Looks like i played the hard version without knowing.....explains why FF4 was in a nutshell my ass getting beaten by pretty much everyone both lorewise and gameplay wise.well, ff4 on the psx is the hard version of the same game on the snes version. they made versions, easy type and hard type; and they were not lying.
Silence did save me couple times i think it's perfect for kefka tower in 6.i've noticed for the most part that debuffs really aren't worth it. the enemies can either dodge it too often or are immune to it; and in some cases where i've seen them land on both regular enemies and bosses, it doesn't hinder the opponent. i remember that there was a boss in a game who could be hit with silence, but it was a pure melee fighter, so that was a rather pointless weakness to give to it.
i don't mind bosses having immunities but they should get them as you progress through the game. weaker bosses at the start shouldn't resist the spells but endgame ones should have one weakness to a debuff if none at all. ffx is so far the only game in the series where i can recall bosses being able to have weakened defenses, lowered magic power, silenced, poisoned and slow actually worked. i only learned about 2 days ago that you can inflect some status effects like that to bosses in ff4 from the seer video. i tried before on several of them only to see nothing happen.
Yeah bosses being immune to status effect limits these spell usage making them more niche than they should be , but if i remember the spell that reduces enemy armor does work on them so that's a win!
