Voice acting for Western games at the time was good. Sometimes great. Played Soul Reaver?
If I was going to play, I would mix the SNES release with the improved version of the first fan translation or use the GBA script port. What is the preferred version of Final Fantasy 5? Other than PR.
For sure looking at resident evil it's a good thing but wish square enix added voice acting in Pc releases for example.considering how megaman x4 and megaman 8 were with the voice acting, it's probably a god thing that there wasn't any voice acting for the games.
What? I remember seeing few Final Fantasy 14 cutscenes and it seemed good , i also remember seeing the tactics remaster voice acting and it was alright.Voice acting varied wildly from game to game. If it was from Japan, it was probably bad in most cases and that's still largely true today.
Oh, this is delightful. It's fun seeing how they came up with things like the dwarves, jesters, and tantalus. I also like the discussion of the lost references to previous FF games. FF9 was my first, so they all had gone way over my head anyway, but I remembered seeing other folks at the time talking about different items and things that were references to previous games.Today Time Extension had an interview with Final Fantasy IX translator, Brodie Phillips. One of ~5 people who worked on the project.
Ok, I didn't consider FF9's old man Garland as being Garland until you mentioned it, and now I am laughing so hard at angry old man Garland hahahahaYeah FF9 is a treasure of older games refrences it's characters , dialouge , places and even music! If you played previous FF games from 1-8 you will have a good experience with 9 it's very much a tribute to the original Final Fantasy storyline the crystal story and the 4 fiends of elements still amazed we got lich in 3d before gta 6
OK but really garland being an old angry man from another planet was cool
this scene is very appropriate for this conversation.Ok, I didn't consider FF9's old man Garland as being Garland until you mentioned it, and now I am laughing so hard at angry old man Garland hahahaha
That is amazing. I'm going to have to go back and try to find all the different references now.this scene is very appropriate for this conversation.
there are references scattered through out the game, even in the ending sequence right before the credits. the main party of characters are a reference as well. zidane, the thief; garnet the white mage; vivi, the black mage; and steiner, the knight [warrior].That is amazing. The bit right after it in the video with You're Not Alone reminded me of this old, but great cover I'm sure y'all have already heard, but it's my favorite version, and the lyrics she wrote really fit the entire narrative for that chunk of the game.
Her Roses of May is also so good, and it and You're Not Alone, have lived in my playlist for over a decade at this point hahathere are references scattered through out the game, even in the ending sequence right before the credits. the main party of characters are a reference as well. zidane, the thief; garnet the white mage; vivi, the black mage; and steiner, the knight [warrior].
i saw that video on that channel after stumbling across that fantastic roses of may song. i got both in my music collection.

oh, i forgot to mention; there is a hidden scene that you can come across that reveals a bit of information about garnet. i remember it being a rather confusing series of things that you had to do during one point in the story; and it's not particularly worth it just for a small bit of info, unless you are playing through the game again.
i was reading a guide on gamefaqs about the secrets in the game. that's how l learned about it.Her Roses of May is also so good, and it and You're Not Alone, have lived in my playlist for over a decade at this point haha
Oh yeah, I remember the thing about Garnet. I tried it myself back in the day, but never got it to work, and this was back when it was just people arguing about the "correct" method on various fan forums.
Yesss, the most important mod! Get Beatrix in the party because she's just absolutely the best. For not being one of our main party members, she's incredibly well written and fleshed outi was reading a guide on gamefaqs about the secrets in the game. that's how l learned about it.
i might that info the next time that play through the game. i think i have the steam version, so i'll use it on that version; along with the mod that makes my favorite character in the game, beatrix, fully playable.
yes! she's absolutely the best character in the game; alongside vivi. she's also in one of my two favorite classes in rpgs, paladin. i need to work on more drawings of her. i got only one up in my gallery on deviantart and newgrounds; and one in the works for my final fantasy babes set of drawings. still quite a ways form drawing her yet, but she will be one of my favorites to draw in that series.Yesss, the most important mod! I forever love Kuja because I have a weak spot for overdramatic, kind of unhinged villains, but Beatrix is just such a compelling character, I can't imagine anyone not loving her. They give so much care to her struggle. She always deserves more fan art!! =Dyes! she's absolutely the best character in the game; alongside vivi. she's also in one of my two favorite classes in rpgs, paladin. i need to work on more drawings of her. i got only one up in my gallery on deviantart and newgrounds; and one in the works for my final fantasy babes set of drawings. still quite a ways form drawing her yet, but she will be one of my favorites to draw in that series.
yeah. i've seen her getting more fan art in recent times. i'd link my drawing of her but i out that in a set with 3 other ff babes, and one of those is a bit spicier than the others.I forever love Kuja because I have a weak spot for overdramatic, kind of unhinged villains, but Beatrix is just such a compelling character, I can't imagine anyone not loving her. I'm not familiar with the jontron theory, but yeah, they do a good job of showcasing him throughout, with escalating stakes and a lot of eerie drama in how he presents himself and his plans. Plus his theme music is great and feels just a bit discordant to put us on edge.yeah. i've seen her getting more fan art in recent times. i'd link my drawing of her but i out that in a set with 3 other ff babes, and one of those is a bit spicier than the others.
kuja is a great villain. he follows the "gruntilda theory" as jontron called it. after getting a sneak peak of him in a scene and his official debut in the game, he interacts with the party throughout the game, making a lasting impact upon the story and the player. and the fact that he actually blows up a planet is a perfect demonstration of his power levels; making him one of the strongest in the series.
thanks for the compliment. those are some of my favorite recent drawings that i made. i've been getting better at increasing my speed and attention to detail. i also like the extra layer of shadows that i added in. makes the drawings look quite nice. i got another couple of drawings in that set in the works; with rydia and barbariccia this time hanging out on the beach.I'm not familiar with the jontron theory, but yeah, they do a good job of showcasing him throughout, with escalating stakes and a lot of eerie drama in how he presents himself and his plans. (Also I stuck my head into your devianart out to take a peek out of curiosity. Nice job in the drawings!!)
Eiko even says what a terrible name garland is square brought back the original Final Fantasy villain as an all knowing old dude it's intentional 100% , i still can't shake the feeling that kuja was also partially inspired by the emperor from Final Fantasy 2 both being powerful magicians and all with both also hoarding a demonic army of sorts , freya also has a pretty similar story to Ricard/Gareth the original Final Fantasy dragoon from FF2 both are away when their kingdom gets destroyed the only difference is freya is actually fleshed out a lot more.Ok, I didn't consider FF9's old man Garland as being Garland until you mentioned it, and now I am laughing so hard at angry old man Garland hahahaha
OK i only noticed NOW that kuja and FF4 villain are brothers of the protagonist and redeem themselves in the end whaaaaaat only thing we needed is something happening on the moon for it to be completethis scene is very appropriate for this conversation.
there's a couple of lines of dialog during a conversation with either mikoto or garland that basically says this without being too direct about it. it can be easy to miss.OK i only noticed NOW that kuja and FF4 villain are brothers of the protagonist and redeem themselves in the end whaaaaaat only thing we needed is something happening on the moon for it to be complete
I was also thinking Terra felt like a reasonable stand in for the moon. It feels very 'other' and it's smaller than Gaia. Having it also be a 'dead' planet also makes it feel similar to the moon from 4.there's a couple of lines of dialog during a conversation with either mikoto or garland that basically says this without being too direct about it. it can be easy to miss.
and i would say that the world of terra is quite similar to the moon from ff4. it's a strange desolate place, weird and unnerving with the music and landscape being barren with little life and no plants. terra goes a step further with all of the monsters being undead.
I love Freya ;0; I never actually ended up going back and playing FF2. I know about it, but I should probably go back and play it properly. (I also think the leveling system seems neat, even if folks weren't necessarily fond of it)Eiko even says what a terrible name garland is square brought back the original Final Fantasy villain as an all knowing old dude it's intentional 100% , i still can't shake the feeling that kuja was also partially inspired by the emperor from Final Fantasy 2 both being powerful magicians and all with both also hoarding a demonic army of sorts , freya also has a pretty similar story to Ricard/Gareth the original Final Fantasy dragoon from FF2 both are away when their kingdom gets destroyed the only difference is freya is actually fleshed out a lot more.

It was with garland he says kuja is your older brother who threw you away.there's a couple of lines of dialog during a conversation with either mikoto or garland that basically says this without being too direct about it. it can be easy to miss.

Yeah freya is dope she is the ultimate dragoon :D i like her wait animation a lot and her run animation is soooo funny for a dragon knight like her.I love Freya ;0; I never actually ended up going back and playing FF2. i was 90% certain that it was garland who said that, but it also seemed like something mikoto would say; and it's been sometime since my last playthrough, so i couldn't really remember. It was with garland he says kuja is your older brother who threw you away.
Mikoto that monke girl righti was 90% certain that it was garland who said that, but it also seemed like something mikoto would say; and it's been sometime since my last playthrough, so i couldn't really remember.
