Final Fantasy Thread

i played ff9 several times; a couple of times on a psx, once on a psx, got it on steam and i'm on disc 3 for the switch version. ff4 is probably one of my favorite psx games to play. i filled up about 6 memory cards with ff4 files back many years ago when i was a kid.
Well that's a lot can't even compete with you on FF4 lad

Man, this new version of Triple Triad rocks.

This reminds me I need to pick my first play through if FFIV 3D back up on Steam

I'm about to beat FFIX for the first time since I got it in 5th grade (with the artbook!) but I'm afraid that if I do I'll lose some part of that world that I've always held in my mind....The Place I'll Return to One Day, if you will

Resonant Arc is doing their next series on FFIX btw.
Great discussion if you're a fan. I actually learned a bit about FFIX's development even as a longtime fan who thought I knew everything about it.

Also, I got the mousepad the other day and it's exquisite

I need to replay and study FFXVI ( I just bought it on steam and its been years since I played, never beat the DLC either) before I make an article analyzing it's glorious story.

I just did a review on it. I need to go back and play VIII

The only FF games I beat were, IX, X, VIIR, XVI and I enjoyed all.

I played 2 discs of VII, some of VIII (love its aesthetics but the story puzzles me), some of XII and XIII.

I took a long break from it but now I have started it again it is actually an interesting remake of the original too. But of course that is a matter of taste and you can invest money in it but you don't have to. I have come a long way so far without investing any money before someone starts complaining again ! Do you also have experience with this ?

got a new clipboard that's about a foot wide and nearly 1 and a half feet tall. copy paper and cardstock fits on it very nicely. i can turn the paper around almost just like on my drawing tablet.
made a drawing using some pens and pencils that i got some time ago.
i like mixing both of those together; there's a lot of potential for some interesting drawings to be made.

Just beat the final fantasy 2 pixel remaster pretty fun though the dungeon design is so awful.
It really got me interested in the saga series because of the levelling system.
Next up is the 3 pixel remaster and then the 3d remake.

The only mainline that I want to play is FF V and FFXIII

(I don't play 11 and 14 15 and 16)

(The rest I already beat it)

Building up my Steam Summer Sale cart and I heard somethings about FFXVI that makes disappointed if this the series' new direction and I'm not that interested in FFI's remake bur I could pick that up or Crisis Core. Need help in choosing or maybe I should look for indies and give up on FF and just buy up the FFT remake for nostalgia hits.

i've heard of ff16 being called "anime game of thrones". it is supposed to be more action based than previous instalments.
by ff1 remake, do you mean 'stranger of paradise'? if so, that's not a remake, it's a prequel of sorts to the first game. it pales in comparison to dissidia final fantasy in terms of being a prequel to the start of the franchise; so just play dissidia and 012 dissidia instead of that.
crisis core is the only good part of the ff7 series.
there's also plenty of hacks of the first 6 ff games, including some that add tons of extra content like ff4 ultima and some that tell their own stories like ff4 unprecedented crisis and there are several of those for ff6.

I got Hollow Knight and Alan Wake on sale, really cheap. I have waaay too many games to play to care about bad Final Fantasies. Once they start making FF RPGs again, maybe I'll give them another chance.

Crisis Core is alright, but you can download the PSP version here, not sure why you'd want to spend money on it.

A prequel to the FFI? Well that's a bit more interesting. Yeah Anime GOT might be a mild term if they paid a bit more attention to the political intrigue but to me it reminded me of FFXIII but with the inclusion of towns which didn't warrant me to bypass the story flags I got from reviews. I'm putting stuff usually not my fair in my cart but the call of an RPG is too hard to ignore and Crisis Core I know isn't my flavor and just wanted to know if I should have given any the last FF titles a chance this sale or just look for an indie to fill the scratch.

yeah, crisis core is more of an action rpg. it's probably one of the better attempts of mixing real time and turn base together.
yeah, stranger of paradise is a prequel. you play as a man named jack. jack garland. the game seemed to have been rushed since it has a lot of environments based off of nearly every game in the series, but you move around a menu map with the world map in the background. you read textboxes with random names of npcs that were planned to be in the game. they're not; not sure what happened, but that's what they did. probably ran out of time most likely. it was most likely going to be open world and you would traverse a myriad of locations basically turning the world of ff1 into a final fantasy patchwork quilt.
i don't know much about 16, so; it could be good for all i know. if someone else has played the game, they can give you a better overview of the game without spoiling it.
starting with ff13, the games have increasingly become more and more cinematic spectacle flair and less about rpg stuff. and old games like ff7 aren't immune to that either; as seen with the reimagining games.
i'd check out some reviews of the games and go from there.

Yeah I know this game For me it's a kind of small remake of the best role-playing game of all time. And I also think it's good that Sephiroth's story is told.
