to me and thankfully stayed away, now the people who got invested in it are gonna eat the costs of Microsoft's bad decisions, whether they like it or not.

How about Gears 1 remaster for third time?

i don't see Microsoft re-releasing the Gears of War OG trilogy, mainly because if they did all it will do is show how truly incompetent they've become, especially given how poorly Gears 4 and 5 were received by players, and how the Halo series was butchered to hell after its OG trilogy. i finished 4 co-op and tried to play 5(i stopped after like 2 hrs and couldn't finish it) and watched a story synopsis of the game, and man I'm glad i quit it early. i guarantee you if they did release a remastered version of the OG trilogy it would sell really well and even get more ppl into Gears, but these are the sort of people who would let their ego keep them from an easy win, simply because they know Gears 4/5 will be compared to 1/2/3 and see how bad Microsoft got at making their 1st party games.

i never had gamepass and never needed it
i never had PS plus and never needed it
i just buy what i actually play on SALE because trust me theres enough games in existence you don't need the brand new 70$+ games on day 1.

One of the Best features of Gamepass Ultimate, was being able to play xbox games on your pc or android devices via cloud...though terrible internet connections could make it unplayable for the high end games. Also you could get GPU for free with their rewards program...but Microsoft ruined that too. I wasn't expecting to be talking about Xbox again so soon but here we are.

So! I just wanted to toss my hat in here and here's what I'm actually seeing.

Old Game Pass core is straight up gone, honestly good riddance that always felt like a big rip-off to make users only look at Premium and Ultimate. It did the absolute bare minimum for a subscription service.

Game Pass essential is the old $10 Game Pass Premium of the ~50 games offering and cloud streaming. Premium didn't offer streaming originally, used to be only Ultimate.

New Game Pass Premium is old Gamepass Ultimate minus EA Play. Technically at this point Old Ultimate Dropped back down to $15 a month

New Game Pass Ultimate is trying to justify the price by offering these things: EA Play, Ubisoft+ Classics, Fortnite Crew Pass (Fortnite's 4 battlepasses, yes, 4.) Double the total game pass titles and Day 1 Xbox release titles.

Now as I see it personally, I've been in the ecosystem long enough that I can comfortably say that I can downgrade to Essential without losing much of anything. I had Ultimate for both the Gamepass library and EA Play. I took it as a try before you buy mentality, anyone that used to subscribe to Playstation Underground or OXG remembers getting the demo disks with their Magazine, same vibe just minus the Magazine because the instant info hub that is the internet and all.

Now the more arguable point is that Game Pass PC still exists and really is the worst deal out of all 4.

Hope this helps people understand and lets you all sift through the echo chamber that is the current discourse.

Just drop it if it'll help you shit easier, sleep comfortably etc. Hell, I dropped Xbox years ago back when I had the 360 and this was LONG before it ever reached that point. Same for PS, but smart thing I did was pay for a year and for a decent price too. Rarely got multiplayer because I didn't have anyone to that daily with. Sure, there's FFXIV but they work on subscriptions too but the expansions were and weren't beefy enough. To me, it was fine, but to them it wasn't.
I like things simple, not complex. There's enough of you out there worried about taxes and that's the last thing to be an issue in gaming which are unneeded politics, taxes and other bs of the sort.

Congrats on the video. I agree with every word — that was a solid prediction. I’d heard Xbox had profitability targets and was at risk of being shut down by 2027–2028, supposedly leaked during the Activision deal. If that ends up happening, I can’t say it’d bother me much.

With what’s going on now, I do feel vindicated even though at the time people thought I was talking nonsense; just got to wait 10 years now for my opinion on AI graphics technologies to make high value PC graphics cards obsolete to come true!

The funniest thing that happened to me was that I just the day before I was commenting on a post where Sarah bond (I think that is her name?) was claiming how great of a business GP is, to which I claim "If it where that good, why did they trick the numbers by changing Gold to GP?", and many people jumped on me claiming that GP is actually so incredibly successful and wonderful, and that I was just a hater.

Less than 24 hours later they come with this price increase, change in the award redeem and even pushing some full UI ad for GP Ultimate.

We call it since a while: the model was not sustainable
