you probably won't, and if you do, it will probably be expensive. i got a copy at a used game store and it was $46 dollars and that was about over 10 years ago. there's no telling how much it goes for nowadays.
Every so often they do get some interesting games in that I wouldn't expect to find on shelf and when I compare to price charting it's comparable. I found Earthbound and SNES FFII & FFIII there so FFVII would eventually have to show up and not be overpriced compared to market value.

found this while playing ff1 renaissance. i checked a copy of the in-game text on gamefaqs and this is dialog in the original game as well.

Why are you like this, Square Enix. And barely any game got offline adaptation, if we exclude KH X (only cutscenes while Dark Road is the only playable one).
You can still play some of Mobius via Blank Project, I’m stuck on chapter 2 because there’s a bug where you can’t act on a certain level but other than that it’s been darn good.

just found out in final fantasy renaissance that any weapon or armor that you drop will appear at the desert caravan shop. i don't think it works with sold items though.
just thought that was interesting.

Final Fantasy 2 is underrated. I have been playing it again after not having played through it in probably 15 years, and it has to be in my top 3 FF games. It does something many RPGs seemingly don't do, which is make you feel the horrors and tragedy of war in the gameplay (party members dying for good, towns being destroyed off the world map, talking to the NPCs shows how it affects the common man and their responses change throughout the story if you go back to towns), while in many other RPGs, the ongoing war simply feels like a backdrop to the story and nothing more. Also, having no set class is something that I really enjoyed, you are free to train anything in that game if you are willing to put the time in to having a character master it.

I loved and still love the game , from the PS1 intro to the end it's such a tragic game.

My problem however is characters don't have much depth , guy can talk to animals , maria 6th sense isn't used much and leila switching sides from going to a pirate to a homie was quite weird.....she never talked about it again.

Ricard (gareth in PS1) is awesome i would have loved more of his dialouge worth noting freya from FF9 has some similarities with Ricard such as unable to save their home and feeling guilt over it , he's the only character i felt sad for dying.

Josef the guy who help us in the arctic tundra dies too fast for me to develop an attachment to him thus he felt a "wasted character" i would have liked more time spent with him.

Minwu (mindu in PS1) also felt like a wasted character he literally saves Firion and the homies and is missing for half of the game only to die in the magic tower , i would have liked more time spent with him.

Thats the issue with FF2 story it has everything to be a great story yet uses everything poorly , save for "gordon" that prince who is suffering a crisis over leaving his brother scott to die that character was the only character who had me interested , he goes from low self-esteem and the defeatist sentiments to a confident powerful leader who leads the rebel army to victory

Oh also i like how Firion weakness is women , he gets seduced by a lamia queen :loldog

Not to mention the emperor who appears only like 2 times the supposed "Villain"

I think the FF game that's in need of a remake is FF2

I didn't find it to use anything poorly. I prefer its show don't tell approach to storytelling when compared to games that have half hour exposition dump cutscenes. I'm fine with the emperor not showing up much, it makes him feel like an evil emperor. A widely disliked political leader isn't going to show their face much for fear of assassination (this is well displayed by what happens after the tournament); I found it fitting for the character. There is a lot to be said in how Final Fantasy 2 uses the characters, and the role they play in the story itself.

when does maria show off her 6th sense power. i don't remember that happening.

It's one of those games you hate at first, but then when it clicks you love it. I may think to try to beat the NES original or the PS1 one (although those loadings are seriously dreadful). It's a game that by default you can break easily, especially if you keep levelling up the bare fists.

Its not necessary to appear to Firion and the homies in person rather show us how the emperor plots certain stuff like FF4 Villain , it doesn't make for a memorable villain tbh i mean Kefka is remembered fondly why? We see him a lot throughout the game.

She senses the pirate girl is up to something when you're about to board her ship , she recognizes Leon as the dark knight and Firion/guy didn't notice it until Maria pointed it out that says something about her ability to sense stuff beforehand no?

oh, i forgot about the pirate part. i remember her noticing something about the dark knight. i figured that she sort of recognized leon's voice.
i was a bit confused since i thought the 6th sense had something to do with ghosts. i didn't remember anything about ghosts in the game's story. makes more sense that she can sense if something is off about someone.

Maria is also FF first female playable character she should get more recognition and love but nah everyone thinks about Tifa

I never hated it. It has my favorite story of the series, and is only behind 1 and 5 for me as far as gameplay goes.

ff2 is a massively underrated game, minwu and ricard are a couple of my favorite ff party members and i really liked the stat growth system of the game where you used a certain stat to grow it, its kinda like working out in a sense.

ff1 white mage: am i a joke to you

oh man, its been a while. got a little too lazy to post over the holidays ^^;
My keep up of gameplay to postings has not been balanced, but i will still try to keep them synced up, as not to skip over things.

I did finally capture Diablos (thanks for the tip, @ThatOneLum !!!) for all the ff7 i played i never quite got what all the various status effects did... What can i say, the game was easy enough i mostly just mashed through it. But I now know blinding/darkness is like tears in the MOTHER series. Because I'm mostly focusing on physical for him, I Junctioned blind to Zell's physical attack, as well as an elemental chance.

vlcsnap-2026-01-01-12h56m05s024.pngWe've finally made it to Timber. As I'm welcomed, I'm asked for the password. Gotta admit... I wish the password was the one about the Chocobos... I miss those guys.
The Owls are still around.
We're lead into the train and introduced to the Forest Owls.
Zone, of the Forest Owls
mentions something about their Princess. I guess she knows what we gotta do.

vlcsnap-2026-01-01-13h02m28s541.png

...And it's her! The Princess is that girl from the party!
After all this time i finally catch her name,
Rinoa. Gonna be honest, didn't take her as a revolutionary... Or a princess either I guess. She said she heard about us through Seifer...
Man I hate that guy.
Rinoa joins our party. She's got a dog named Angelo that can do all kindsa tricks. We can teach him different tricks to use as her limit break.

And so the plan is...
vlcsnap-2026-01-01-13h07m07s824.png vlcsnap-2026-01-01-13h09m01s813.png

Incredibly complicated.

Well, not really. It's moreso another case of this game showing
its vendetta for hands-on learners again.
Rinoa explains a shit ton about this epic train heist, but in the end it's really just a few mini-games.

vlcsnap-2026-01-01-13h11m21s892.pngvlcsnap-2026-01-01-13h12m53s605.png

After some train-tomfoolery, we make it into the Galbadian President's train car.
No, we're not sabotaging the train to assassinate him, we just wanna talk some sense into him, after all he's totally screwed
Timber over.

vlcsnap-2026-01-01-13h16m14s027.pngvlcsnap-2026-01-01-13h16m22s640.png

Seems like the
Galbadian bastards are one step ahead of us though.
While we were putting our decoy president into the other train car to trick the soldiers into thinking our heist never happened, it turns out the president in the "real" traincar wasn't the president at all. This weird fuckin' guy keeps biting me and my teammates. We didn't come here to kill anyone, but then again, we did come prepared. After we wack him a few times he... transforms.

vlcsnap-2026-01-01-13h18m47s777.png
Honestly, how many WTFs can i fit into one LP?

Gotta say, this was probably the hardest fight for me yet. He throws a ton of statuses onto you, and he can really pack a punch.

1767291703580.png

He's even grosser in the original Japanese release!

vlcsnap-2026-01-01-13h26m13s068.png
So our mission was a bit of a failure. I'm glad we made it out alive, but it is disappointing. Now that they've caught on to our scheme, the streets of Timber are flooded with Galbadian soldiers. Fuck. The citizens aren't too happy at us for this.

CONTINUED PART 11

Great that this game is coming out for Nintendo switch 2 yes, it is clear that it will need a lot of storage space.

My Keybinds on Final Fantasy VII on PC don't work for some reason...

Ok so I'm playing using 7th heaven and even though the game itself works fine for some reason keybind changes arent detected. Like, it always only controls with my laptop's numpad, and this even happens after I change controls on the game itself and save the game, it still resets to the numpad controls. How can I fix this?

Does the same thing happen when you play without the mod?

Then maybe the Steam forum has an answer. I only ever played the OG PC release and it was ages ago so I can't be of much help unfortunately.

Ah yea kicking the galbadian soldiers asses will never stop being fun , do watch it as some of those mfs can cast sleep......just let Zell some sense into them it always works! :loldog

Blind him.
Without his physical attacks he can only use Demi which literally cannot kill you.

You can also draw demi from him and use it to clear like 1/4 of his health in one hit, then you can just keep chipping away and healing/rezzing yourself when an attack squeaks by, and re-blinding him when it wears off.

It takes ages but his health scales with your level or stats (can't remember which) so he ain't getting easier lmao
OK, that's a very good tip. Diablo is not an easy opponent but it's worth having him on the team as G.F
